And the fact that this baby out of the box is almoust ready to fly is awesome. For me the chioce of size is perfect. Hope to see one scream over our runway in the future. Big salute to all at HorizonHobby and all RC pilots here from Pilot Robert Slovenia.
Freewing's F14 is a magnificent beast, but I am so glad that horizon has made one that I might actually be able to afford/have a place to fly. 40mm opens up a whole range of practically sized EDFs.
As I come from Sweden.. I´m offcourse in for Saab Draken and Viggen as the most iconic jetfighters for me. But the F14 is on par with these. I´ve preordered it too. The F14 has something to it that no other plane have. So.. hats off from Sweden to US and Eflite for bringing out this iconic plane :)

Just maidened mine. What a blast. Hand launching is easy and the size allows me to fly it at almost any park. The wing sweep feature is pure fun. Even though it lacks rudder, I can still do fun slow speed maneuvers with the big elevons. Get it slow, pitch up hard and go full left elevon, the Tomcat will do a cool spin to the right and recover pretty easily. I’m gonna have so much fun exploring the flight envelope of this bird.
A dream jet of mine, I have commented many times that it should be added to the fleet. And for you guys to add it on my birthday just made it the best day ever. Keep it up Horizon Hobby!!!

Sweet plane! But why release a plane that's not available until may?? I get why you do pre orders but 6 months is just crazy. Don't get me wrong I love HH but that's just crazy! P.S. how about a new f-27 pretty please.

There haven't been any shipments to stores yet...as Jason noted in post #2 of the official thread on RCGroups ( www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4024239-The-ALL-NEW-E-flite-F-14-Tomcat-Twin-40mm-EDF-The-Practical-TOPGUN-Tomcat%21 ): "Pre-orders are being accepted now...but these will not be in stock and shipping until May of 2022. The reason we’re announcing it so early is because it’s in RealFlight 9.5S that was also announced today ( see the video for that here: ua-cam.com/video/jYR1rxIO8H4/v-deo.html ). Which means if you have RF9 or RF9.5 and take advantage of the FREE update to get RF9.5S, or buy RF9.5S (which releases on 12/8/21), you'll be able to fly the F-14 on RealFlight before you can buy it! And FWIW, the Top Gun 2 movie is currently scheduled for release on May 27th, 2022"
Hey Ali, when you did that hand launch, were you holding the F-14 by only one engine pod? My hands just aren't big enough to grab it by both and give it a toss.
As Jason noted in post #2 of the official thread on RCGroups ( www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4024239-The-ALL-NEW-E-flite-F-14-Tomcat-Twin-40mm-EDF-The-Practical-TOPGUN-Tomcat%21 ): "Spektrum 4S 2200mAh 30C G1 and G2 Smart batteries work great and deliver flight times upwards of 4-6 minutes depending on throttle management/flying style. Longer 2200mAh batteries also fit, so batteries like the Smart 50C and 100C packs can be used to deliver a bit more performance (and run cooler)…but are NOT required to get great performance overall! Some other brands of larger/heavier 2200s might not fit and work, but we don’t recommend those of course"
Why is it $300? It looks smaller than the f-15 which is only $220, so why is it $80 more? Is the wing sweep really that expensive. It it was $250 I would probably get it
As Jason noted in post #2 of the official thread on RCGroups ( www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4024239-The-ALL-NEW-E-flite-F-14-Tomcat-Twin-40mm-EDF-The-Practical-TOPGUN-Tomcat%21 ): "Price...oftentimes a sensitive subject! Labor, component and especially shipping costs have gone up many times over the last few years -- and especially the last 6 months -- so unfortunately the price is higher now than we originally targeted when we started the project almost three years ago. The F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF is only available in a BNF Basic version (because the control unit includes a Spektrum receiver along with the two ESCs) and the price as of today is $299.99."
If you land it PROPERLY on grass without the gear installed (as seen just after the 2:12 mark in this video) it won't get trashed...or you can use the included landing gear to fly it from smooth surfaces. Nothing unfortunate about any of that :)
@@HorizonHobbyProducts says the company selling a product.. Not everyone has a perfect place to land with grass.. beautiful jet though.. I live off grid and fly in the mountains and belly land on dirt roads that's why I like the f15 it's cheap enough to beat up slope fly the mountains through the trees and land on dirt or snow... Love your products but the prices keep going up making it harder for regular people to buy stuff..
Love eflite, they made the hobby readily available for us who dont make 100s of thousands a year, but I must say, looks like a great bird, but why cut it short with fixed landing gear, if it has 3 position wing variations and full stabs why not incorporate retracts to completely just wow the market, I see potential for slightly larger airframe with twin 64mm or 80 mm edfs, retracts, 3 position wing variations full vertical and horizontal stabilizers and lights, this is the F-14 after all it's an aircraft we all owe thanks to, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, skunkworks,Lockheed Martin, general dynamics, Fairchild Republic and many others are all part of a legacy. These companies have compiled blueprints to build aircraft that write history, and in the F-14s case many of the world's dominant aircraft have features thanks to this aircraft so let's do this right let eflite make a 2.1m version with all the goodies, they made a pos sukhoi su-30 now let's honor the aircraft that set the bar and has kept America as a superpower who helps other nations and believes in freedom, I think eflite can definitely deliver, let's see if they will
The price would be $200 or so higher meaning less people would be able to afford and own a larger version! Not to mention it could only be flown from paved/smooth surfaces versus this smaller, more affordable and more practical model that can be flown from paved/smooth surfaces with the gear installed or hand launched/belly landed when flying over grass.

Does this have ailerons or just use the tail to roll and pitch? Also do the rudders work or no?
No ailerons (the full scale didn’t even have ailerons) This is set up to use “elevons” There are no rudders.
Nice plane but what is the flight time WOT?
As Jason noted in post #2 of the official thread on RCGroups ( www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4024239-The-ALL-NEW-E-flite-F-14-Tomcat-Twin-40mm-EDF-The-Practical-TOPGUN-Tomcat%21 ):
"Spektrum 4S 2200mAh 30C G1 and G2 Smart batteries work great and deliver flight times upwards of 4-6 minutes depending on throttle management/flying style.
That was cool!! If i knew how to fly these i would buy it. I guess i’m sticking to surface vehicles. Lol
CAN WE GET A TWIN 90?
How quick is this plane
Approximately 80-85 MPH in level flight, and up to 100+ MPH in a dive!
Mini F22 in the future?!
How can i buy one's of it ?
When are you gonna make twin 64mm Cessna citation longitude et, if you do I will be one of your early customers
Whats the topspeed
Why is it $300? It looks smaller than the f-15 which is only $220, so why is it $80 more? Is the wing sweep really that expensive. It it was $250 I would probably get it
In addition to the wing sweep you have to keep in mind this plane has two 40mm EDFs vs the F-15's single 64mm EDF.
As Jason noted in post #2 of the official thread on RCGroups ( www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4024239-The-ALL-NEW-E-flite-F-14-Tomcat-Twin-40mm-EDF-The-Practical-TOPGUN-Tomcat%21 ):
"Price...oftentimes a sensitive subject!
Take my money !
Very Nice 👌
Ok now where is the 80 mm version?
I know right? That’s exactly what I was thinking.
Did you see the price on this one? I'm scared to think how much they'd want for a 80mm version lol although I'd honestly love to see and hear it.
@@murdamechanik Good point!
@@tazgws Inflation and all new Eflite models these days come with Smart stock; so it’s not surprising.
@@murdamechanik You do bring up a good point. 👍
I love UMX jets. Can’t wait to see more 😁
At 510 grams w/o battery and 30" span I don't think I would class this as a UMX jet.
CAN'T WAIT UNTIL KENNY'S LIVE STREAM TONIGHT (TOMORROW MORNING🇬🇧2AM). LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING EVERYONES OPINIONS 🇬🇧💂🇺🇸🗽🕊️✌️👍
Love it! Can i come watch you fly sometime at eli field? 🤣
Wish it was a little bigger-😦
I wonder if any fighter pilots play with their r/c counterparts ? 👽 Thanks for your video .
Unfortunately 300 for a belly lander is kinda crazy with how quick they get thrashed...
Nice toy
I need to add this one also...wow... love it see my videos...
Ahaaaa, maybe after very loooooong time I will buy something from e-flite!
Count me in..
That would look amazing in Iranian Air Force livery!
nice but no rudder or ailerons :(
I mean the full scale didn’t have ailerons either
@@coopereaton5263 that i didnt nknow.. but it did have "wiing spoilers" so i just found out :D
No rudder or ailerons ? Than how does it turn or bank ? Thrust vectoring?
@@prowlus elevons, just like a flying wing does
It has full-flying stabs that function as tailerons just like the full-scale did :)
@@HorizonHobbyProducts can i buy it even if i am from EU?
I'll wait for the 6s or 12s variant....
