    Skeeters, ugh. I once did a hike through the Indian Heaven Lakes segment of the PCT and the little SOBs ate me alive. I was covered in welts before I got away from the lakes. Learned my lesson that day, the DEET goes with me always.

      That’s a great spot! And we feel like the mosquitos get worse every year. Helen breaks out in welts and it’s awful. Those dang things

    Awesome overnight trip! I always enjoy the videos and look forward to the Alaska trip.
    A troublesome plantar fascia in my left foot has somewhat limited my adventures this summer, but I found Dr Tim’s channel and have been using his tips to heal and get back on the trail. Thanks Tim!

      It was a great trip! We were going to do a 2nd hike the next day but ended up wanting to sleep in our own bed instead 🤣 thanks you watching!
      We are in route to Alaska now actually! We are sorry to hear about your foot. Hope you’re able to get back out there soon. Glad you found Tim’s PT channel. If you ever have any specific questions, Tim has a Facebook group you can join to ask questions 👍🏽 Search “PT Time with Tim Community”

    First hike there was in '79.
    Fun Range to spend time in.
    While not as high, it's the steepest range in the USA.
    A bit more remote and not as over run.

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  2 роки тому

      Wow! It must have been really remote during that time. We only saw 3 people when we were up there around 9am. It definitely seemed much busier after 12pm. The last 1,000 feet were super steep! Worth it for the views. Did you run into a lot of snow back in the days?

      Deep snow but in those days we could still build camp fires.
      And didn't see another soul.
      Happy trails!

    I will never hike without a bug net!! Glad your chicken meal didn’t get taste like 🤢 the mango sticky rice is a disappointment-I was really excited about it when you first showed it!

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  2 роки тому

      We definitely hate the bug nuts. They help at camp a lot. Freeze dried meals are always a hit or miss. We really wanted to the mango stick rice to be yummy but it didn’t deliver. Guess we will have to go to Thailand for the real thing. We plan to go there next year!

    Dinner and a show step aside! The next big thing is potties with a view! Those bugs were crazy. Usually bugs don't even show up on camera that well, so it must have been insane!
    P.S. I would totally dig a series about Tim learning how to become MacGyver. 😅
    Look forward to seeing Alaska!

      Hahaha! We always laugh our loud at your comments. Those hugs were nuts! We came prepared and we only managed to get a few bits. The real kicker were the chigger bites Helen got on the way out and she’s finally healing from them after 3 weeks 😅
      Tim needs to work on his MacGyver skills, but that comes with time. Maybe a mini series will be in the works!
      Excited to share Alaska! ✈️

    Hikers born after the year 2000- "What's MacGyver it?"

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  2 роки тому

      Does that give away our age?! 🤣
      Show from the 80s, “A man who worked for the gov on high risk mission and was able to make or repair (an object) in an improvise or inventive way, making use of whatever items are at hand.” Tim knows it better than I do, he was born in early 80s and I was at the tail end 😆
