  • Come along with me and my dog Saku on this 68 day wilderness camping adventure. We are travelling for 700 kilometres across the harsh and challenging wilderness of Newfoundland, Canada. We are camping, backpacking, paddling and snowshoeing often days aways from civilization. Along the way we stop into communities for resupplies. This is episode #6 of the docuseries.

I am aiming for 8 episodes of this expedition. This is something that Saku and I have put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and time into. Living outside my comfort zone and at times, a little close to the edge. Feeling my heartbeat and feeling more alive. It's the only way I know how and it's the life that fills my soul. We hope you enjoy the series.

**BACKSTORY: In the Spring of 2017 I embarked on a 700km snowshoe, Alpacka raft, backpacking expedition across the harsh yet magical Newfoundland interior wilderness. I was solo as a human but far from alone. By my side from start to finish was my loyal Cape Shore Water Dog, Saku. We went through thick and thin together in order to travel across some of the least explored wilderness regions of our province. We encountered frequent wildlife while battling desolate barrens, thick bush, mountain ranges, storms, sub-zero temperatures, raging whitewater, massive lakes, the Atlantic Ocean and monster trout. Often we were days of man-power travel away from civilization. It was a big challenge and an unforgettable blessing.
Newfoundland is the island portion of the province "Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada"
We have A LOT of unoccupied land and endless outdoor opportunities. The interior of the island is largely uninhabited. What exists is primarily remote wilderness. That is where our trip took place. From the western side of the island we traversed for the most part trackless woods and waters to reach the eastern end of the province. I documented the entire journey by camera and that is what I will share with you here on my channel.

The way you care for Saku is awesome, many outdoor folks their dogs are a tool and treated as such. Saku is definitely your much loved companion. It’s sweet how you give him the fish when their isn’t enough for two. Fellow dog lover here!

Thank you for paying respect to the Mikmag. And what hospitality for Chief Misel to show you around. Thank you for including this. There are too many folks who take advantage of the outdoors and talk about the history of settlement as if that were the beginning and don't give a word or thought to the peoples and nations whose lands they walk whether lands they currently inhabit or those they were forced to leave.

Watching these from West Wales and seriously helping with heart attack rehab. These films have helped with additional mental health problems brought on by same issue, sleep, anxiety etc.
Many thanks to you and Saku and can't wait to relaunch my old boat and get a line and the odd pot in the water.
    Looking forward to more adventures.
