Bottom line- good tires and brakes are a MUST.
tires have always been the best upgrade you can do to a car. A cars performance is ultimately limited by its grip potential.
Those are the best first upgrades to do to a car.
Only thing that touches the road in a way the most important thing on your car 100hp / 1000hp all must translate through the tire 😂🏁👍🏼
The problem with tires is that if you pick something too sticky then you'll potentially create even more issues with understeer and you'll cook your brakes that much faster.
Is semi slick tires a must?
In summary: It's more fun to drive a slow car, fast; than to drive a fast car, slow.

Saw a guy in a high mileage $3k 07 Camry V6 at the track once. He did this exact same thing -- swapped wheels/sticky tires and better pads. Since it was the v6, he was literally *KILLING* it. Total sleeper.
Yeah those v6s make about 270hp. I've seen a 6spd stripped out one before. they can be really fun.

maybe chuck on some TRD superchargers if I find the money.

It's always more fun to drive a slow car fast.
Don't know why, but I actually feel a sense of proudness for that car, it's like it pushed itself out of its limits and wanted to be like the others. Keep going, Little Lancer!

@Seasexnsun I remember Toyota sold a Turbocharged version of your car too. Had close to 150 hp (that's what an average 2.0L NA makes). Drove the heck out of it in Gran Turismo and it reaches just over 200 km/h on its own stock. 🤣👌 It's like a fwd Lotus Elan.
Just remember that the yaris isnt a safe car. I daily a 2007 yaris and constantly worry about dieing in it. A rollcage is a must imo.

I love this! I bought a lancer for $170, put some used AO50's on it and it's done heaps of events both off road and on track. Some of the best motorsport fun I've had!

Spare was already deleted. From experience the rear seat weights about 5 lbs. The passenger seat maybe 30 or so? The car has like 80 horsepower, let's not stress about it.

Also a must for any car that is over 10 years old and that lived all its life in the rust belt, install new ball joints and new rubber suspension parts! It might drive fine on the road, but on the track, an old dry rotted bushing or ball joint, especially on a double wishbone setup, can snap at any moment!
I learned that the hard way when the ball joint snapped on my '97 Civic.

I just saw another Honda with a snapped ball joint that caused a major traffic jam on a 2 lane highway. Better be safe than sorry.

@@maxre9626 yes but they r illegal swaps and mods. Sg is quite strict in terms of mods for power so its quite difficult to rlly even gain 50 hp
@@maxre9626 usually 4G93 and yes sometimes AWD conversion heck even full GSR Convert with 4G63T AWD and everything (CK,CB and CS Lancers)
Lancer with good tyres and brakes are pretty handy. In fact for a really long time a Lancer actually had the record for the downhill on one of local touges.

I've always said the most fun daily is an economy sedan or hatch with a manual transmission, sticky tires, brake pads (at least the pads), springs and maybe some sway bars. This was cool to see go around the track. Great video!

Man, that made me smile. I used to do track days when I was about 16 with my brother and I've missed it so much. As of two days ago, I purchased a 2008 Sentra SE-R Spec V and I plan to do some track days next year! So stoked to go from lifted trucks to something like this!

Nice to see a big UA-cam channel do something with the Evos little brother.
Owning both of them at the same time is pretty cool. A '98 Evo 5 and a '07 CS3 Lancer "Elegance" as they were known in the UK, obviously the Evo is a different model and shape but the CS3 shares a lot in common with the Evo 7's, 8's and 9's and have a big cult following!
I love mine. It's the perfect daily. It's fast enough, and good enough on fuel to drive daily and just behind the Evo, the most comfortable car I have owned!
If you plan on future videos, some coilovers or even just some H&R lowering springs like I've got on mine help massively with handling and body roll! They can be great little cars!

To answer the question : if its a Japanese made car , then definitely yes .. my friends and i once took a camry SE to the track , excessive body roll , nose dive every time you brake hard and many other stuff but it was huge fun .. i would never do that in my CLS mercedes because im not sure about the outcome lol ..

I know I'm about 2 years late and the Lancer is probably no longer in Gears and Gasoline's possession, but I think it would be a cool idea for a series to see how much it would cost to turn a beater Lancer into a track eating machine. You know, things like better tires and wheels, coil over suspension, better brakes, a few engine mods, stripping out the interior, giving it lightweight bucket seats, maybe even adding something like a roll cage or a turbocharger.

Love tracking my CRZ for exactly the same reason. I've been flat out full lap in most tracks in so cal. All it needed was some ceramic pads and sticky rubber to be a riot. I've now put brembos up front and stiffened up the chassis with a front sway bar and it's the best thing since sliced bread. Anytime I track it, my friends want to go out in it because it's so fun.
First channel I have seen on UA-cam to torque the wheel nuts. 😂

LeMons and Chump car still require you to have a pretty much dedicated crap car that's not street legal.
