  • The Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, is trying to scare people from voting Labour instead of convince people to back his party. In this interview with Kay Burley of Sky News, he claimed that Keir Starmer would release asylum seekers, raise people's taxes and introduce French employment laws?

A significant proportion of the British people voted, time and again, to give away their employment rights over the course of four decades. Treated like s**t and zero rights. You can forget legal action because the present govt cuts access to legal aid in most areas, only the rich have access to the law in the UK.

@@luminousfractal420Oh, please. The Tories literally culled the elderly, during the pandemic. But jeez, I am not unaware of their grieving relatives. Young people know that a great deal of old people were once the feistiest of Union members and kind souls who lent a cup of sugar to their neighbours. But most were uneducated empire dreaming fascists. So I don't know what else to say. Tory stupidity killing their own voter base.. but even now, it was still mass slaughter, regardless of their voting intentions. 😢

Bobby Duffy, director of the Policy Institute at King’s College London: "Of 24 nations included in a study, people in the UK emerge as the least likely to say work is important in their life. Around one in four of those surveyed in the U.K. said work is very or rather important to them. That’s a much lower proportion than in the U.S. and France, where 80% and 94% said the same, respectively. "

Nobody has taken workers rights away more than the Tories, starting with Thatcher who attacked the NUM knowing it was the strongest union

Shapps is fooling no one! Time for the electorate to vote them out. Project fear doesn't work. 14 years of failure is there to be seen - Shapps should explain why we should vote for the tories and not for a change.

One of the positives from this election is seeing low quality politicians like Shapps, Mogg etc. losing their seats. Unfortunately this still leaves the likes of Braverman, Jenrick and Truss in Parliament resulting in certain swing to a more extreme Right hopeful leading to oblivion.

Who in their right mind would vote for Truss (who never did anything for their district) or Braverman (who wanted to be known as even more evil Patel and was fired twice from the job)?

Thanks to people like him we could end up with what’s effectively a one-party state, not because Labour enforce that but because there’s no effective, electable opposition party. Wouldn’t it be ironic if the Tories’ lasting legacy was indefinite Labour rule.

The P&O fiasco came instantly to my mind the moment he made references to comparing French and UK employment laws; so how is it that a politician would forget or dismiss this when make an argument to promoter better UK employment law?

That awful place called France, where workers get some of the best protections in the world while being around 20% more productive than their British counterparts. Must be awful.

You see, in the UK today; an affordable roof over your head, a functioning health system, a job that at least gives you a bit of cash at the end of month to have some diversion, a tiny bit of quality of life so you aren't driven half mad by the stress of paying bills etc... rivers and beaches that won't make you seriously ill if you go in them are all ''aspirational'' now. ''Of course dear boy, we'd ALL like that but, you see, how WOULD the rich get richer...?!

Good example with the British P & O staff who were made redundant/sacked under Grant Shapps who was Transport Minister and lets not forget the train strikes that started under the hopeless Shapps and are still going on. You have one of those desperate cabinet minister who is very likely to lose his seat scaremongering when they have failed british workers.
