Lutrell's story was celebrated because the Navy would never admitted they fucked up so bad sent their men to die for nothing.

The truth was out there all along. You can even look at the photo diagram of where the bodies were found. It happened very fast and in a very small area. There was no massive battle. It was fast and brutal. You can even see the video that shows a force of MAYBE 12 Taliban ambushing them. They were in a draw, and got rolled up from above with nowhere to go.

Lutrell used Gulab as a pawn to promote his movie. Once Marcus got his money, Gulab was never able to hear from him again. Some sources even say that Lutrell's family reported to the authorities that they felt like Gulab could be a threat to their safety.
They both made an appearance on 60 minutes I think, and apparently before the ITW started, the interpreter came up to Gulab and told him "whatever events or stories Marcus tells, always confirm that they are true, ok?".

Lone survivor is not thst accurate. It has all the majorr events correct but does not show how it really happened.
The taliban opened fire first. They ambushed the seals and a seal yells "im hit" during thr initial gunfight. Infact the taliban did not lose anyone(could be a lie for propaganda) but it is officially documented thst the taliban recieved no causalties. The taliban had the high ground and had supressive fire via pkm machineguns. I dont think micheal ran to a high position to make the call. If you look at the footage. No high position/cliff can be seen. You can hear micheal yell "troops in contact" however.
Micheal and danny where killed at the ambush site. Micheal however was initially wounded and can be heard asking luttrel to help him. They where seperated by machine gun and rpg fire.
Luttrel and axelson ran and were split up. The group that killed axelson can be heard saying "fast, fast, he's fast, dont let him get away, surround him". He was killed moments later
Hollywood showed it as a heroic last stand. The SEALS are badass and brave but everyone is human and very vulnerable to bullets. You can imagine how easy it was for the taliban. Superior numbers. Encirclement. Superior firepower. They where able to get the first shot off and their machinegun suppression allowed their foot soldiers to flank and close the gap safely.
The SEALS are brave without a doubt. In the footage you can hear taliban members say that "they(SEALS) are not going to surrender"
The whole thing was rediculous the chinook was supposed to arrive after the apaches but was instead infront and without gunship support.

Marcus explained to the book that most of the scene of Lone Survivor is not accurate and not true at all. He basically run away when they encounter the Taliban. If you watch the full length uncut footage of the actual encounter online, you can hear the navy seals yelling Marcus desperately because they need help but marcus is separated and runaway. You can see them crossing big rocks, taking cover. You can hear them couple of times calling for help. Too bad because he wasn't there.. He's a coward.

Dietz, Murphy and Axelsons families have all come out and disputed key elements of Luttrells story and a couple of the families have even said the story Marcus told them was very different from the story in the movie. A couple of US military officials have also called out Luttrell, but hey never let the truth get in the way of some good propaganda. Luttrells story (which he gets paid 60 grand to tell) has changed wildly over the years too and he even caused some controversy years back when he said that Axelson actually survived out there, for two weeks, while being horribly wounded. He said before and after that all 3 of his team members died next to him. He got paid a lot to tell a great story for the DoD.
And he’s not the only one that’s been called out. Obviously Chris Kyle proved to be a pathological liar and Robert “I’m the man that killed Osama Bin Laden” O’Neill.

@@justinhorras920 Mohammad Gulab(not sure about the first name), the man who saved Rutrell from Shah and his men. He shed some light on how the militia in the area operated, their manpower, and a lot of details Rutrell added to his book.
Unlike the movie, Rutrell didn't get beat up and almost get beheaded. In fact, Shah came to Gulab's village and demanded him to handed Rutrell to him, but Gulab refused, citing an ancient law of hospitality that he had the right to protect his guest. Shah returned several times to repeat the same demand which Gulab refused him every time.

The intel wasn't that good, and the comm device they had was shitty, but the Navy insisted they were going to send only 4 Seals who weren't even that experienced. You probably are not going to like this, but Murphy paid the ultimate prize that he exposed himself to the gunfire trying to get the exfil because that shitty comm he insisted to bring along was busted, and frankly, if he didn't try to get the exfil, the casualty might've stopped at 3.
Again, Murphy did what he believed to save his friends knowing he would've died, and it wasn't his fault that the Seals chopper raced ahead of its gunship escort and got shot down because nobody was covering them

The op was originally supposed to be a USMC mission but the SEALs swipped it from them and ignored all the advice given by the Marines such as long-distance radios, where to infiltrate, and the weapon systems needed, you could guess how well that played out for them. Oh yeah and Marcus Luttrell probably didn't even fight either, when the rescue team found him he was passed out behind a rock with all of his mags still full.

Mohammed Gulab, the Man who Saved Marcus & even though they do not speak anymore said, Marcus had shrapnel throughout his back & legs. The Army Rangers who questioned Marcus's firefight story said Marcus had several broken veterbrae, broken legs, over 40 pieces of shrapnel throughout his body, his tongue was almost completely severed, both knees had torn ACL'S & Meniscus ! Every Year since his injuries from Lone Survivor, Marcus has to spend almost 1 Full MONTH @ a V.A. in FLORIDA to keep him Walking Normal, to keep his BACK Straight & his Knees & Hips working properly & a host of other injuries, as healed as possible.
P.S. No1 even Talks about the Fact that Marcus didn't Bow Out of the not only the Navy Seals but the Navy altogether. Marcus stayed on Active Duty until he was Injured again in IRAQ on Missions with his NAVY SEAL Brother's !!

Hate to be this way but the majority of people’s issues with Marcus are based on shaky cuts of 5 minutes of Taliban camera footage, the words of Gulab a non-English speaker, and VA records.
For one 5 minutes from a random Taliban camera man not even in the fight isn’t worth much to mention. The VA frequently underrates or ignores shit. And Gulab and other Afghans aren’t reliable sources in my experience.

This whole fuckup could've been avoided if the SEALs had just listened to the Marines that went before them. The op was originally supposed to be a USMC mission but the SEALs swipped it from them and ignored all the advice given by said Marines such as long-distance radios, where to infiltrate, and the weapon systems needed. They didn't even fight that much taliban, footage from the Taliban's side of the battle showed the numbers the SEALS were up against was atleast squad sized. Oh yeah and Marcus Luttrell probably didn't even fight either, when the rescue team found him he was passed out behind a rock with all of his mags still full of rounds.
Marcus Luttrell is a fucking liar and his team were a bunch of incompetent egotistical fuckheads who had their heads so far up their ass.
