@HellyBelly93 USA loves gmos and glyphosate. Soy is also a hormone disruptor in itself. I know I don't want my estrogen all out of whack or to be ingesting a chemical that brings down our IQ. We need all the help we can get from those who eat ultra-high processed foods. Hard pass.
This is why I love Dr Mindy. She brings us these amazing people who have exception knowledge in all these individual health areas which coincide with everything she’s already taught us. I find it fascinating how greatly food can impact our health and her eagerness and excitement to bring this info to us is so commendable. And organic soy is around $2 and mixed with some frozen veggies is a small investment. Prioritize people. She’s bringing us gold here!! ❤❤❤❤
Love your new book, "Eat like a girl". Cook from it most days. The desserts are amazing. I keep monitoring my CGM to see if my glucose will good up post dessert, but it pleasantly remains stable. My husband is now on board after seeing my positive results. Thank you again. Life is better with you in it . ❤🎉
Dr. Mindy! This is off topic but I wanted to let you know that if you made an app that contained a period tracker/eat like a girl/fast like a girl combined I would 100% pay to use it. I just started using period tracker called 28 and while scrolling through the app I thought hmmmm I would love if you had an app that showed me what phase I was in and the food/fasting info associated with that phase right in my phone! I have your books and love everything I’ve learned from them but it would be so convenient in an app form ☺️ Love you Dr. Mindy and blessings to you and yours!
The issue with soy is that it's mostly gmo in the US. It's really hard to get and afford organic non-gmo soy. Anything processed or gmo is not good choices no matter what the US govt or anyone else says.
I agree with this, it's the most heavily sprayed crop with pesticides and I think Dr Mindy and co really need to be making people aware of this if they aren't already
I am a breast cancer survivor. I had estrogen positive recurring (multiple times) breast cancer in both breasts. I was told by someone in my oncologist's office that I should avoid soy at all costs as it could mimic estrogen. I have followed this advice. After going through so many, many surgeries, I have been left with a body that gives me pain every single day. The one thing that I can do is eat right and try to do my best stay healthy. Thank you so much Dr. Pelz for bringing Dr. Li to us. I learned so much from him! He really explained things so well. I now understand the misconception about soy and will add it to my diet. I have your book Fast Like a Girl, but I need to order your new one.
I'm with you, except that I had a cardiologist that told me to "get rid of the breast tissue--you don't need it". I told her my cancer team was fighting me on that idea. Then she gave me 3 references, saying "you need a new team of doctors". Post surgery I also refused chemo and radiation. So far, I'm doing just fine.
@@carolyn7691 I am sorry to hear that you had to go through this also. I did have a double mastectomy and radiation. My problems mostly come from subsequent infections that set in during attempts at reconstruction. I have honestly been left a total mess... but, I am hanging in there and taking each day enjoying it. I have not had another return of cancer so life is good.
I can’t get past tofu in my misso soup. I’ll try I may eat about three squares but I can’t get past the textures. And it’s taste less. But oh boy I love natto
I try not to eat soy because it is so highly processed. But also because estrogen worsens endometriosis. Is soy good or bad for people with endometriosis?
@NolineLudick I won't eat soy because of the estrogen effect. Do some research and ask your lady parts doctor if you can add it to your diet. Better safe than sorry.
@@hazelbite Thank you; I appreciate your response. Our doctors are not really trained in nutrition, and unless a doctor has a serious interest in nutrition, they don't prioritize staying up to date. But, like you, I am cautious.

I realize reviews are more like opinions, but some reviews on his book are pretty scathing... especially from folks who used it to try to help cancer patients with very poor results. So sad. We all need to be very mindful about what 'information' we buy into. Everyone is trying to sell something these days... I already eat and drink many foods on his list. There are lots of research oriented resources that promote the same foods. Completely agree that true health care begins at home.
If the women in the study all had cancer, and they were almost all vegetarian and ate mostly soy based foods for their vegetables, then that sounds kind of concerning to me.
The first study was about finding the soy molecule or what ever he called it was in women just to see what was there. The other studies were of women with breast cancer Different studies.
Sure, natural, organic, non-GMO SOY is great. The problem is that the good "soy" is expensive and most of the soy available is GMO. I'm not hearing you say that AND the GMO doesn't have to be put on the packaging. There is no way to know and just like corn, over 90% of soy on the market is GMO.
@DrMindyPelz I would be interested to hear Dr Mindy's view on neutropenia. I eat a ketogenic diet with the aim of reducing inflammation. Does low inflammation levels make the body generate fewer neutrophils, due to a lower demand? When I have a feast day before a blood test, the neutrophil levels are 'better.' Whether better means comparable to people eating grains and starch, I don't know. I asked the GP if lower levels of inflammation from healthy eating could reduce neutrophil levels and I was told no. On the positive, I get priority for vaccinations 🙂.
He always talks about match, everyone I would include organic matcha my liver enzymes get high, and they go down when I eliminate it, so I guess not for everyone is it healthy. Be aware that can happen since it does for me.
Soy --(high quality soy)
Matcha green tea
Tomatoes
Brassica vegetable family like broccoli and turnip
All berries
Nuts
Thank you! I would avoid soy because of gmos, though.

I am as well. I can’t eat tofu, it made me have big, red, painful blisters on my face after eating it.
I think it depends on how processed the soy is. That’s the danger with most substances, it’s what we do with it before we consume it. 😅
