Anne Corey, age is only a number!!! I've been in London just over 50 yrs, miss all the Singapore/Malaysian/Nonya foods shown on UA-cam but Amsterdam is not far for Indonesian curries. Also lots of 'seniors' age 85+ travel to Spain/especially Mallorca, most beautiful island. Lots of delightful Spanish foods, eg tapas!!!

Tried the Alhambra stall upstairs today; beef, chicken, mutton and tripe were on offer so I grabbed 3 of each. The mutton and chicken were OK but the beef was really dry. The tripe on the other hand was superb! Slightly chewy but so flavoursome. I didn't have the appetite after that to try the food corner one as I had to go across to Haig Rd for some putu piring, but I'll try and squeeze it in before I go home next week.

Sometimes they take from the stall downstairs. That’s when the quality drops a lot!

@@GregoryLeow Yes, re-watching the vlog before I commented reminded me of that. Pity I didn't watch it again before I went out there. Never mind, plenty of other hawker centres to visit before I go home. I'm just off to People's Park to see if the loh mei stall is open.

I'm never impressed with our satays here in Singapore. I reckon most hawkers use frozen meat to make their satays. Most come across as dry, lack complexity in spice flavours and smokiness. Also the meat clinging to that humble stick is soooo measly. The best satay I've eaten was in a humble stall in Port Dickson Malaysia years ago. It was well seasoned with the perfect blend of aromatic spice marinade that was both sweet and savoury with a tantalising whiff of lemon grass. Beautifully charcoal-grilled with fats oozing out from the succulent meat. The peanut sauce is to die for. It's slightly tangy without the use of pineapples and has the right consistency with generous mix of freshly ground peanuts. Yes, I also taste the magic of lemon grass in it. Fabulous satay indeed and that's the best I'll ever eat and never again. That humble stall was not to be found again.

Completely agree. Nothing Beats Indonesian satay in my opinion but the one stall I highlighted here bears merit in my opinion!
