Thank you for highlighting the fact that Tony deserves a lot of the credit for the success of this angle. I remember watching that live as a kid and the thing that always stood out to me was how shocked the announcers were when it was happening. Asking for security and all the little mumbling really painted a beautiful picture this night. And you're absolutely right, he doesn't get enough credit for it.
I'm lowkey blown away by how the whole nWo started. Like, Bischoff studied wrestling in Japan, which is clever, and Hall and Nash just wanted more money so they jumped ship and then they all just went like, "yeah let's do this" and that's the beginning of the biggest storyline in wrestling. It all just kinda came together.
I love how you highlight the "realism" that was presented by WCW! That goes so under the radar and completely unappreciated by how real that invasion angle worked!
I was around 11 years old when all this went down and it blew my mind. I was a huge wwf fan and suddenly seeing their guys on the other channel it was so crazy to me.
Watching this literally takes me back to middle school nights, watching this with my family, and dreading the homework waiting for me after. Great watch.
This channel is something I never new i wanted...I haven't watched wrestling since The Rock went and did The Scorpion King...great nostalgia...well done sir
@@misserica5524 I stopped watching in 2001, mainly bc I got my first job and had to work every Monday. Which sucks bc I missed some of the tail end of the attitude era.
Dude, I totally remember watching this all play out on TV when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I somehow stumbled upon probably the greatest era of pro wrestling, and I watched more nitro at this point then raw. Not to mention, this was all genius at the time..
@@commiehunter733 It was such a neat time. You had WCW loyalists, like myself. Then you had WWF loyalists. But when the NWO showed up, that drew away a lot of WWF fans at the time, and they tended to be the NWO fans.
This was the time period I got in to wrestling (a little after; I literally started the week after Wrestlemania X) and reliving these times is a blessing/joy I never expected. Thank you for everything, and I joined up on Patreon, too. :)
Thank you "Wrestling Bio" once again for your dedication to entertaining the masses during these wild times. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you definitely deserve more subscribers and recognition.

I really love your videos. They are some of my favourite wrestling videos on UA-cam! No BS, no fake out thumbnails. Just pure wrestling history. Thank you for your content!
Like most things NWO went way past their expiry date, to the point it was tiring every time they came on. It was almost like there were no other wrestlers.
@@toracabey93 yeah, because they kept joining the NWO. It got so bloated and it became too much. They couldve set themselves up for multiple storylines had they stopped at SC 97, but they rested on their laurels
Should have been a steel cage match at Starrcade with Sting vs Hogan. This way to keep everyone out. Then have the NWO come down to try and get in and help Hogan but WCWs best come down to help avenge Sting. WCW stop NWO from helping Hogan and Sting goes over clean. Then 98 could have been the split of NWO with Nash challenging Hogans Leadership. This leads to the Wolfpac. Have the War Games match. And Starrcade 98 Hogan vs Nash to put and end to all the NWO mess once and for all
You did an amazing job on the history of the nwo! Don't know how long it took you to put this together, I'm guessing weeks. All them clips and the history to go along with it and the history of their personal lives. I can't say enough about it. But yeah man great job and thank you for sharing that with us. All your videos are good! Thanks again man! Cheers
I’m rewatching all of this on the network and let me say this is a beautiful watch. I’m wholeheartedly thanking you for breaking this down. One of my all time favorite stables, “The Outsiders.” And eventually becoming the NWO. I love it. The best time to be a wrestling fan. Though I was young and did not actually start watching until 1997 with my uncle. The reason why I’m reliving it on the Network.

This is such a fan-dedicated breakdown of the WCW/NWO. Thank you so much for your time and effort for bringing this incredible piece of wrestling history to us! I just relived my childhood/teenage years in a few hours.
I just wanted to say that I really appreciate these compilation type videos. I primarily watch your videos at work and it's nice to be able to freely move to parts I may have missed or want to jump to. Keep up the fantastic work!
@@zemox2534 really? I actually like that they bring in new faces and change up their group stirll ever so slightly every time. Also, CHAOS has been around since 2011, Suzuki-gun I don't actually know but probably as long as bullet club, GBH as a stable is going back to 2006 and, according to cagematch, are still going. Thing is Bullet Club is over as hell in Japan. Same with CHAOS.
Whatever you mentioned is a child's faction or not even a decent faction, if you compare them with nwo then gbh, chaos, lij, BC will not even fill the boot size of diesel....🤣🤣🤣
My brother and I loved this era. Back in the day we had VHS lol, so we would record either wwe or wcw and go back to watch the last 10mts of the show recorded 😂 best time to watch wrestling.
Definitely the biggest and most important turn ever! Without him going heel, the nWo fizzles out in a month, there's no Monday Night Wars, and no Attitude Era!!! That's how I see it at least. Even though he wasn't a part of the WWF during the Attitude Era, without Hulk becoming Hollywood Hogan and the 3rd man in the nWo, WCW doesn't takeover the ratings and force Vince to phase out the old school characters and get more mature and take bigger risks with the storylines so we probably would have been in the old school period much longer and certain superstars may not have gotten over (Stone Cold, Edge & Christian with The Brood, Godfather, Val Venis, etc) at all without the Attitude Era.
@Tiger hardcore don't equal attitude sorry but the nwo was the first shot and pushed wwe to rise up or be destroyed and when the Monday night war's was over wwe went back to PG
If Sting was the third man, it could have been just as good as (if not better than) Hogan's heel turn, if it had been done right tho. For instance, I could see a monster Crow Sting leading the nWo and plowing through WCW top faces like the Brandon Lee's character in the movie "The Crow". Whereas, Hogan could have emerged as WCW's top babyface and hero, while also changing over to the Hollywood gimmick.
every interview about that era is about hogan being a shithead. I just dont see how he gets credit for this thing while also handcuffing it. It's clear that the rest of the guys had just given up and were along for the ride because there was no way of winning with that guy.
Thinking I'm a die hard fan because I've grown up with the WWF and WCW since around 1989'/1990! And then i realise there's still another generation ahead of me watching since the 1970's!
I love the NWO remix theme used at the start of their Wrestling Bios videos. Can you please publish it? I can't get enough of it and I'm sure more would listen.
Wrestling Bios is the apex content source for this stuff. WB you absolute legend thank you for giving us these non denominational gifts all year round.
Love Eddie. One of my favourite things about him was how often and effectively he was able to incorporate genuinely funny things into his matches. One of the best of all time. Thanks for all your hard work on this channel! It's the first page I check on UA-cam each time
The fact that Shawn Michaels was the last guy to ever join Nwo was the greatest thing unfortunately Nwo went no where because of Vince's idea of killing Nwo.
Vince killed NWO to save its image, Hogan already left and Nwo became more of the Kliq than the actual NWO I'm glad Vince killed it because Shawn ruined it
Vince messed up a lot of great opportunities to be fair.. the whole invasion angle could have been the greatest thing ever if he had patience and if he was hell bent to destroy the WCW wrestlers.. people like DDP, Stink and in a way Booker should have been so much more. Imagine if the NWO were there, although I understand that they were getting paid still and did not need to come in straight away, which for me killed the invasion angle big time.
I remember being at a WWE event at MSG when Scott Hall was probably doing his last Razor Ramon character there. At the end of his match, fans were chanting, "You sold out!" Scott picked up a microphone and said, "So?" They knew he was heading for WCW for a better salary. This video provided an example of Vince's attitude towards his wrestling roster that still stands: he believed that the wrestlers were expendable and didn't appreciate them for their giving their all. I don't think he appreciated them from a business perspective.
32:49 i swear to God he's calling him Lax Licker 😅😅😅 Absolutely awesome video I can not even imagine the amount of work that went into this 👍👍👍 Edit: yeah the title think it's Laxlegger. This is incredible lol!
I used to watch wrestling back when i was a kid here in eastern europe, they used to show only Nitro. I was watching it and learning english didnt know what PPV meant back then haha didnt knew why Luger lost his title and all those cutscenes of PPV i always wondered why it didnt get to our TV's. And also at the Wolfpack era the TV totaly dropped WCW nitro i couldnt watch it anywhere as there was no internet nothing back then. I was looking for this kind of video, really amazing job!
Man, I remember watching nitro and really believing Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were sent there by WWE to takeover lol! I loved watching every week! You're doing an amazing job with your videos!
Enjoy your break dude. We have tons of stuff from you to keep us going until then. Your channel is one of my favourites to watch, even just in the background. Thanks for all the stuff you have released that allows me to go back and reminisce about moments. Cheers man! -Rex
Wow, it's interesting to see that NWO 2000 was to be centred around Bret Hart. It's the same as if Hogan was injured immediately and never really showed up in the original incarnation, and if Sting was injured.
NWO in WWE was a wasted opportunity. They could have easily had the few WCW people who were still on screen at the time go after them for what they did to WCW.
I know I was looking forward to the invasion and it just fizzled out I'm not sure why, many other great performers left around this time as well. Also WcW destroyed itself and I think Hogan and his creative control was a big part of the problem
@@isaiahsmith4521 it’s really not though. Look at the timing and the way he got that inflated contract. If it had been 8 months later once Thunder in Paradise bombed his stock would have dropped considerably.
I don't think I can agree with Hall and Nash looking lame by coming out to hip-hop music. Hall and Nash were legitimately fans of hip-hop music and actually came up with most of the NWO's "street" style. Nash has notably said that he started wearing the backwards bandana because he was a fan of Tupac. Keep in mind, those "old guys" coming out to hip-hop music were the same age as members of the NWA (rap group) and despite being significantly older, Randy Savage was even a big fan of hip-hop music and made his own hip-hop album after he left wrestling. Anyone who knows Konan knows how well hip-hop music fits his personality as well. In my opinion there was absolutely nothing unauthentic about the Wolfpac using hip-hop as their theme. That was actually very similar to their real personalities. Except for maybe Luger and Sting, the members of the Wolfpac were legitimately fans of hip-hop music.
Konnan and Randy Savage both loved the Hip Hop Scene.. both made Rap Records.. it is just odd hearing a guy who is a Rap Fan himself say it was corny.. I think he's saying they were doing it because Rap Music was popular and Pro Wrestlers wanted to cash in on it even though some of them don't like it.. Wrestling Bio feels they weren't genuine about having the music as their theme.. but I do feel that Kevin and Konnan really are rap fans..
@@kenrickkahn He said it was corny because it WAS. Just because they were rap fan's doesn't mean anything lol. They were a couple older white dude's in their late 30's trying to look and act gangster...it's fine for them to be rap fan's but playing the part of "cool gangsta" at their age was laughable. You must not remember some of their promos from back then, because they are pretty damn cringe looking back on them now. And this dude comparing the NWA with old suburban white dude's is hilarious. You can be a fan of the music itself without faking something and becoming a culture vulture.
I find it extremely cool that i was able to see all these segments and PPV live when they happened ..... when wrestling was MUST SEE TV otherwise you weren't talking at school on Tuesday .as everyone else was
Damn just watching this makes me appreciate how no holds barred wrestling used to be back then. No social media to spoil story lines and so realistic. Makes me glad to have been a teenager during the Monday night wars.
WCW didn't have anything beyond the nWo. Sting, DDP, and Goldberg would have been the perfect alternative to old-school WCW/NWA fans, but Bischoff was spearheading the inmates who were running the asylum.
ratings rose after the FPOD. they ROOOOSEEEE! do you understand that? It wasn't thr FPOD, it was the handling afterwards. besides a few few small ideas they didn't have any idea/desire to end the NWO properly after this as they shouild have done
Rest in peace, Scott. Thank you for everything, you absolute legend.
I saw Scott hall stand underneath cloud that was great sprit he got wings 2 fly rest spring
Hell yeah 😎 🙌
He had what i miss today in wrestling personality.

The Souled Out venue was my go-to when playing as Crow Sting in WCW vs nWo on Nintendo 64. I STILL have it. System and all.
LOVE THAT GAME 4EVER
I love this. I haven’t seen that arena in game for 20 years and I can remember it vividly
As you very well should ☝️😁👍....
I have multiple old school gaming systems just for the wrestling games. Never gets old and some great memories.
I wish those THQ games could get an HD upgrade for modern systems
"Where is the Nacho Man? The Hukster...? Scheme Gene. & Billionaire Ted?" Lol! Great skits & promo's 👍
That Hogan/Rock promo on Raw is one of the most electrifying promos of all time. Absolute peak energy throughout the arena
It really wasn't about the amount of money. It was the fact that the money was guaranteed.
Then he ruined it
Needing more money is not “jumping ship”
I love how you highlight the "realism" that was presented by WCW! That goes so under the radar and completely unappreciated by how real that invasion angle worked!
I was around 11 years old when all this went down and it blew my mind. I was a huge wwf fan and suddenly seeing their guys on the other channel it was so crazy to me.

@@commiehunter733 It was such a neat time. You had WCW loyalists, like myself. Then you had WWF loyalists. But when the NWO showed up, that drew away a lot of WWF fans at the time, and they tended to be the NWO fans.

One of the all-time great angles for its first 18 months, should have gone out with a bang at Starrcade '97.
'98 should have been a feud between the remnants, Wolfpac vs. Hollywood.
Like most things NWO went way past their expiry date, to the point it was tiring every time they came on. It was almost like there were no other wrestlers.
Starrcade should have caused the split. NWO was still popular and they milked it instead of slowing it down.
One of the biggest heel turns in wrestling, Hogan & the NWO.
@@thejay3804 yeah didn;t the video say hogan wasn't even sure about it? I just want to make sure that hogan gets no credit.
every interview about that era is about hogan being a shithead. I just dont see how he gets credit for this thing while also handcuffing it. It's clear that the rest of the guys had just given up and were along for the ride because there was no way of winning with that guy.

nWo 4 Life!
The fact that Shawn Michaels was the last guy to ever join Nwo was the greatest thing unfortunately Nwo went no where because of Vince's idea of killing Nwo.
Shawn Michaels i hate that guy, Hitman fan here.
@@rumpelstilskindarkone2646 I am fan of both you got any problem with that?
I got a problem with it
Vince killed NWO to save its image, Hogan already left and Nwo became more of the Kliq than the actual NWO I'm glad Vince killed it because Shawn ruined it
Vince messed up a lot of great opportunities to be fair.. the whole invasion angle could have been the greatest thing ever if he had patience and if he was hell bent to destroy the WCW wrestlers.. people like DDP, Stink and in a way Booker should have been so much more.

@@fecalmatter4195 Creative Control and Hogan’s contract in general killed WCW. I suspect he was sent by wwf to kill wcw
Hogan was glued to the title some how 😂
@@Thor-Orion horrible conspiracy theory
@@isaiahsmith4521 it’s really not though. Look at the timing and the way he got that inflated contract. If it had been 8 months later once Thunder in Paradise bombed his stock would have dropped considerably.
Disco Inferno joining the Wolfpac was something I marked for. I liked that mini story he got.
Nah 40-year-old white guys have and will always look super-lame doing this, don’t tolerate this
@@kenrickkahn He said it was corny because it WAS. You can be a fan of the music itself without faking something and becoming a culture vulture.
its embarrassing for the white race

WCW didn't have anything beyond the nWo. Sting, DDP, and Goldberg would have been the perfect alternative to old-school WCW/NWA fans, but Bischoff was spearheading the inmates who were running the asylum.
