He'd be buried in three weeks.
They gave him a clean pinfall victory over Triple-H back in the day... they wanted him to succeed, they knew how talented he was, but he didn't have the charisma, which is maybe a little less important now, but it's still important.
Sheltons problem has always been lack of personality.

The Fiend in the Golden Era. A terrifying, mask clad monster, carrying around a lantern of his old characters head, surrounded by smoke and red lights while his distorted music is booming throughout the arena. Coming from under the ring, scaring children silly and creeping the hell out of the adults.
Scary as hell(no pun intended) but i agree, imagine the fiend going against the undertaker or kane?
I'd love to see The Fiend vs. Mankind when he was still creepy and mysterious.

Bray Wyatt can adapt to the other eras as well by changing up his gimmick for each era.

AJ Lee could be a huge star right now during the current era. Lee vs Banks is my ultimate dream match right now and I’ll pay cash money for it. Maybe even “good money”.
She was the first instance of me cheering for a heel over a face and that was when I was 9 years old
Adam Blampied belongs in the Ruthless Agreession era with his commentary.
If Owen Hart was alive, The Ruthless Aggression Era would definitely revamp his career. Imagine him vs guys like Angle, Guerrero, Edge, Orton & Mysterio.
I'd argue he'd be better in the current era. Full of technicality and the sorts.
Just think about Owen vs Bryan. I'd love to see that.

I wish both harts were in the ruthless aggression era. Imagine on the raw brand we had bret vs Shelton and then on smackdown we got owen vs angle. Bret retired to soon, and owen passed too soon(RIP).

@Zedrik Allen I still dont know how goldberg could mess up a simple kick. Sure, anything can go wrong in wrestling but if goldberg could execute a move like the Jack hammer in wcw without hurting anyone, he should not have botched that kick. He really wasn't a good wrestler at all...
If y'all are gonna do a list like this one than I wanna see the inverse as well. 10 wrestlers who would thrive IN ANY ERA. That'd be good.

Love him or hate him, you give him a character and he nails it on. He can switch between Golden Era power moves, Attitude Era brawling, any style you want. He can do it all, if and when he needs to.
And, of course, he can backstage politick with the best of them, a necessary trait in any era.
I think Brock would have been perfect in any era.
@Zedrik Allen I'm not so sure about Austin. He sparks me as too real for the colorful and over the top 80s. 80s NWA for sure. But I can't even imagine Steve wearing anything other than black tights lol
Rollins i think could have worked in any era.
Honestly. Kane
6'11 320lbs puts him just above the hogan level of size and strength making him a fantastic heel foil for the likes of hogan and savage in the golden era. His height and power wouldve seen him in a similar position to diesel in the new generation era, we know he was great in the attitude era just by being a monster and he adapted his character through the ruthless agression era to have more substance to it which led to multiple world titles and some fantastic matches. And if he was still in his prime right now, you know he'd be at least a midcard heel in the vein of king crapbin if not a main eventer.
Man, imagine Dean Malenko today and Dean Malenko Vs Daniel Bryan.
Agreed. What about Bret Hart v Daniel Bryan?? That would be one of the best matches of all time I think. Same with Owen Hart.
Bryan has said that he really wanted to face malenko once, and technically, it has happened since Bryan often trains with malenko. It's just that no one was there to see it.

I love, love, love the idea of Braun Strowman reaching up to grab 90s Diesel by the hair, tossing him into something horrible backstage, and screaming "I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU" while JR cries out for security to get in there before poor Kevin Nash gets broken in half.
Imagine WWE Champion Strowman in 1995. The Monday Night Wars could have been very different.

No. Kevin Owens is one of the worst looking champions in WWE history, even by current standards. He would've never made it past jobbing on Velocity in the Ruthless Aggresion era.

I don't think Punk would've worked in the attitude era. He has a Bret Hart way of looking at things. No way would he want to play second fiddle to Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, and all the other crazy amount of talent WWE had back then. He honestly believed he was the best in the world and probably still does. Even after seeing he's not quite as tough as he thought he was in UFC. Respect for him getting in there and trying it out. I just don't see him working anywhere that doesn't have him on top at all times. Also, Bret is one of the goats and I really enjoyed Punk matches. I'm just talking ego.

Dan Severn in the Ruthless Aggression Era. He was a fish out of water in the Attitude Era, and in the technician obsessed Ruthless Aggression Era, he would have fit in PERFECTLY. Multiple time world champion, for sure.

Brian Cage is EXACTLY what WWE was looking for during the Ruthless Aggression era: looks like a super hero while also fitting the ring style that the business was on the precipice of shifting to at that time. He would have pleased both Vince and the work-rate oriented fans of the mid 2000’s and been a major player in defining what a top guy is in he years to follow.
As much as this video is fun and games, it’s such a good compact history lesson. Good stuff from Adam!

Just looked up AJ Lee and I'm sad she's gone again/still. About 4 and a half years from NXT (reality show) to retirement, after about another year and a half FCW and 2 years pre-WWE. 8 year career, and only Divas Championship title wins. Damn shame.
Daniel Bryan could've fit in with the original stampede wrestling promotion. He's still amazing today tho

I've stopped watching wrestling (although I will probably watch Mania just for the heck of it), to the point that I didn't even watch the Royal Rumble this year for the first time since the mid-90's. A large part of it is actually to do with WrestleTalk, as I could no longer put up with the fawning over AEW, so I stopped watching the daily news and consequently just fell out of wrestling. But I'll tell you now, I will never, ever tire of the wonderful simplicity of Adam Blampied doing a list. The GOAT just doing his thing. Top man.
And if CM Punk was in another era, he would’ve probably gotten at least 1 Mania main event

This one maybe be confusing (maybe it’s mentioned in this video I haven’t watched it yet) but Owen Hart. Yes he perfectly fit that New Generation Era as one of its few bright spots but other then that he never got to fully be a major star. The Attitude Era felt like it had passed Owen’s work rate with a more street fight style with a bigger focus on characters.
I think Owen Hart on Smackdown in 2002 (obviously if he was still here RIP) would have been a perfect WWE Champion. Matches with Leasner, Edge, Angle, Rock, Benoit, Mysterio and Guerrero would have all been masterful to see.
Another wrestler in that would have been a mega star in another era is Cody Rhodes. Yes he has done so many great things like create AEW but imagine if he was where is now in the NWA. He would have been huge especially if he was a heel against Sting.
The 80's ladies tag team the jumping bomb angels today era. They was a amazing. A head of their time.

Waylon Mercy has to be an honorable mention for the current era. And Evil Doink would have been amazing in any other era, in my opinion.
Waylon would've been like Bray Wyatt in the current era, but Waylon would've thrived in the Attitude Era, with short matches and focusing on character and promos, lives were definitely gonna be in his hands there

I love this!!! Also third!! I would like to say that it would have been better if Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit had wrestled in the current era rather than when they did as this is the era of technical geniuses that aren't as beefy and when they have protocols in place to protect the wrestlers today from the heart disease and the concussion protocol. And sure, they and how they died were the reason these protocols were added, I just wish this is when they wrestled because then their size might not have made such a difference and they wouldn't have taken steroids or did moves like the diving headbutt to get pushes from creative.

These are all so true and so sad in a way. Also, the thought of Dean Malenko vs Daniel Bryan or Cesaro is insane, I would love to see those matches. And AJ Lee vs basically any of the current stars but especially Sasha, god that would be just too damn good!
Punk would have problems even in the AE because it wasn't the problem at all he was perfect in the era he was in its just that when the company you work for and its two major high ranking people dislike you like Triple H and Shawn you can't do anything about it regardless of the era....its the reason why i will never like those 2 because of all the ego and politics they did to make others lifes miserable

tbf if begin to work in WWE in 95-96 (just 1-2 year before AE) and became successful, HHH couldn't do anything because he was punished after Madison Square Garden accident
Bret Hart at his peak would be at the absolute top if he wrestled today. I know he was around the top when he did but he got messed around a lot.
The top 2 champions in WWE are Roman and Lashley. You think a trim guy who does really good fundamentals would be at the absolute top today?

@@BrunoDiaz93 I think he would. Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston have been at the top in the past couple of years so I think Bret wouldn’t have a problem there.
@@mrkipling2201 Bryan and Kingston held the WWE title for 324 days between those two reigns. In that time there were 12 PPVs, 2 of which were main evented by Bryan. One was a non title match at Survivor Series, one was the eponymous match at Elimination Chamber where there wasnt a Universal Title match.
They did hold the top belt, but sadly, they weren't the top guys at all.

"Vince McMahon's Merry-Go-Round of Ground and Pound" is up there with "Dr Vinnie's Hustle and Tussle Kerfuffle" and "Vinnie Mac's Attack Shack"
I like the video, but to play Devil's advocate: The reason why some of these wrestlers that they mention are either known about or remembered fondly today is because, even though they felt out of place in their eras, that is what made them stand out more.
I like this. But what about wrestlers who would thrive in any era?
Imagining Great Khali in the Golden Era is honestly making me less upset about him going into the hall of fame
@partsFUNknown, I want to add something about Aja Kong, and that is, like another independent/WWE talent that was wasted, as well as had also became a tag team partner years later, in Kharma, a.k.a. Amazing Kong, and like you had also mentioned about tag teams, having two big women in the WWF would not be something that is needed now, but, rather, they would have been far more the game changers in the Golden Era, as not only were there a plethora of male tag teams at that time, but what a lot of people did not know was that the female tag teams were also pretty stacked in that era as well. Now imagine those two women running amok during that time and then having a match against Bam Bam Bigelow and Big Van Vader...people would go absolutely NUTS at those four behemoths going to war against each other!
This got me thinking about how great the Wyatt family could’ve been you guys should do a list on the stables that had the most potential that WWE ruined
