About Brand Battle:
Brand Battles sees me take two products that say they do very similar things and battle them out to see which one is the best. To do this, I review several factors: ingredients; packaging; smell; consistency; ease of application; styling; finish; washability; and price. What's your favourite hair product? first hand supply clay pomade vs american garden clay pomade- this will be a good one :D
Great suggestion!
I second this. Love both Firsthand and Shear Revival
Idea for a Brand Battle: 1. Templeton Tonics Oasis vs. Blumaan Cavelier Clay of any other Clay on the market. 2. Odouds Dry Wax. Vs. Shear Revival Northern Lights or Arcadian Matte Paste
Another fab Brand Battle, Robin! I've been growing out my fine hair over the past 2 months (think Jake Gyllenhall's medium length style) and I've been wanting a styling product that gives great lift and movement without weighing my fine hair down. I've only tried the Fudge Hair Powder so far and I wasn't impressed at all. Like you say, lots of tugging and not a lot else. But I'm now definitely going to pick up a bottle of the Shear Revival. It sounds like just the thing I'm looking for.
Thanks again for your insight peppered with some cheeky humour. Keep up the great work!
This is great to hear, Gregory. Your hair sounds glorious!
@@ManForHimself I learnt from the best in the biz 😉
I tried the American Crew boost powder and loved the way it added all this texture to my hair. HATED how much of a pain it was to wash out and how much it dried out my already really dry hair though. The Shear Revival product here seems like a great alternative.
The Shear Revival packaging really does look like you would find it in a pharmacy/drugstore/chemist.
That was another epic battle Robin, Thank you! I’ve been hesitant to try a powder as I was worried they would dry out my hair too much. However after watching your review I have ordered the Shear Revival one from ‘Slick Boys UK’ and can’t wait to try it with their Grey Ghost pomade!
Have you tried that combo yet? That's what I was thinking of doing?
@@brianmp7846 only for a week or so as I found the powder seemed to make my scalp itchy, my hair was also starting to get ‘dry’ and a bit ‘frizzy’. I stopped using it and gave it away to a friend however currently I’m using O’Doud’s Styling Treatment which I find is very similar to Grey Ghost and has more of a slight ‘tackiness’ so you can make your hair look a bit textured if that makes sense. The best product I’ve used for hold and texture is American Gardens Clay Pomade, however I found it to be a little tricky to wash out and was too ‘Matte’ for my liking. I tend to waffle on at times but I hope this helps! Lolz
@@patrickquinlan85 Thanks for the detailed reply! I have northern lights and gray ghost coming, I'm new to the hair world so I definitely need to try a few things and see what works best for me
@@brianmp7846 Northern Lights is really great from what I remember as I only used one jar until I tried Grey Ghost. One thing for certain is that Shear Revival make top notch products that always seem to make your hair feel great afterwards. Robins channel and website is the best out there in my opinion so he is definitely some one to check out for advice etc! After trying out quite a few products myself I kind of know what I like and don't like now, Something soft/easy to apply, not shiny or too matte with a non hard finish, easy to wash out (0'Doud's Styling Treatment).
Saying that every other month I like to buy something else to try out and alternate, right now I use Ruffian's Hair Cream once a week forever so.
Have you any idea of what you like or don't like yet so to speak?
@@patrickquinlan85 I haven't tried anything yet so I don't have a clue what I will like, my shear revival was delivered today and I have Templeton paste and clay on the way. I'm basically going for a short (2 inch) texture/ messy look
Thanx for Brand Battle, friend! Maybe next do Truefitt & Hill Euchrisma Clay vs LOCK STOCK & BARREL 85 Karats?
Need to try!
fantastic video as usual!
Thanks, Hassan.
Which one would you recommend for a curtains/middle part hairstyle? Ideally I’d I want something with a decent amount of hold but don’t want to lose the natural flow of the hairstyle. Thanks.
Finally this video 😍
Hope you enjoyed it!
Suggestion for brand battle: Blumaan Styling Foam against some other same kind. Like Dauntless Styling Foam or Byvilain Sea salt Foam ✌️
(but prestyler battle anyway would be very neat, and something non-seasalt-spray like)
How do these powders compare to Kevin Murphy’s Powder Puff (from the Holy Grail list)?
I'm curious about this too. I am currently using Powder Puff, but looking for something with a bit more hold (I don't use clay/wax unless it's an evening/night out), so wondering if Sheer revival will do better.
Powder Puff is still my favourite. I like how fine the powder is and it gives the perfect (IMHO) amount of tack and grit.
Been watching for a while now on my hair journey, I’ve been trying to go for the long joe keery stranger things look. I have thick straight hair, any products you can recommend for the look? Love your videos, thank you for helping me keep my hair healthy!
Hey! I have Joe Keery on my website. Does this help? manforhimself.com/mens-hairstyles/joe-keery-short-haircut-with-messy-texture/
There are now many hair powders on the market. 2 to 20g between 5 and 35 euros. I just noticed that there should be 96g in here? What is the difference between Shear and hair powder from Gorilla z. B? I'm totally confused right now.
I hope i get an answer...
Was just considering buying shear revival last week but couldn’t find a video. How would it work for longer, thick hair?
Yes, it would be good. Would allow natural-looking texture without being too heavy.
Thanks for covering products that are organic and not purely based on silica silylate
Do you recommend using hairspray with these? Does it lock too much movement / reshapebility?
Great question. I probably wouldn't use hairspray with this. Not enough structure without it, so it's likely to be stiff and drop with the hairspray.
So are you considering the revival powder a holy grail product? Is it better then the other texture powders on your site. Thanks love ur videos
Hey Matt, for now, no. But it could make it with more use.
If i live in canada where kevin murphy is 60$ am i better off buying this one?
Can I use this after applying let say a Clay Pomade to add bulge texture?
Are you taking suggestions on brand battle ? Or is it pre set season?
For sure! Go for it.
Texture powder and volume powder differences!!!
arcadian matte paste vs shear revival northern lights
Great suggestions!
Have u tried oribe products?
I've tried a few of them. Do you have a favourite? Or one to suggest?
@Robin James I actually adore their products! I'm in love with their dry texturizing spray! And i combine their creme and gel to give my hair a soft hold. I suggest u try oribe dry texturizing spray.
@@peterzeph Thank you!
I think you look as if you just lost some weight jaw line coming out strong and sharp. Correct me if I'm wrong 👍
Honestly you should just go back to the 1 point system by the way you’ve been giving points out the last 2 videos
In what way, Salvador?
Others seem to be enjoying this.
@@ManForHimself might be just because the 4 products you’ve shown were all quality but each time you’ve you’ve equal points to each or a difference of 1 to the winner
