I've been vegan for 13 years and feel your pain. It is heartwarming to know that Scarlett had the opportunity to know love in her short life. Thank you for sharing her story and for being such a wonderful and compassionate human. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
When you said “she’s a chicken”, my heart didn’t change. That’s a family member. You did a wonderful and beautiful ceremony for her and she should be loved even as, some would say, a chicken. Full stop.
Exactly. A family member is a family member, whether they're human or they have fur or fins or feathers. I'm sorry that Jackson and his family have to go through the loss they're feeling. It pains me to think that there are people who are deliberately being cruel, because of who or what Scarlett was. I hope that the world gets better some day, for all of us.
I don't talk very often, but I have to say I am so sorry for your loss. I loved her pantaloons. She looked like a southern girl. All of our pets (children) are family and are deeply loved. We mourn deeply and can totally relate. We love you, Jackson (and Mina). Gentle hugs.❤🙏🐔
You obviously haven't lost a family member. I love animals, and have cried couless times when they died. But it is NOTHING like losing a family member, not even close! I lost my only sister about 4 years ago and my heart was literally aching every single day for about year or so. I'd wail so much that I could not breath, had to force myself to take a breath. And I'm still heartbroken. You can always get a new pet, but you can never get your family member back!
@@nightskylights4501 Actually I have lost both pets and my cousin, and one of my closest friends. My heart feels the same way, especially when I think about them. I know how you feel, so please don’t judge.
Scarlett was a living being with whom you had a bond. Her loss is significant in your life. I got the same reactions when my hamsters died. It didn't matter to me if they were hamsters or huge dogs. I loved them and they mattered.
My heart dropped when you said Scarlett was a chicken. I’m sorry for your loss. Chickens are very loving, intelligent, sentient beings. Thank you for sharing and take good care of yourself ❤
Same here, because, as Jackson points out, people are going to belittle her life, even though she was as important as any other animal companion. She was FAMILY! People really need to understand that! I'm so very sorry for your loss, Jackson and family. Sending lots of love. People, if you can at least go vegetarian, responsibility.
She was a cute and beautiful chicken❤ she was a part of your family and she will be missed. 😢 doesn't matters what they are for animal. She was a kind soul ❤
I always thought my mom was cold for not wanting pets but later found out that she felt their lives were too short and losing them was too painful. The end is never easy and I think none of us animals have long enough, but it's our journey together that makes our lives richer.
So So sorry for your loss !! I adopted a black indoor cat ..for 22 years she was my constant companion and best friend. I had insurance on her for all that time, but she was never ill and died of old age .. my heart was broken and still is even after 2 years ..I love you so much Pixie !!
I had a pet chicken when I was a child. She was the runt, and so tiny. My grandpa said she probably wouldn’t survive, but she absolutely did! She ran with the other chickens for 2 years. She laid the tiniest egg right before she died! She was beautiful and amazing. I empathize with what you’re going through right now. I’m crying with you, as I understand the unbelievable pain of suddenly losing a loved one. Sending healing energy to you and yours! 🪶🖖
That’s adorable about the tiny egg and her drive to run with the other chickens. My sister and I adopted a runty hamster when we were kids. I was working at a pet store and one of the hamsters had babies. My manager said she didn’t think she could sell him and didn’t know what to do with him, so we offered to take him. When we got him, he was the size of a cotton ball and had a stump in place of one paw. We named him “Jackie Tan” because he was fearless. If you put him down, he could just start stumping off as fast as he could, which was pretty fast! We had to watch him closely. He was smaller than normal, but he lived a normal lifespan and was spunky till the end. 💜
I'm so sorry, Scarlett is such a gorgeous baby! I remember I lost almost an entire litter of gerbils from a genetic illness, and when I explained to my managers the following day why I was so distraught, I was hit with "oh...well that's not so bad. I thought it was a cat or dog" as if their lives weren't important too
God, that’s so awful. I love hamsters and gerbils and Guinea pigs and mice and rats all that jazz, they’re so cute n fat. Any kind of loss is hard, no matter the species. I wish you well, fellow UA-cam watcher
I was considering adopting a parrot a few years ago but when I talked to the rescue they said it was near impossible to find vet care for a bird in my area. That’s what ultimately kept me from doing it. I’ve found local vets that specialize in rabbits and reptiles and livestock but not birds.
Unfortunately all too true. An exotic animal clinic has the only vet in my area that treats birds… feels a little funny taking my Houdan & White crested polish hens to an exotic vet 😅
@wispycrys1 I think that's especially true if you live in a big city, I know it sounds weird but because parrots are so noisy and need such large cages/aviaries many city folk won't buy them and when it comes to chickens/turkeys a lot of large cities have banned them because they're "farm animals". It just became legal to have chickens in my city 2 years ago due to families suffering food insecurity; anyone who thinks having chickens will be a cheap way to help with food insecurity has never price checked on limestone/calcium pellets or avian vets.
@savvychipmunk2228 most humans don't take the time or make the effort to learn. I have a cockatiel client (I'm a Pet Nanny) and even though the client has me coming in for the dogs, I make sure to give Jack (the bird) a lot of attention as well - because birds NEED that interaction. When he feels like he wants my attention, he'll say, "Pretty Bird" to let me know he's feeling left out of the fun, so I always make a point of acknowledging him and talking to him.
I feel for you, Every precious creature I have ever had in my 76 years has ripped my heart when they passed....cats, dogs, rabbits , hamsters and recently my bearded dragon.... named Norbert. EVERY one of those deaths hurts like hell..... the SPECIES does NOT matter !!!!!
I'm so sorry, Jackson! 😭😭😭😭😭 oh my goodness! She was gorgeous. It doesn't matter what vessel she was in. She was a being that lived in your loving home. Cats are people too... and so are chickens... as are all other animals.
The fact that you adopt pets no matter what species or disabilities they have to care and love them proves that you are a amazing human being. God bless.
I just had something similar happen with my cat about 2 months ago. He had been healthy and jumped up on the bed to come to me for head scritches (which he loved) and he literally just dropped and died on my side of the bed. The unexpected is so much harder cause you’re not mentally prepared and it’s just such a wide range of emotions. I couldn’t sleep on my side of the bed for weeks. But that is love. They left this world knowing they were loved and that is the most beautiful thought. I’m so sorry about Scarlett 💔 I hope your family finds peace and are able to heal in your own due time
Scarlett’s death was a family tragedy because she was seen for who she was not her species. So beautiful how other species can bring such love to our lives. I also have seen the unique personalities that other species have. Remember the joy she brought when you are sad and miss her❤😢
Doesn't matter what species they are. They're your kids . Hairy, feathered, etc. I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending you and your wife lots of love and hugs!
I lost my sweet chicken Elsie two months ago and I’ve been devastated. I love my other chickens but she was just such a personality and I adored her (and named her after my beloved great grandmother). I miss her every day and I’m heartbroken. I totally get it. 💔 Her sister, Henny, mourned her so deeply that she refused to leave the coop for a month and didn’t lay that whole time either. It was a huge relief that her passing happened not long after I got a couple young chickens and I honestly think they saved Henny from just dying of heartbreak. I love chickens so much. They are really delightful pets.
All species deserve love, respect, and kindness. My sympathies to you and your family as you grieve the loss of Scarlett, a beloved member of your family.
When I was a small child I lived with my grandparents and we had chickens ,geese, ducks a deer and a baby goat. When the goat passed away I was so distraught I got a fever and was nearly hospitalized. I currently have 11 rescue cats and alot if plants that I also consider my babies. I love them so much. When we lose one we mourn. So I completely get it. Someday you'll see her again. ❤
Dear Jackson, thank you for sharing Scarlett with us, Im sure everyone would agree with me that her plucky spirit shone through the screen at us and we could feel a tiny bit of what she was like. I am so, so sorry for your loss. I also want to say thank you, you reminded me that I had a chicken once, long ago. we had to raise chickens at school from hachlings and then, once they were grown up we could either take them home or leave them at the school. My parents said i was absolutely not bringing my chicken home to live with us, but that wasnt an option in my mind so i smuggled her home in my schoolbag and then kept her in a cardboard box beside my bed! She slept there overnight with me. After a few days my parents discovered her and to my astonishment weren't actually mad; i think they couldnt be mad as they found it endearing. But then my chicken escaped into the backyard and one of our dogs chased her until she suddenly died mid run. Now my parents and I were all mourning her death. I was devastated and cried and cried. But it has been a great many years now and I had forgotten about her. I still have the little band from around her foot in a box of my special things and ive never been able to throw it out. When i think back to what she meant to me, I think she was a friend to me in an unsafe world, in highschool. She was a kind and loving friend - the purest kind- when i didnt really have anyone else. Her name was Josie. This beautiful video of Scarlett reminded me.. thank you Jackson. They are not "just chickens" x x x rest in paradise Chicken Boss
I wish more people would be sympathetic to pet loss. It can be different to a human loss because our relationships with pets are so different. My cats sleep in my bed every night, they wait for me to get home, they sit in my lap and love on me when I’m feeling down or lost. It’s not that a human can’t or doesn’t do that, but with pets it’s almost always unconditional.
@@imamajesticseahorse2548 i think people need to start treating all animals with the same respect as humans. if you wouldn't do something to a human, don't do it to an animal especially. but people prefer tast pleasure over life unfortunatly
Same with our rabbit. We had him for 8 years, he was the first animal we adopted as a couple, he meant a lot to us. Just because he wasn't a cat or a dog doesn't change the grief.
I'm very sorry for your loss. It gets more bearable over time, but the grief never ends. I have (2) 14 year old pet Mallard ducks that I raised and have cared for since they hatched back in 2010. They are showing their age and I have a feeling that their time is drawing near and I don't know how I'll be able to live without them.
We spent some time at our cabin giving mallards and their babes corn feed, at one point they didn't visit daily anymore we thought perhaps a mink or watersnake was around. BUT for two years straight ONCE in the summer a pair of them walked up the hill to our cabin and hung out for half and hour and got some corn too. Amazing to visit us, not at the river. Emotional creatures.
@@savvychipmunk2228 Yeah, they're emotional! Mine are indoor ducks and they get R.O. water, daily baths, excellent food, and lots of love. I had pet chickens back in the late 1970's ( as a child ) until they passed away in 1984 from a heat wave that we had. I'm still heart broken to this day.
I feel for you Jackson, the grieving process takes a long time,I know,I’ve had to actually get help from my doctor over the loss of my pets, chin up mate,I know they will be waiting for you when you pass over, they’re not lost forever.
Jackson thank you for sharing. I feel your pain. I once had 30 chickens, all lived a long life with this vegan. My favorite, my pet, was a white bantam Cochin. RIP “Scarlett” and “Sweetie”. I think I see them right now… playing in the garden together. 🥹
I feel your pain. My oldest cat had a cardiac arrest after anesthesia, fortunately they were able to revive him. He had since passed away from cancer last yr. I truly care more about my cats than people. People have hurt me and my cats have always been loyal
Skin, scales, feathers and fur, they capture our hearts and are just as important as our blood. I'm so so sorry you've lost Scarlett and I hope your healing journey will allow you to hold her to your heart always.
There is nothing on Earth, we humans have ever done,...ever, that can quantify, the unrequited, love from animals. All they want to do is, love us, bring us joy, companionship, and share their lives. Honestly, we don't deserve them. But boy oh boy, are they a blessing, indeed 🙏🕊. I wish you peace, love, and fond memories of the family member you lost. - Paul.
I had a chicken named Archer. Loved him to distraction, and had to rehome him for his own safety after nursing him back to health from a dog attack. The best example I can give of a story to show his personality is this: When we took him to his new home, the lady told us all about her husband loves his birds (there were chickens and ducks and other large pens with many other birds)... by the time he got home and called me, his wife had fallen in love with Archer to the point where she wanted him to be a breeder... she carried him all around while she showed us everything. I thought it was great how much Archer's personality resonated with her!!
Scarlett was a beautiful little lady! I've never had a chicken 🐓 but I've had parakeets and parrots 🦜 and people made nasty derogatory comments when I was mourning their loss! Basically to each their own!! ALL animals are great loving creatures! They all deserve love!!🥰❤💔🐓♥️❤ Again I'm so sorry for your loss!!
I can't judge, I was ready to full snot-cry over a lobster I've never met in person (Leon the Lobster lost a claw, his human made a video with a clickbait title). I've seen tidbits online about pet parrots and pet rats, and I'm surprised at humans' capacity to bond with another creature or inanimate objects (plush toys, dolls, a hardworking robot vacuum).
Omg I'm so sorry!!!! It's hard enough when we know these things are coming, and we can make appropriate decisions after considerable thought. To me, suddenly just seems so much worse. Rest in peace, Scarlett
Expressing your grief is the best way to deal with it, I want to be vegan and I am slowly adopting a more plant based diet, I still eat tuna and eggs but I am finding alternatives for those as well, getting my husband on board has been the hardest part but he is bending now and realizing that not only is it more healthy but a more ethical way to live, my mom used to have a few chickens, they were also not for eating, two of them had escaped the chicken truck, they were very beautiful and white, the same thing happened to them at around 5 years or so, the vet told my mom that they are bred to grow and develop fast as a food source and genetically die early since they were never intended to live long, I think if more people knew this they would change their diets. I am sending you and your wife a huge hug Jackson, your soul is old and you have a deep understanding of this world, you gave her love and a safe home, she is at peace and I pray your heart heals.
It could have been to do with the anaesthetic. Sometimes it can be too stressful for their body to handle and it can cause complications during surgery.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of beautiful Scarlet. Remember her with love and share the laughter she brought to your heart. It hurts now, but soon her memory will bring a smile. Never apologize for your emotions over the loss of a loved one. Real men aren’t hesitant to show such compassion and love. We all understand. We have all been there.
So sorry for your loss Jackson and family! Just looking at this sweet girl omg look at those feet! She just sends out such a vibe on what had to have been a gigantic personality! I fell in love at first sight! Thank you for sharing her❤

It pains me to think that there are people who are deliberately being cruel, because of who or what Scarlett was. I hope that the world gets better some day, for all of us.
💯 ❤
I ❤ my chickens!!!
@@Deborah-vx2ik and I love your chickens! 💕
When we lose pets it’s like losing a family member. I’m deeply sorry for your loss.
They aren’t “like” family. They are family to me.
If I lost my sister I would cry nonstop too. I'm sorry for your loss.
@@nightskylights4501 Actually I have lost both pets and my cousin, and one of my closest friends.
My heart feels the same way, especially when I think about them.
I know how you feel, so please don’t judge.
Animals are special gifts. Losing one is unbearable.
We get so bonded to our pets, it hurts when we loose them 😢 It doesn’t matter what kind of creature they are
I'm so sorry. It's never enough time with our babies.
Thank you for sharing and take good care of yourself ❤
intelligent is an interesting choice...
Never gets easier. One of the things that makes having pets very hard sometimes.
So very sorry for your loss. 🥺She was your pet, your family, no matter her species. It's a terrible loss. RIP Scarlett.
All animals are sentient being. I love them all. Thank you for sharing Scarlett's story
She was a part of your family. And you gave her love and a safe place. So thank you for being a loving human to all😢😢😢❤❤❤
Oh Jackson, I am so terribly sorry😢The worst gut punch ever, the species is irrelevant. All our furbabies are loved unconditionally… they are family❤
*featherbaby
Yep. The connection is what matters
Scarlett = another Earthling
Scarlett = a great personality
Scarlett = a family member
Scarlett = another one of your well-beloved, sweet babies
Finding a vet who takes care of birds can be a real challenge. I used to work with a bird doc.
@@shannon4386 Same here, and babysitters have no clue how to care for a bird.
Love is love Jackson❤ I'm sorry for your loss.
What a pretty little chicken!!! My MOST sincere condolences for your loss.
I’m so sorry for the loss. My goodness, it doesn’t matter the species of a pet, it’s so painful 😭
Sorry for your loss, your compassion doesn't go unnoticed..
The fact that you adopt pets no matter what species or disabilities they have to care and love them proves that you are a amazing human being. God bless.
She was still a family member, so sorry for your loss 😢
Scarlett was beautiful. You gave her a great life. I can see her abscence has left a big mark on your life. She will be remembered ❤
I’m so sorry about Scarlett 💔 I hope your family finds peace and are able to heal in your own due time
We have a 9 Month year old kitten. I can’t imagine the day his life will be up😭..
Scarlett’s death was a family tragedy because she was seen for who she was not her species. So beautiful how other species can bring such love to our lives. I also have seen the unique personalities that other species have. Remember the joy she brought when you are sad and miss her❤😢
You are a beautiful soul. Thank you for sharing, and trusting us.
I'm sooo sorry for your loss. Chicken or not, she had a special place in your heart. I lost my cat in March, and it still hurts.
Her sister, Henny, mourned her so deeply that she refused to leave the coop for a month and didn’t lay that whole time either. It was a huge relief that her passing happened not long after I got a couple young chickens and I honestly think they saved Henny from just dying of heartbreak. I love chickens so much. They are really delightful pets.
Jackson, love knows no bounds. My deepest condolences.
Sending love and comfort
Pets have a special place in our hearts. I'm sorry for your loss Jackson.
Aww, look at her little fluffy feet! She was adorable! My sincere condolences, Jackson. I'm so sorry.
Pets are family! When you said chicken boss, I laughed! Scarlet was chicken boss, indeed!
Oh I am so sorry for your unexpected loss 😢
Fly free wee Scarlett. So sorry for your loss
They are not "just chickens"
x x x rest in paradise Chicken Boss
Dear Scarlett
We Love You pretty girl ❣️
RIP 🙏
I'm so sorry to hear of Scarlett's passing, Jackson. I got the same reaction when our family cockatiel died. Why don't people get it??
I wish more people would be sympathetic to pet loss. It can be different to a human loss because our relationships with pets are so different. My cats sleep in my bed every night, they wait for me to get home, they sit in my lap and love on me when I’m feeling down or lost. It’s not that a human can’t or doesn’t do that, but with pets it’s almost always unconditional.
@@imamajesticseahorse2548hear hear
@@imamajesticseahorse2548 i think people need to start treating all animals with the same respect as humans. if you wouldn't do something to a human, don't do it to an animal especially. but people prefer tast pleasure over life unfortunatly
Same with our rabbit. We had him for 8 years, he was the first animal we adopted as a couple, he meant a lot to us. Just because he wasn't a cat or a dog doesn't change the grief.
Everyone that is here in the comments section gets it.
An animal friend is an animal friend. The loss hurts just the same.
Sending love and hugs your way.
I am so sorry for the loss of sweet, Scarlet! She was a precious little chicken! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💔😢🌈
I feel your pain. My oldest cat had a cardiac arrest after anesthesia, fortunately they were able to revive him. He had since passed away from cancer last yr. I truly care more about my cats than people. People have hurt me and my cats have always been loyal
Sending lots of hugs your way. ❤
Skin, scales, feathers and fur, they capture our hearts and are just as important as our blood. I'm so so sorry you've lost Scarlett and I hope your healing journey will allow you to hold her to your heart always.
Oh no Scarlett. ☹️ Rest in peace sweet baby. 🧸💔
Much love from the UK, Scarlett will be missed.
❤❤any pet is a part of the family ❤❤
Jackson, thank you for sharing this.
- Paul.
I'm mourning with you. My condolences. 😢❤️
Jackson....there are no words. I'm so deeply sorry for your family's sudden loss of Scarlett.
They all deserve love!!🥰❤💔🐓♥️❤
Again I'm so sorry for your loss!!
RIP Scarlett 💜🌹You will be missed by those who loved you
Scarlett picked you! She made the right choice!
That’s terrible.
At least what time she did have was spent with you
You’re a top guy
And a loving caring guy.
Sorry to hear.
I am so very sorry for your loss... there are no words, but you know we all are here for you. Hugs and all our love.
Sending love! She looked like a very caring and loving animal! Sorry for your loss. Sudden losses are never easy.
Omg I'm so sorry!!!!
It's hard enough when we know these things are coming, and we can make appropriate decisions after considerable thought. To me, suddenly just seems so much worse. Rest in peace, Scarlett
I'm sorry for your loss! ❤️
It's always harder when it's unexpected. I know this from experience, unfortunately. 😭
Scarlet is Love is Scarlet. RIP Scarlet, beautiful chicken.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Scarlett was absolutely gorgeous.x
Rip scarlett🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It could have been to do with the anaesthetic. Sometimes it can be too stressful for their body to handle and it can cause complications during surgery.
What an angelic tiny soul! Thank you for sharing her with us.
RTP Sweet Scarlett. It's never easy to lose our beloved furbabies.
or, in this case, featherbabies...
I am soooo sorry. I also get very attached. I love them as much as I love my human children.
Anyone who's owned chickens knows what you mean. Saying prayers for you and yours. Chickens are special and awesome creatures too!
Bless Scarlett and bless the Galaxy family ❤
So sad 😞. Any pet loss is heartbreaking ❤️🩹. My condolences 😢
Jackson, it is never easy to lose a family member, no matter the species. Our companion animals are a part of our families, and losing them is so hard and the grief is real and palpable.
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of beautiful Scarlet. Remember her with love and share the laughter she brought to your heart. It hurts now, but soon her memory will bring a smile.
