It's nice having a video that actually explains step by step what you need to do literally the only video I found that is actually educational thank you
This is very common, may even require cylinder head repair of the top intake chain guide bolt or head replace. There is also an upgraded access port plug that replaces the timing guide bolt. Bolt lossens itself and makes the threaded whole out of round and messes the threads up, causes loose chain and jumping of time.

@@ls1camaro92 quick question. I took off the top cover on my engine to expose the timing chain. I noticed that the chain marks were not aligned to the marks on the sprockets. Is this normal? Or was it not installed correctly? I had a guy change out my water pump and now I have a noise. He claims that one of my chain guides could be damaged which is causing a whining noise in my car when it's running. Any help u can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Wilson Aguirre Gomez well as long as the main sprockets face the correct direction with the marks, you should be fine. It will require multiple revolutions of the crankshaft turned until the chain realigns with the sprocket marks. And as for the water pump, if the water pump wasn’t installed correctly then very possible it can cause noises. But these guides can also become brittle and require changing. Usually the chain requires changed after 115k or if it starts making noises.
You could grow crops in all the dirt you left in that valve cover channel prior to removing the coil packs. No bueno. After getting a bit further in to the vid...I don't think it matters lol.
Is it common for a bolt on the timing chain cover to be placed where it cannot be removed without dismounting the engine? I am considering replacing my own gaskets and timing chain. If I have to dismount the engine I will pass since I do not have all the proper mechanical equipment. Will I run into the same placement on my 2008 2.4L ? Thanks, and great video!
@@18rollinhard whoever installed it may have used some sealant, so once that sealant breaks free, it should slip right off. If there is corrosion, a puller May be used, but by design, it shouldn’t need one.

It looks like there’s a difference between exhaust manifolds between the G6 and Malibu. Unless this is an LE9 (E85 version of the LE5). On the G6, the exhaust manifold has the catalytic converter built into it. And the upstream O2 sensor is bolted horizontally, not vertically
How do you know to inspect the chain? Like does it run rough or not at all? My Chevy 2010 malibu quit on the freeway and a mechanic is telling me I need new engine. Edit: he did not remove anything just ran scan tool and turned the key and said he recognized the noise.

I drained the oil, it looks like caramel but it definitely wasn't overfilled an extra 9 quarts of coolant, but definite coolant in the crank case.
