Warhammer 3 has been a massive disappointment for adding more mechanics to the game. You could add Caravan battles, Battles to assassinate diplomats to prevent alliances, Confederation/Vassal battles to make the endgame better. Any of the added mechanics mods for factions: True Phoenix King Malekith, Dark Elf vs High Elf Rivalry, Vlad attempts to become emperor, or Tretch getting crazy strong Stormvermin.
Durthu is actually my favorite order tide campaign. The random missions that pop up can give you relation bonuses with various factions, and since you only really care about magical forest territories you can really get a lot of diplomatic gas out of gifting/selling non-forest territories off to your allies. Additionally your ability to teleport around the campaign map means you can show up and help your allies in a lot of different places. Uniting the world against chaos and destruction as Durthu can have strong LOTR vibes. It's a really fun campaign.
Played him as my first WE campaign on Immortal Empires and ended up painting the map with him. Once he gets rolling he's extremely hard to stop, and the WE unit roster is extremely good vs most opponents. Some Cavalry mixed with a Treeman stack was very strong for Durthu in particular, with few of the BranchWraiths to give AoE spells and let them just mulch most enemies. Cav to run down ranged units and slam into flanks while the treemen just blob up and keep themselves healed via life magic.
My first successful campaign was durthu, loved that faction ever since. Ended with around twenty full armies and plenty of income for more. The only reason I ended it was because I hit the grudge too far endgame and would have had to spend another 50+ rounds to clean out the dwarves. As a note, I get why people dislike that scenerio, its not too difficult, but grinding down dwarves takes waaayy too long to be much fun.
@@ryanfrancis3839 Kislev. Ended up completing the Short Campaign on turn 81 while at war with the entirety of the Chaos Wastes who all decided to attack me at once rather than fighting each other a bit :D
I know most people tend towards Sisters of Twilight or Drycha, but for me Durthu is the most enjoyable Wood Elf LL. The wall breaker trait on your treemen is really fun, and you can confederate all the other LLs. I also find you can do really really well with armies primarily composed of Glade Guards and Treekin, especially now that supply lines are lower in TWWH3 and you don't have to doomstack. Treekin are the best holding unit in the game and the version of Glade Guards with AP damage will take down basically anything if given time and space.
Imo the awakened forest attrition is worth getting asap. It kills replenishment and you bring it with you. Edit: Encamped enemies will replenish but damaged armies hiding inside a settlement will not.
I would also mention that I believe he's the only wood elf faction that can Confederate Drycha, which means he's the only legendary lord that can have all other legendary Lords in his faction.
I had Ariel with +215% mastery, it was a blast. it takes so much longer to get her than with Sisters though. Oh and his lord tree thing gives everyone -30% upkeep as well i thjink. Couldnt agree more on lamentation. Tree kin are so awesome now in game 3. Also i think the arrcher buffs are there to make up for the fact that you will use fewer archers, to even it out rather than spec into it
I love love love Durthu. There is something so satisfying about treemen doom stacks that buffed like crazy. It’s been done already but I’d love to see wood elf doomstacks in detail.
Loved playing durthu, raised up treemen lords, set them up on the offices qvailable and used the 4 points available to get the growth of argwylon going while durthu goes about razing settlements.
Currently playing Durthu campaign, been using treekin stack with a few waystalkers for pew pew, those treekin can hold the line forever pretty much. The only thing spoiling this campaign for me are the hero skill bugs, for some reason CA has not allocated enough skills for waywatcher and spellsinger hero's, so you will end up with them having unspent points at max level, which is kind of annoying as you have to keep skipping the multiple prompts every turn.
Whenever I play Durthu, it always turn into total war campaign. Everyone always wants piece of me so bad that I even had stuff like Couronne's army supporting Grom's one in fight againts me! The hell! Smacked them both though.
I loved my Durthu campaign, he is by far from what I’ve seen, one of the most powerful legendary lords ever. If you can micro manage him, he can solo half an army by himself. I was lucky to be playing with friends so I gave my friends all of my army except for Durthu and I managed to get like 300+ kills by myself
Durthu was one of my favorite lords to play in Mortal Empires. Loved being a giant, old, pissed off tree lol. Plus being the only faction that could confederate all Wood Elf LL's (I think) was fun. Gotta give him a whirl in IE soon
I actually really enjoy Durthu's attrition trait as It also can stop some replenishment which is huge for how I play. idk I like having a second army with the entire purpose of attacking shooting the enemy till I run outta ammo or start losing then I retreat with em and protect with Durthu
WEs and dorfs have really changed going from WH2 to 3. They used to just sit in their mountains or forests for 30 turns. Now ever empire campaign I play Durthu stomps out of his forest and absolutely smashes Nuln into pulp all while daring me to do something about it. Its never a question of if he will declare on me, it's a matter of when.
Oh so Durthu is it's name? As Franz, i've always known it as "reason to restart my campaign no.7." Remember kids, only you can start forest fires. Deforestation shall be the Empire's salvation.

Durthu were stronger in Warhammer 2. The fact that his weapon only has 3 charges of the built-in ability is sad, I enjoy stacking flock of doom with that bound spell. Also in Warhammer 3 I feel like treemen cant hit for shit.
Another thing to note about Argwylon, especially if you like to collect all LLs, is that his faction is the only one that can confederate all the other Wood Elf LLs. Drycha can only confed Durthu, and Orion/Sisters cannot confed Drycha

you and another fella both doing these reviews and apparently both going down the row/list, just seen this same campaign review yesterday. So far ya both recommending the same things
For some reason I find Durthu's faction not as fun to play as the other Wood Elves. I much rather start as Orion and confederate him when the Oak hits tier 3
"You can essentially bring down Isengard with that."
Honestly, that's probably why CA gave Durthu that ability.
Come now friends...
...the Treemen are going to *war* ...
IMO, all Wood Elf factions should contribute to the progress of the Oak of Ages, similar to the new mechanic for the Chaos Dwarfs' tower.
