$20.00 say's you'll think this is one of the most beautiful cars every built very soon, 'cause it is.
Old Packards are way too cool. Love them.
any car from the 50s and 60s is beautiful and this Packard is beautiful
Spark plug cleaner, tester so cool
x2
It's been decades since the last time I saw one of those. They were pretty common in gas stations a long time ago.
Impressively complete and a really lovely exterior! I'm a big fan of cars of this era!
I worked on one in high school shop class Mr Spring every year bought a old car for the different automotive classes to restore. Big old beast Mr Spring had lots of old cars us kids worked on. Free labor that was 1969. Thanks for the video. From my hill top in Sc.
Cool story thank you for watching
I hope you're are going to do more on this car. This video just made me want to see more.
Just have a new vid out!
Yes! I wonder what kind of mileage it’ll get? So cool to work with your old man. I lost my father to cancer about 4 years ago. I think about him everyday.😊
Sorry to hear that . We work together often !
If you're pouring straight gas directly down the carburetor throat, you don't need the choke plate closed...it's got plenty of fuel, it doesn't need enrichening.
Straight 8. I would love to go for a trip in that beauty!
It may not be the most beautiful car that came out of Detroit, but it's beautiful! Man-o-day what a find!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is very little rust on that car. An amazing find. Kudos 👌
desert cars don't rust
Oh WOW ROGER THANKS SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY AND LOOK OUT FOR ME AND GIVE ME A HEADS UP ABOUT THE HANTA VIRUS! ANY F IN TIME DUDE GLAD I WAS ABLE TO HELP YOU OUT
Thank you
She’s a beautiful car!
Packard used to make spark plug wires for just about any car. They were called "Packard 440" wires and were top quality.
Yea I didn’t know that!
Packard Electric was acquired by GM in 1932. It later became Delphi.
Cool Packard Travis.
Hey Travis....that Packard is one gorgeous automobile!!!!!
I’m glad you think so
Got to love an inline 8. Just great engines 👍👍
Like a tank
You should always use 2 stroke gas when starting something that's been setting for along time
That packard is beautiful!
Beautiful car. Nice video, thanks.
Always satisfying to see old engines like that still able to run after all this time. You won't find any car made now that'll be willing to start on original parts 70 years from now
Probably not
+
Give half of them ten let alone 70
Im so excited to see where this goes ☺️
I "thumb-uped" the video the moment you guys cleaned everything before starting work on it instead of working all over the animal crap while trying to get it started like most people do. Yeah, definitely not the prettiest car but she's got spirit and she's got it where it counts.
thats a true beauty
Be sure to run lead additives and high zinc oil in that, or you'll burn it up. Sweet car!
This is the definition of a barn find
Fyi, There is also a brand of plug wires name Packard still produced today.
Cool dude!
Very nice to see a straight eight flathead roaring into life.
Love this. Packard. Thanks ❤❤❤
What a beautiful car ! Brilliant job
I think it’s a pretty cool looking car,
Such a Beautiful car ! I watched my dad build a 55 Packard when I was little. They’re difficult but rewarding !
Love your videos and tik toks! Please keep doing them! I am anxiously waiting for the next one!
awesome guys, wish I could had done it with my dad
good ol car Travis packards were always a solid unit
Yep built tough
Got that strat 8 love those cars
Neat old car! Great to see it run!😁⚒️🛠️
Love your TikToks and videos keep it up man
👏🏻🙏 thank you
Always have heard Packard made a great car: wish they were still made today the same way they were built back then.
We couldn’t even start paying for them.
I love the 50 Packard, original flat head 8 and all 40s and 50s chevys. I have a 1953 Chevy 5 window I drive it everyday. Would love to drive that 50 Packard congrats it started right up.
what a beautiful sight!
Actually, Packard made spark plug wiring to sell to the public for several years, even into the sixties as I remember. The spark plug wires in this car, even though they have the Packard name on them, may or may not be the originals.
Interesting didn’t know that
Absolutely right, Packard wires were the best back in the day !
There were even Packard electric motors made for things like washers but as I recall there was a GM connection to them same as with the plug wires, maybe someone else can shed a little light on this.
Packard still makes wire. In fact, they are a big wire company to this day, when I redid my 1917 Buick I used Packard neon sign wire. They make wire for 10,000 volt neon signs, it's copper wire with black rubber outer made for exterior neaon signs. I bought 10 feet of the neon sign wire and used the original terminals for perfect spark plug wires
It's called Packard 440 Wire and they sell miles of the stuff these days, it's the best wire on earth. The inner wire is tinned copper, you can't get better than tinned copper
Great video
very nice car. I like the big fastback look.
I always thought they were called Packard Belle
I like the 8 cylinder US motors - simple and build for a long lifetime.
That's awesome, coof find!
Body in amazing condition. Clean her up, detail that exterior and put in a new interior...drive it. Ps. The red wheels would look great on it with baby moons. Look forward to more videos on this car. Subscribed
I actually like the yellow with the red wheels. That Packard seems to be in great shape thanks to being covered.
Yeah definitely saved it
great job.
Oh, man you really got to have a plan for this car. I agree, not the most handsome car on the planet but probably the most valuable I seen so far here. Dont let it just sit alone and rotten! And another thing for this channel; I wish so much you would "clean it up a bit" and make some more tidy "play lists". It wil make it so much easier to surf this channel. Yeah, it will take some time and work, but the sooner the better for you. You have to remember; you are already over 120K subs now. Thanks for sharing all the content you do and keep it up. I will be here, in Norway, watching with great pleasure!
16:22 IT'S ALIVEEEE!!!!!!!!💪
If memory serves me correctly, there used to be a spark plug wire manufacturer that had the same name but made wires for all makes and models of cars.
I personally love the way the face on that car looks. It's different. It's a head turner. And speaking of finding coins in a car, after I bought a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88......in one of the rot holes between the quarter panel and trunk, was caked up dirt mixed with over $20 in rolled coins.......mostly pennies. Lol. I was in shock. 😄
Finally someone cleans the car, checks compression and spark. I see so many of these guys who claim to be experts fiddling for hours with the motor covered in junk- old dirty plugs and a half-charged battery.
Thank you
Amazing. I just cannot believe how well preserved these cars are, absolutely amazing. You guys both do really great work. I really enjoy watching your channel.
I see that you'll be in New Jersey. Where abouts? I live in South Jersey myself,
Hey that packed would look awesome with Whitehall tires and red rimes and baby moons .
if you want them old cars to start without burning up your starter and battery use starting fluid. it works better than brake cleaner and if you buy the premium it has cylinder lubricant. I used it to start a fleet of trucks for 50 years and I never become up with it.
I love a bathtub Packard
Watching you pour that mystery oil into those cylinders like you had a sponsorship made me laugh my ass off for some reason😅
Wow I didn’t know that packard is inline 8 cylinders!
Doc Emmett Brown drove a car just like that in Back to the Future.... it was even the same color
This would be an excellent candidate for a restoration job! Keep it original (6-volt system,16-inch wheels [those wheels on it appear to be 15-inch], super build!
The original wheels Are 15"
Klasse
I remember using one spark plugs cleaner good tool to have
Definitely odd looking but still very cool. I’d take seeing these on the road over crossover SUVs any day
I would pull my vehicle next to that car put a rubber hose on the end of the exhaust stick it in one of those visors let that run for about an hour so that way either the mice will leave or they'll die there and then you won't be bringing home live mice at least not as many.
Very cool car excellent find. Can't wait to see the progress.
I'm curious to see the condition of the floors in the car having been subjected to rat waste for so long. Hopefully, they can be saved. It's really the foundation of the car and has a lot to do with whether this car is going to be a worthwhile restoration candidate.
Floors and trunk do have some rust unfortunately
Me too… hear anything? Interestingly, remembers some old cars we had.
Cool car, wish you’d have discussed a little bit about the engine specs. We didn’t know it was a straight eight until you were removing the plugs.
That gas ain’t gonna scald you none.
First!!! I love you’re channel! I have a 1949 dodge coronet!
That’s awesome 💪🏼 and thank you
Packard wire different company, but could be original wires.
Good C
Very solid and complete except for the interior but it can be brought back. Not good that it was left without the hood on; you get a lot more dirt and rust in the engine compartment, not to mention the possibility of water and debris getting into the motor.
Didn’t see the fan turning; is the belt broken?
Water pump locked up
I used to have a large role of Packard plug wire I'm guessing you didn't buy a set of wires but a role and cut it to length ?
Well done!! I just rescued a similar packard, could you explain me the starting wiring you did to start the car this way, please. Much appreciated
Formação Brasil beautiful andar Nice cara esplendid
Hey Travis - great stuff- but do me/us a favor. Could you number your sequencing videos so we can follow them in order that they are made? Thanks! Dave
Good idea thanks
love that old packard -how come the fan wont turn ?
water pump is seized
That pack rat stuff is good frrtalizrr though. Or compost.
It is in great condition body wise, and the chrome has held up well.
The dashboards on those Packards were beautiful, nothing like the plastic crap in cars these days.
Just subbed
Thank you !

Hello Travis and Rick ! How much for the 1950 Packard ? I ewant to drive it home to Houston, Texas. Let me know when and where. Love your videos and content. God bless y'all.
Hey John this car is sold already. And thanks for watching us
Always pour an eggcup of fuel in the carb when trying to start old engines so that the fuel can start evaporating and filling the intake with fumes as no fuel will be sucked through the jets until engine is running!
Besides being a fun project. What else would one do with these cars?
Remember, the piston is not directly below the spark plug hole. So when you shoot lube straight down, you're shooting it onto the valves. Next time bend your straw into a slight 90 degree bend and shoot it towards the other side of the combustion chamber.
The lubricant will hit the valves though gravity will force it on top of the pistons
Please tell me you checked the oil first?
Yes lol
did all cylinders get a good mixture from that little carburettor?
Bet that could go 50mph on a good down hill ride.
Plug wires probably aren’t original. They used to sell Packard 440 plug wires. Don’t think they had anything to do with Packard cars.
THE OLD GIRL LOOKS LIKE A MERCURY FROM THE THE FRONT DOORS YOU CAN ALL WAY DO A KUSTOM ON IT
Dissapointing they did'nt continue with more video towards getting the car going.
I used to own a '50 Packard, complete car and solid black. When I left for Basic Training some anal born turds broke into it and destroyed the interior. The car was so badly wrecked inside with the wiring and everything ripped out that it was just cheaper to sell it for salvage. I never found out who did it but there's a very HOT spot that they deserve to spend eternity "enjoying"!
I would be beyond pissed. Wow
I hope you aren’t trying to run it on the gummed up 40 year old gas in the tank!
I have never clicked on a video so fast before
Respect that. Thank you
@@theetravisb yeah I followed you on tiktok since the first episode of the Cadillac limousine. I love your content
@@guyvanbrussel9772 bro why?
@@guyvanbrussel9772 yeah I agree, but you really don’t have to go on a literal rant
@@guyvanbrussel9772 lol
Did you change the oil first? I hope you dropped the pan to get the old sludge out. If you start a car on 40 year old oil, it will ruin the bearings
One year only car.
Hey Travis, I know that you can use your hands the way you want but I used to hit wrenches and ratchets with the palm of my hand too. I was a machinist by trade and a shade tree mechanic all my life. I am now 73. In my late 40's I had extreme pain in both hands anytime I used them for any kind of work. I went to Dr. and he sent me for xrays and then to a surgeon and eventually both of my hands were operated on for carpal tunnel syndrome. Take my advice young man and STOP hitting tools with your hands ! May God bless you and yours.
Thank you for the tip. Appreciate it
