  • In this video, I have uncovered 5 cases of players who got caught cheating in tennis. One of the most talked about was the first professional tennis player to receive a lifetime ban. Almost all the match-fixing cases were linked to the mighty match-fixer Grigor Sargsyan. Sargsyan was known as the man who built the largest match-fixing empire. According to BuzzFeed News, a source in the Victoria Police said tennis is one of the easiest sports to corrupt because there are only two players involved in a match. What do you think? Can the tennis governing body solve the corruption engulfing the sport?

"Reports show that tennis is the most corrupt sport." Um, I don't believe this. Which reports? The cases you mention here are very minor.

Maybe. But logically it makes sense. You have a situation at the lower challenger level where players have to spend a lot of money travelling around the world and on coaches etc to try and get to the higher level. The prize money they make is not enough to cover this.
At the same time, tennis is a sport that attracts a lot of gambling money at the lower levels. I'd say the ratio of gambling money to player wages/prize money is probably worse at this level of tennis than anywhere else in the sporting world. This creates an environment where corruption is very tempting for a lot of players.
Add to this that it's an individual sport so you only need to convince one person to throw a match. For this reason I believe it could well be true that tennis is a corrupt sport at the level where players are trying to break through into the top couple of hundred.

You are very naive then. In tennis, you can bet on anything, such as single points or games. All you need is a friend to make a live bet on what you have agreed beforehand. No one can prove that you intentionally lost the first point in your service game by double fault. Tennis is the easiest sport to fixing, just dont be completely stupid.

No, of corse she didn’t. How could I have forgotten that she denied it and we should all believe her.

    Hello there!
Did You, by any chance watch Zverev vs Marterer at US Open? Zverev basically lost (when leading) 40-0 on opponent's serve then lost his own serve, then again lost after leading 40-0, then of course in 2.set tiebreak he did (if im not mistaken) 2 double faults. I'm just asking, as someone much less knowledgeable in this topic, tennis enthusiast and fan. I might be wrong after all, cause it's the highest level of the sport. Would really apprieciate your look on this situation
