I'm surprised Vince himself didn't leave Over The Edge '99 in a stretcher himself after forcing the wrestlers to continue the show, though I'm surprised they all didn't just cancel the show themselves in solidarity by not coming out at all after Owen's death.
These are exactly my thoughts. Were they so baffled that they couldn’t react against this heartless man? Or were they afraid? Were there attempts to stop the show? Was the accident addressed in the locker room? It’s just too intense and sudden of a moment to fathom how the people there were immediately affected by it.
It was a very difficult situation. I would have cancelled the show. However I wasn’t there so can’t really comment on what should or should not have been done in hindsight. It must have been a very difficult night and decision to make. What was eerie though is a wrestler dies at a PPV called “Over The Edge”, where he fell to his death and The Undertaker, giving his character, won the title that night too 🧐
They weren’t told Owen had died, just that he’d had an accident, and most of them didn’t see what happened. Not knowing any better, they did what they had to do and got through the night, and they all felt awful about it when they found out the truth.
I wish you would continue the series you used to do for Whatculture, the 10 fascinating facts about each PPV. Those list were very good. To this date, those videos are the best things on that terrible channel!

As a kid, I managed to beg my grandma enough to order PPVs for us. So at 10yo I got to see RR99 and WM15. So Foley/Rock "I quit", and Taker/Bossman Hiac. As a kid, I actually thought the stunt was super cool with the brood coming down and hanging bossman. But at 10yo I didn't know what a "good match" was. And even though I didn't understand it was a work I somehow just knew that it was a stunt and he wasn't actually dead. It wasn't until later when I became a jaded smark that I realized people hated everything about that match. Guess it was just a good memory to me because it was a time when I was super poor and got to order mania. Plus! I knew like...they would NEVER kill a man on PPV. (Sees #2 on this list) Oof. Glad I saw the cell match first >_>
The scariest thing about the Droz spot, was that it looked like a standard power bomb spot to transition to a commercial break or to cause a break in the match flow. Sometimes what seems like the easiest thing, turns out to be the most devastating
I rather enjoyed this video. I am happy that the beginning was lighthearted. But that ending... you have to play that one straight. Amazing list. The last few still hurt.
On the Cena entry, it’s worth noting that he actually submitted FOUR times on screen, he tapped out to Angle AGAIN in No Way Out 2004, in a triple threat with the Big Show to determine the no. 1 contender for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania

... Hell I don't blame Jeff Jarrett for walking out on the company when he did. If I had been made to cut a stupid promo after my one of my best friends had that accident, I would have resented WWE and Vince McMahon too!
I remember watching Candice Michelle crashing head first into the canvas from the top rope and knocking herself out and breaking her collarbone. I forget who she was wrestling. I think it was Beth Phoenix not sure though. That was a brutal impact, the sound of that hit sent chills up my spine
That ending gave me so much respect for Adam and wrestletalk. How many other channels would put something serious at number one and then go into the pitcb
Seeing different clips of wrestlers performing after Owen's fall is just haunting The one that hit me the most is the undertaker vs stone cold match, the camera was on Undertaker after he took off his coat and you can just see that he's on the verge of tears and you can even see him looking down at a spot on the ring where owen fell on.
About the Cena Tap Outs, Tapping out is not "giving up" Giving up relates to a much more long term goal in life. Cena has won and lost championships but even when he did lose he did so knowing that he would keep on fighting. There is a reason he resonates so strongly with Make a Wish. The idea of "Never give up" relating to moment to moment decisions is just a recipe for injury and burnout. If anything that should be the deeper message, that knowing when to walk away so you can come back stronger is part of "Never Giving Up".
Even though the WWE hates Benoit (for understandable reasons), his matches were actually never taken out of Raw, Smackdown, and PPV matches on Peacock. As for how I know...my mom and I have watched SEVERAL of his matches on Peacock.
im trying to inject some levity back into things, I hope that's ok. Can we all just appreciate that Shawn Michaels looks like the super secret many years too early 4th member of the shield in this?
Honestly, WWE deciding to murder someone in Philadelphia in the building currently known as the Wells Fargo Center (I'm not sure if it was still the CoreStates Center or the First Union Center at the time) is pretty bold, but rather on brand for Philly, especially South Philly
10:08 I guess Vin-man took Queen's The Show Must Go On a little too literally. Sometimes, you have to look a scenario like this, and ask yourself, "Does the show have to go on?" And in that moment, you whisper to them… "No."

What was eerie though is a wrestler dies at a PPV called “Over The Edge”, where he fell to his death and The Undertaker, giving his character, won the title that night too 🧐
Owen would’ve wanted it to go on
@@Huskersteeler91 shut up try hard troll
They weren’t told Owen had died, just that he’d had an accident, and most of them didn’t see what happened.
Not knowing any better, they did what they had to do and got through the night, and they all felt awful about it when they found out the truth.
I wish you would continue the series you used to do for Whatculture, the 10 fascinating facts about each PPV. Those list were very good. To this date, those videos are the best things on that terrible channel!
I wish
I wish Adam would bring that back.
That fast talking Adam from whatculture
Simons great though
He was part of the mass exodus from Whatculture with the rest of the Cultaholic crew.
Amazing list as always, and it's only made more painful as D'Lo Brown remains to be my favourite WWF/WWE Wrestler EVER! So that #1 hit different.
But thank you!
A new Adam list every Sunday feels like a Family tradition
For as much as WWE will tell you that Randy Orton is the youngest world champion, they'll most likely will never tell you who he RKO'ed in order to get that honor
Rest in peace Darren Drozdov. You could have been a legend, but fate gave you a bad hand. I'm just glad you didnt have hate in your heart and found a friend in your injury. Rest easy.
That Foley never gave the Rock a receipt for those chair shots is proof positive that he's the world's sweetest murder Santa
As a relative new viewer I didnt know most of these, feels weird to know them now. But also good to be reminded what dark side wrestling can has, be it accident, be it poor booking or anything else.
Stay safe and take care
Hey Adam!
How about a "main eventers 2030" list, where you look into the crystal ball and predict the main eventer of 2030. May be fun, may be hillarious in about 9 years =) DO IT!
Please don't remind us that 2030 is less than ten years away.
Please don’t remind me that we have to go through another phase where wwe build the company around 1 guy
@@Infernallycharged actually when I look forward, it's pretty much all AEW.
@@ShadicRothZz1998 we are closer to 2050 than 1990...
@@jonasaugustsson7806 the future of wwe is uncertain tbh, being someone who wants to wrestle, I’d love to see wwe improve instead of die out with my childhood ya know
Thanks Adam for another *banger*
Agree but is ashamed this one was dark, Very Dark!
Ah yes, a video filled with depression and anguish to remind us there is nothing scarier than real life horrific incidents.
Adam truly is a master of his craft, damn near Hitchcockian
Good work Adam.
Tone is as sharper tool in your hands as ever. Keep it up.
They just love to do these matches and then regret it later. They "hang" Big Boss Man and thought "WHAT A GREAT IDEA!" Just...no.
Well, WWE did post the Cena vs Angle match at No Mercy 2003 on UA-cam. So....
How this list went for "Oh yeah, that was a baaad one" to "Oh dear god, that one..."
Right? "Piper vs. Bad News? What could tha--OH SWEET JESUS!"
Very classy at the end. Well done.
To be fair there's no shame in tapping to 3 of the most famous submission holds in WWE. But I get why the kids would hate it anyway
(Sees #2 on this list)
Oof. Glad I saw the cell match first >_>
The scariest thing about the Droz spot, was that it looked like a standard power bomb spot to transition to a commercial break or to cause a break in the match flow. Sometimes what seems like the easiest thing, turns out to be the most devastating
Good stuff! I was sure you would mention Big Boss Man vs Nailz! One of the sickest/weirdest matches of all time!
A tough list to get through, to be sure, but one great thing came of that Big Show vs. Batista match: "You can't wrestle!" "I don't have to!"
I completely forgot about Vinny Mac's Du-Rag phase...
Or when he called Booker T my N****
I rather enjoyed this video. I am happy that the beginning was lighthearted. But that ending... you have to play that one straight. Amazing list. The last few still hurt.
Another vid that will enrich my vocabulary. Thanks Adam!
On the Cena entry, it’s worth noting that he actually submitted FOUR times on screen, he tapped out to Angle AGAIN in No Way Out 2004, in a triple threat with the Big Show to determine the no. 1 contender for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania
Love the Hitchhiker reference. Whole video was great, but you're a real hoopy frood for that.
I was at Over the Edge in KC.. I was 13, and didn't go to another live event for almost 20 years.
What do you say to little Timmy? "You ever seen a grown man naked, Timmy?"
Do you like movies about gladiators?
Do you ever go down to the YMCA and just hang out in the locker room?
Airplane! is one of the most quotable comedies ever made.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!
So this list is basically 10 matches WWE would want you to forget it.
This list is also basically 10 matches WWE want to vanish forever.
These 3 titles are just different ways of saying the same thing.
@@Crowvithian or 10 matches WWE regret.
@@outlawrip-offartist4161 That’s a good one.
10 matches WWE wish never happened.
@@outlawrip-offartist4161 As if Vince McMahon regrets anything on this list.
That scumbag firmly believes all publicity is good publicity, and baited negative press coverage enthusiastically for his whole career as WWE’s top dog!
@@Deadguy2322forreal everybody has regrets even Vince McMahon.
Man...1999 was dark.
4 of these were in 1999. Bossman being hanged, Rock smashing Foleys head, tag match and promo after Owen's death, and Droz bring paralyzed.. man
And tho not to the same degree, sable vs debra
"Mountain of little towels, all which are tainted by Kurt Angle...." I died 🤣🤣🤣
... Hell I don't blame Jeff Jarrett for walking out on the company when he did. If I had been made to cut a stupid promo after my one of my best friends had that accident, I would have resented WWE and Vince McMahon too!
Why that’s retarded. What were they suppose to do?
2:06 - A guy incapable of emoting any way except via sarcasm? I think that was a _Kids In The Hall_ sketch. :P
For number 7, not just live on TV. Live on WrestleMania. Like the biggest show of the year. Damn
Enjoy your vacation Adam! We’ll miss your lists and ultimate fantasy booking!
This list made me cry at the end.
A Simpsons, Futurama and Father Ted reference all in one entry. Well played Adam
10 Matches -> First thing is a segment. Good job, lol.
That intro gave me an idea for a video: every WWE match ever ranked.
"The drizzling shits"
I won't tell anybody, Adam.
The way Adam edits these videos 😂😂😂
RIP Darren "Droz" Drozdov
They definitely don’t want you to see all of Chris Benoit matches
Especially that 2004 Royal Rumble which is very hard to ignore because how Historically great it is!
You can watch Chris Benoit matches on WWE Network
John Cena also tapped out at No Way Out 2004 to Kurt Angle again in a triple threat with the Big Show to determine the No.1 contender at Wrestlemania.
Hello everyone! Really sad you didn't win the Jamship on the Saudi Show, you looked like you were disappointed too.
I remember watching Candice Michelle crashing head first into the canvas from the top rope and knocking herself out and breaking her collarbone. I forget who she was wrestling. I think it was Beth Phoenix not sure though. That was a brutal impact, the sound of that hit sent chills up my spine
Reading this I can hear that sound. One of the very few things so brutal that watching it made me physically sick to my stomach.
Can we please get Adam to start doing a podcast? I want to hear about all his opinions on what happens on Smackdown and raw etc etc
Me starting this video : This gonna be fun. Me 11:30 minutes later : shedding a tear.
That ending gave me so much respect for Adam and wrestletalk. How many other channels would put something serious at number one and then go into the pitcb
Looking forward to tomorrow’s list. I think Adam is the only person who will be as sad as me that we never got Keith vs brock
Seeing different clips of wrestlers performing after Owen's fall is just haunting
The one that hit me the most is the undertaker vs stone cold match, the camera was on Undertaker after he took off his coat and you can just see that he's on the verge of tears and you can even see him looking down at a spot on the ring where owen fell on.
Class act, Adam. Thanks for great work again!
About the Cena Tap Outs,
Tapping out is not "giving up"
Giving up relates to a much more long term goal in life.
Well delivered Adam.
im trying to inject some levity back into things, I hope that's ok.
Can we all just appreciate that Shawn Michaels looks like the super secret many years too early 4th member of the shield in this?
I was thinking the same thing!
You're forgetting Angle and Hunter- wait, Triple H and HBK.. The Shield was just an extension of D-X all along..
.....Damn.
You never cease to amuse your followers. Well done!
Honestly, WWE deciding to murder someone in Philadelphia in the building currently known as the Wells Fargo Center (I'm not sure if it was still the CoreStates Center or the First Union Center at the time) is pretty bold, but rather on brand for Philly, especially South Philly
U guys killing it
10:08
I guess Vin-man took Queen's The Show Must Go On a little too literally.
Sometimes, you have to look a scenario like this, and ask yourself, "Does the show have to go on?"
And in that moment, you whisper to them…
"No."
The JBL v Eddie match where Eddie bleeds everywhere would make my list had I done this. Crazy scary match.
Also, lol at father Ted reference at 06:40
hello hope you have a good holiday adam.
