    U shouldn’t need a puller to remove the crank pulley. It’s not pressed on but I guess it could stuck a bit with corrosion.

      On the 2.4 it's not pressed?

      @@howididitgarage. Nope

      @@howididitgarage. When a pulley has a keyway it won't be pressed.

      Well, most of the ones I have took off felt like it. I'm not used to dealing with new cars that has below 180k on them.

      @@howididitgarage. I get it, I work on old stuff too. FYI, if a pulley is keyed, it won’t be pressed on.

    The book says when setting timing on the 2008+ 2.4, that we should set crank #1 piston TDC to exhaust stroke and not the compression stroke.
    Prior to 2008, it's at the compression stroke. Weird.

      I believe so, jack with block of wood under oil pan should do it.

    i just took on a 2009 "Malibu Barbie" ...lol with 220k. Just started hearing the famous "Gurgling" sounds and think i need to get the headgasket replaced. Thank you for the informative vid! this looks like something i can do. I havnt watched pt. 2 yet but how long did this job take you?

      One mouth, I have another ride so I took my time and had to wait for machine shop to finish the head. Also took some time re leaping valve’s in. It takes some work.

    Do you have to replace the timing chain if you know it’s just the head gasket that needs to be replaced?

    • @howididitgarage.

      No!

      Do I still need to remove the chain at all to get to the head gasket? Like how you removed the wheel etc?

    • @howididitgarage.
      @howididitgarage.  Рік тому

      Yes. I believe it covers it all in video.
