Tony-I have been exploring UA-cam videos about Lisbon for almost a year. My family & I are visiting Portugal for 2 weeks in May 2023. I have to say this is one of the most thorough, insightful, & thoughtful summaries I have seen. Thank you for the great work & reinforcing all the great places I look forward to seeing. Also, you have some great drone shots of the sites, are you a drone photographer as well?
Thank you so much for your kind words, Tom. On our videos we always try to put the focus on the places we visit rather than on ourselves. We don't do drone photography, it requires an absurd amount of time and the regulations are a true headache. The drone shots we use are purchased from a stock library. We decided to use them as, as well as being beautiful, they help understand the cities they portray. All the best.

Hi Tony, love your videos and they really enhanced a recent trip to Barcelona. Would you recommend Lisbon for a 3-4 day city break with children aged 7 and 10?
Hi Jonathan, great to hear you had a great time in Barcelona. Lisbon has quite a lot of content, such a short break would make it a hectic trip. Porto might be a more suitable destination. On 17 September we'll publish a video on things to do in Porto. All the best.
amazing videos Tony. very professional. sorry, i have one question. is the Аscensor da Bica currently operational or is it under repair? if closed, does the wagon stand outside for pictures? thanks
Thank you! A note at the website of the operator states the Ascensor da Bica is undergoing maintenance, due to end on 18 December. Not sure where the wagons stand while the maintenance takes place.
Hi Tony, as always great video! Quick question, does the lisboa card cover unlimited transportation (bus/tram/ train)? Or must we buy a separate one (viva viagem card). Thanks!
Hi Anna, we are still going to have a video on the Lisboa Card but, in the meantime, yes, the card covers unlimited transport within the city of Lisbon in all the means of transportation we present in this video: ua-cam.com/video/tI0u1HtMccA/v-deo.html
Your videos are always so informative and well-organized! Thank you! I'm going to Lisbon for the first time in a week. Do you recommend the Lisboa Card? I saw that it covers many transportation and Attractions. Is it a good deal? Also, do you have an opinion about Boemio FLH Hotel in the Rossio area?
Hello there, we have a video on the Lisboa Card scheduled for 2 April. We found it to be a very good deal. The location of your hotel is perfect for tourism in Lisbon. It's got very good reviews. You can see what we think of the region on this video ua-cam.com/video/iTR0P2gxvig/v-deo.html
Hi Tony. We enjoy all your informative videos! A question about Jeronimos Monastery. We were calculating if the Lisboa card would be a better value than just paying for each site we will visit and public transport separately. (We plan to use the metro and buses with the Viva card.) When I look on the Jeronimos Monastery website specifically, there are 16 different choices of tickets to purchase. On the Lisboa card add, it says the monastery is free, but the "cloisters and rest of the monastery" is not free. Can you please clarify the Jeronimo Monastery site options.........is it the church itself and many other structures? We are confused. Thanks for your help.
Hello again. We have the official brochure for the Lisboa Card and it doesn't mention any restriction at all the Jerónimos Monastery. The cloisters are where 90% of the visit to the monastery takes places. It is included in the card. We recorded a recent video with some updates on the Lisboa Card here ua-cam.com/video/mAOnlXe1iKs/v-deo.html
Tony, my wife and i are visiting Portugal for a month in October...what video editing apps or software do you edit with. Your videos are excellent and so well written and presented.. im inquiring about editing as i want to make a video of our trip for my family here in Florida . Thanks in advance for any help in this inquiry. We have watched and learned so much from your videos that i feel like ive already been there...i have not seen.. although we have been to Barcelona for 2 weeks a few years ago.
Excellent video. How often does it take the eyes of an outsider to offer a different perspective of things and places you've known all your life and take for granted ? Too often.
Thank you for your kind words. The eyes of the outsider are always interesting, not necessarily better or worse, just a different perspective. All the best!
Thanks for this information-packed video, Tony! We are planning to visit Lisboa in April, and as we are servants to 2 lovely cats, we are particularly interested in that mural of a cat shown in your video in the Arte Urbana section. It would be great if you can provide the location (intersection of streets, or a Google map location). Thanks!
Hi tony! Hope all is well with you and your family, were coming from barcelona for 3 days and head out to madrid for 3 days with high speed train. We also plan to visit lisbon for 3 days. Ive been searching train from madrid to lisbon but nothing is coming up on search that are reliable. Is it better for us to fly from madrid to lisbon then fly back to barcelona before we head back home. What airline would you suggest. Its our first time to visit spain with my family of 4. Thank you in advance and thank you for sharing all your videos that are very informative, had help me alot in planning our 10 day vacation.
Hello, you can see the details on how to travel from Spain to Portugal on this video ua-cam.com/video/NS9AocaBuxQ/v-deo.html Choose whichever airline meets best your requirements in terms of timetable, price and luggage.
Amazing videos! Thank you! I am going to Lisbon in March and I have decided to buy a Lisboa card. When visiting Jeronimos monastery do I have to make a registration or should I just enter with the card?
Hi Svetla, just head to the fast queue, no need to go through the ticket office. See more details of how the Lisboa Card works here ua-cam.com/video/3ChNxwMCIhM/v-deo.html
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you for your prompt answer! I visited the site to buy the Lisboa card, they want me to choose a specific date. What does that mean? Do I have to get the card only on this date, or can I take it before this date?
I think that's for statistical purposes. If you read the details, you are not forced to begin using the card on the date you select, you can do it any other day of your choice.
Great info here! (Again, small thing: The added music, same over and over again, is kind of annoying.) Reaching the platform of the Santa Justa Lift, good idea to the stairs on the opposite side instead, also an elevator there, it's totally free!
Hola Tony.
We are going to Lisbon in two months. I think in another video you did the tower in Belem wasn't open and you mentioned that during that day of the week, many attractions were also closed. Is that on Mondays or Sundays? We only have from Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Lisbon :( And we want to do an entire day in Sintra. Which two days would work best to visit all the attractions you mentioned here in your Lisbon video? We will have to go back next year. I just didn't have the ability to extend our trip. Thank you! As always, you two are the best. We will be in Malaga and Madrid also in two months and you have given us some amazing amazing tips.
Hi Melissa, you might be referring to another channel, we don't recall ever saying the Belém tower wasn't opened. Museums tend to close on Mondays, but you would have to check one by one. To see Lisbon properly -at least, the places we mention above- you would need between five and seven days, and then an extra day for Sintra. Perhaps do Lisbon on Saturday and Sunday and Sintra on Monday, but check out the opening times in Sintra of the places you intend to visit.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you. I know I didn't book enough time. We have little kids at home and couldn't be away that long. However, we book trips on points and miles and will schedule more time next year just for Lisbon. We don't plan on seeing all 20 locations. Only maybe 2 or 3 max per day. Thank you. I love your channel.
Ola Tony I have a question regarding booking online tickets for Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. We are both in our 70s and I have tried to book a reduced seniors ticket online but cannot find an option on the official web site to do so, for seniors. I believe the price would reduce to €6. The only option I can see is for a €12 ticket. Is it not possible to book a seniors ticket in advance online? What are the options I have to do this? Obrigada Barbara Australia
Question … I’ll be traveling to Portugal next April 2024. I’m joining a tour in Lisbon, however I want to get there a week early to see more sites in Lisbon and elsewhere (not included in the tour). I’ll fly over in late March so will be there during Easter. Any idea how crowded it will be on Good Friday, Easter weekend? Any idea if most businesses will be closed during those days, or Easter Sunday? I’m wondering what I’ll be able to do. If you have any ideas or thoughts about what it’s like during week before Easter, and Easter weekend, I would greatly appreciate hearing. Thank you!
Hi again Susan, there will be quite a few tourists from other European countries during the Easter break - not so much because of the religion celebrations but because it's a bank holiday. Most tourists attractions will work as usual, shops and restaurantes might close a couple of days, no more than that.
Thank you, Tony, for this awesome video. We are going in July. We are planning to rent a car. What is the status of finding parking spots in these facilities?
Hi Tony, I have a car booked with Drive on Holidays for November 20 to 28. Are they reputable in your opinion? They say to meet them at the Voda phone booth then go offsite. Is this a good idea or can you recommend something better with value. Thank you!
Hi Tom, we've never rented with them, but the opinions about them in TrustPilot are terrible. The Vodafone booth is close to the tourist office, on the video on how to leave the airport we show you where it is: ua-cam.com/video/s-3owFj8xpk/v-deo.html
Gracias.
Muchas gracias.
Also I see that pena palace is 10% off with the Lisboa card. I also have heard that it's good to buy tickets ahead of time for many sites. Is there a way to purchase the Lisboa card, and then purchase the tickets and get the 10% discount that the Lisboa card grants? Or are all the discounts needing to be redeemed at the entrance once you arrive? Thank you!
If you but the Lisbon Card only to get a 10% off the Pena Palace on the day you go to Sintra, you won't be making a good use of the card. Don't buy the Lisbon Card for that day and pay the full fare.
Just visited Lisbon, unfortunately Torre de Belém not opened for rainy days, Pilar 7 elevator not working (we walked 25 floors of steps but the window of the platform was blurred from rain, couldn’t see the view of Lisbon from the top…), Elevator Santa Justa platform not open. If there is an app to update which attractions close/open that day will be very helpful to tourists.
Hi! I’m from BriteSpark Films, a documentary company based in the U.K. we’d loved to feature this in a show we are making. What’s the best way to contact you to request permission and credits?
hi, can I ask you if you get your drone registered first? I am non EU Citizen, I have the A1-A3/A2 License but I can't register my drone (get the registration number with ANAC) because the portal/system only allows citizen of Portugal or EU. Please help me on this. I am in Portugal now and worry to fly my drone
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal We are leaving next Monday for Lisbon & the Faro District. I did a lot of research over the last few months on Portugal, and your videos are the most informative and reliable source of information that I came cross on UA-cam.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you!

I have a question regarding booking online tickets for Mosteiro dos Jeronimos.
Obrigada

Hi Barbara, which website are you using to buy those tickets?
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
Tony, I am using the official website for the Monastery
Would you mind sharing the url? There are many lookalike websites impersonating the official website.
Thank you!
Thank you, Tony, for this awesome video. We are going in July. We are planning to rent a car. What is the status of finding parking spots in these facilities?
Hi Yancy, renting a car in Lisbon would be a terrible, terrible idea. We strongly advice against doing so.
Thanks for the heads up Tony!

Question. If you have to book a time slot for an attraction can you still do so with a Lisboa Card?
You cannot book time slots with the Lisboa Card.
Any general video about Porto? We are going there in 2 weeks
Not yet, we plan on starting with our Porto video series in July.
Hello, I wanted to know your opinion if it’s worth day trip from Lisbon to Porto? Thanks.
To us, that would be an absolute no-no. Porto deserves a minimum of three or four days.
Buenas tardes.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thank you for the tip. I'll only buy it for the two full days I'm in Lisbon then. Thank you.
Where would be a good (economical) place to buy some tiles as souvenirs??
No specific recommendation, you will find them everywhere in the centre of Lisbon.
Hi Tony, can you please make a video for Porto? Thank you
We've just been to Porto and the first of several videos dedicated to the city should come out in July.
Hi Tony May I ask you how can go to the carvoeiro from Sevilla ?It seems no direct bus ,any suggestions?Sorry to trouble you!
Hi there, we haven't researched that part of Portugal yet.
Such platform would be excellent indeed. But we don't know of its existence.
how to get to portugal from spain via train? is it possible?
It's not.
Navy Museum and Coach Museum are also a point of reference..
Yes, but they didn't make the cut.
Thank you, plz how can I reach Saramago ( a writer) house it is now a museum.?
You can see the details here www.josesaramago.org/en/
Hi! I’m from BriteSpark Films, a documentary company based in the U.K. we’d loved to feature this in a show we are making. What’s the best way to contact you to request permission and credits?
Hello there, I'm afraid we don't hold broadcasting rights for all the footage we use in our programs.
And Braga too.?
Haven't been there yet.
hi, can I ask you if you get your drone registered first? I am non EU Citizen, I have the A1-A3/A2 License but I can't register my drone (get the registration number with ANAC) because the portal/system only allows citizen of Portugal or EU. Please help me on this. I am in Portugal now and worry to fly my drone
Hi, we're not specialists on the topic. But do not fly your drone unless you are 100% positive you can do so.
It would have been better to do the video by geographical proximity instead of alphabetic way
There are quite a few items on the video that unrelated to specific locations in the city.
Watch your wallets and purses.
I was robbed in the central area.
The police laughed. Horrible place
Watch our video warning about pickpockets in Lisbon ua-cam.com/video/t9khWe25Jcw/v-deo.html (in most European tourist cities, as a matter of fact).
Thanks!
That's very kind of you!
