Hey guys! It's Zach here! I’ve collected tons of random boops n’ bops over the years, but never knew what to do with them. This video actually helped me figure out how to highlight the things I love and part with the things just taking up space. I didn’t throw away anything I loved. Some stuff got water damage in storage (like my Eternal Sunshine VHS and Lion King copy) and was actually just garbage taking up space lol. All the toys now have cute & prime placement around the house for the first time ever☺️ Maggie did such an incredible job putting the rest of our place together and making it somewhere we both felt represented and comfy. We love our place. Also the video creates a false dichotomy between our stuff - I was involved in decorating with every room. But for the office it was really important to me to step up and show that I was equally invested in making our apartment a home

I hope you guys do a second part to this series where you follow up a few months later; like a lot of HGTV home decorating shows do. That way the fans can see how the redecorating helped you guys as a couple since the "problem area" was fixed, if you're keeping up with it, and how it may have inspired you to do other things around the house (such as put you are boops n' bops out and about and not just in the one room) 😊

I feel we are all coming back from the doc completely bewildered by how nasty pple were to Ariel and Maggie. I had no idea this had happened! Wtf? They are loving women to their partners, to the other try guys and their partners, the crew... They were not being hateful towards Zach for asking him to redecorate and putting aside his toys, they were giving him another perspective. Also, people, they are just toys! Things!

@BasicallyBrentt They made the craft table from wood that Ariel cut & painted before hand. Yeah some chains might help, but if they used the right hinges it should be fine as long as she doesn't say sit on it.

After watching behind the try, I came back to watch this and I was so alarmed. First of all, hating on people is never okay. Second of all, Ariel and Maggie were doing a great job, and absolutely didn’t deserve any of the criticism they got. Not to mention that Ariel STARTS by asking Zach what he wants, because they know he’s trying to make it fit Maggie’s taste, but she wants him to know that his space and opinions still matter.
Hate is never okay, and especially when everyone is doing something good and new and brave.
We love you guys, and though I doubt you’ll see this comment, please know that most of us love and support you, and genuinely enjoyed this video ❤️

I think the thing that bothers me the most here is that when Ariel (and Maggie) started to get some backlash, it seems that nobody asked THEM what THEY wanted. Ned basically said "but I worked hard!" And kept it up. Were the people who were cyber bullied asked what they would like to happen with the video? Obviously it was upsetting to Zach, I'm guessing for Ariel and Maggie it had to be even worse
I know it was never said explicitly in the documentary, but I feel like Maggie definitely asked for it to be taken down. I think that she gave out the vibe that she really didn’t like it and wanted it to be taken down so Zach did it for her. She should’ve had a voice in the documentary though, both of the women should’ve been able to also talk about their side of the story. They were obviously the victims here in the situation. But I’d like to think that Zack did take the video down because Maggie expressed that she wanted it taken down.

it seems like y’all are forgetting that the guys have been friends for 5+ years and both couples in the video have been together for a substantial amount of time. the jokes and things they are saying to each other is just their banter and the characters they “play” in every video. i’m sure if zach wasn’t ok with getting rid of his books and bops and continuing maggie’s aesthetic into the room it wouldn’t have happened. they wanted functionality in the room and it needed to be cohesive with the rest of the house. they clearly both like what the room looks like now and it’s also clear that zach isn’t upset with anything happening in this video. i literally don’t know where people see problems in this episode

Honestly Zach had some really interesting memorabilia. I’m glad that some of the bips and baps made it into the final room, but dang they really cut down. The records I hope the didn’t just get rid of cause collections aren’t cheap. Idk, I’m glad with the final product, but the editing was not great where it went from “come on zack we’re trashing everything” straight to “oh you can keep some of your stuff” instead of showing the decision process of what stays as decor for the space

I'm confused by some of these comments because I personally love how we incorporated all of Zach's special items in the bookshelf and on his desk and framed his posters. They're way more featured now. They were cluttered in a drawer or in a pile on the floor before. Also, in this series we only donate or give away items that the person wants to part with and never just throw things away. The point is to highlight our items that are the most special, so we can appreciate them every day while making the overall space more functional and organized so that you actually use that desk or sit on that couch. yall realise that these people are all best friends and all obviously care about each other, they're not gonna force Zach to get rid of things he loves, and de-cluttering is good and really satisfying! also if I see any hate to ariel or maggie then I'm gonna flip my shit cause those two are so sweet and literal angels-
Part of the bad vibes most likely comes from editing, making it look like Ariel is just talking down about both guys all the time, but it didn't help that when Zach said his stuff brought him joy then 10 seconds later Ariel said "you like your stupid stuff because it makes you feel stupid so why not like pretty and organized stuff so you can feel pretty and organized"
I think the issue is that both seem to push their partners likes and hobbies into hidden places that are sometimes hard to get to.
If the genders were reversed it would seem really bad, like that photo post about the mom with the mug collection.

I can't get over how badly I want this to be a real show on HGTV. For one thing, "Ariel knows what she's doing, and I'm her husband" the intro is hilarious but also having the wife be the hands-on figure is a refreshing and empowering twist on traditional home-makeovers. But even beyond that, as a young professional, I need ways to save money and I love seeing how much you can do yourself to save and still have a nice-looking home. Try DIY is so relevant in every way and I absolutely love watching!

This is such a fun series!! I love how confident Ariel is in transforming spaces into something totally different. And it’s fun seeing some of the relational dynamics too. I know stuff is played up for the camera, but the idea of combining two households of things really is a good metaphor for relationships. It’s all about figuring out what you value and what you want to communicate about those values. I think it’s sweet that Zach realized he fell down on the job with this room and got help to make it a space they can both enjoy.
I’m in the middle of moving, and even when you’re just moving on your own you really have to examine your possessions and reckon with all the junk you’ve collected over the years. It’s surprising how emotional of a process it can be.
I’m excited to see how they make over Ariel’s sister’s place! Studios are really challenging.

Not trying to be THAT person but watch the Try Guys documentary. Zach unlisted this video because Ariel was getting hate, and Ned cared more about “his” project being taken offline. Should Zach have consulted the guys first? Absolutely. But NED should have cared more about his wife getting cyber bullied than his project being removed.
I came back to this video exactly because of this ^ I'm also completely baffled that she got hated on. What the actual f... I guess it must have been because of the boops and bops thing, that never sat right with me tbh but harassment is going too far. I also didn't like how they addressed action figure and "nerdy stuff" in the You Can Seat With Us podcast but really, it's not to go THAT far.
That being said, Ned really didn't care about her getting bullied and that says a lot.

All of these people talking about how “Maggie didn’t let Zach have any input” have clearly 1. Ignored HIS comment saying that’s false and 2. It is SO hard existing on the internet as a woman. Just wanted to give kudos to both Maggie and Ariel for persisting and continuing to be present. I don't think this video showed who either of you are in reality, but as time has gone on and you've been able to be yourselves more, I think more people grew to appreciate and love you.

Coming back here after the documentary. I remember watching this video when it originally came out and I loved it!. I cant believe so many trolls commented on this. I love this Series with Ariel. I dont think it will come back, but I am hopeful that perhaps they'll revive it once Corona is over.
Ariel is a gift and Maggie is a perfect angel. It's realistic to reevaluate the things we have as we get older and I'm glad Zach shared his process.
Not quite sure why everyone seems to have missed the part where all Zach's "toys", books, and posters were used as decor. They threw out stuff that wasn't usable and was taking up space, like the magazine covers.

There was more than that. Go back and look at the shelf behind Zach's desk. There were also a few other pieces on the desk and around the room. But they're small and pretty subtle. You have to be looking for them.

I am always surprised that when couples move in together, they throw away/hide what they like and replace it with stuff that looks nice but often is just useless. (Nobody actually needs decorative vases and bookends do they?)
Seriously. Their house looks like a show room, was there even pictures of them in the living room. It seriously looked like something you see on pintrest, no personality, just clean lines. Also if my future husband ever asked my to hide away either my books or ribbons, he would not be my husband for long. Both partners should be able to show who they are in a room and who they are together as well.
Book ends and vases can be very useful but I agree with the rest of what you said. It is a pretty space but shows zero personality of either of the people living there

To everyone freaking out, Zach only got rid of things that he could let go of. It’s what you do when you’re renovating. It was a surprise for Maggie so of course we didn’t see Maggie’s side of getting rid of things. It was about Zach doing something special. Show some love. They did a great job and incorporated his boops and bops.

People need to realize that they're friends. They have all known each other for _years_ and are all very close. Of COURSE they would never throw away things that Zach really cares about. Of COURSE they're going to make jabs at him. When Ariel calls his stuff "stupid" she isn't some random person insulting his stuff just to insult his stuff. They have known each other for years and are ribbing each other, especially seeing as how this a UA-cam video and they _always_ play it up for the content. Maggie and Ariel did nothing wrong. And anyone accusing Maggie of making Zach throw away his stuff?? She wasn't even involved in that part!! Zach himself outright says she won't even admit that he let her down when he didn't follow through on a promise!! Of Course she isn't making him get rid of anything he loves. (No hate to Zach tho, he very clearly wanted to do right by her, given the entire existence of this video. What matters is the desire and effort to do better and you all seem as though you constantly put that effort in to improve)
Ariel did nothing wrong. She's been around the entire goddamn time. She knows the Try Guys WAY better than any of us ever will. So think about that when you assume she has ill intent just because she made a joke at a _friend's_ expense. It's what friends do. She made a joke while also putting time and effort into helping him fix up his house and aiding him in an incredibly important transition in his life. If you watched this video that is entirely about her putting immense thought, time, and manual fucking labor into helping a friend with a change that He Requested and you came away from it thinking she crossed a line?
