Problem with doing that today is cars have airbags and any scratch on the paint is at least a $1000 to fix I had a girl back into my new truck and it cost $2500 to put a new bumper on it because her car had a trailer hitch so she put 4 dents in my new truck. With all the dash cams and street cams there is no such time as just a bump and run,
Almost every car I've owned has been a beater in some capacity. Obviously I try to treat them respectfully, but having a car that won't ruin my day from getting scratched or dented is relieving.
The ultimate quality of a beater car is that it can occupy no space in you mind, bumps n scratches, no problem, purely mechanically sound and easy to get parts for
its the fact you dont have to worrying about keeping it mint or the fact that the dude behind you has been tailing you for the last 5 miles and you couldnt care less about them rear ending your beater. picking one up honestly was a great choice I drive that to work and get to drive my fun cars on the weekend
I don't care if its a beater car im still gonna do proper maintenance like oil changes and spark plugs things ill cheap out on is stuff like ac or power seats windows that roll all the way down but I try to give every car truck anything I own a good chance at what it was designed to do.
My 06 accord 5speed manual is a beater, as long as I get the oil change and transmission fluid change on time+ basic maintenance, car never leave me stranded. Can go anywhere, many time took it to a 5 hours+ drive and back without any problem. My 04 Toyota Sequoia is a beater car, same thing like my accord, just basic maintenance on time , drive like a beast.
My 2011 WRX does the same thing, and I only ever do regular oil changes, twice a year (technically should be doing 3-4 times on this car). Never had an issue with it, super reliable.
That's pretty much my Toyota Aygo The front bumper is loose all the wheels are curbed, the trim that goes on top of the roof into the rain gutters or whatever it is, is held in with glue etc etc
I am the 3rd owner of a 20 year old Mazda with 5 speed manual. Apparently the other two either didn’t know to drive stick or sucked at it. Dents all over the place with low miles but runs well. It’s a keeper.
My car has roll down window, stick, hand lever for seat, knob cassette radio, AC that only works with the engine on, and double click high beams.... not once have I ever locked it and even with keys inside the only thing to go missing are twinkies and bottled water 😅
Not to mention all beater cars have free parking sensors! Just slowly roll forward or back until you hit whatevers in front or behind you
Exactly

I think beater cars have more personality than any other type of car

Beater cars are the best! Just works and nothing else
Take your beater car across country!!
cb7 build series
If its a beater with a manual trans then its cool
Time to buy a 2001 Corolla
Beater cars are also perfect for committing crimes 😎
Manual transmissions being anti theft is a total joke, my 5spd ranger was stolen out of my driveway last year.
that’s cause it’s ranger, it’s one the most stolen vehicles
thats a decent protege
