Camping Alone with my Dog and a Big Campfire | Spring is in the Air

- Come spend a night camping with me and my dog Saku. We hike into the beautiful and peaceful woods of Newfoundland. There I find one of Nature's many mattresses - a comfy bed of reindeer moss (aka caribou moss, reindeer lichen). It's grand turf to pitch the tent on and lay by the fire. I cook up a few feeds, spend quality time with Mother Nature and have an encounter with a bold Beaver protecting its lodge.

Wonderful series Justin, thanks for sharing ! Greetings from Holland 🌷
Great job, I liked it. Excellent cinematography and excellent directing. Thanks for the quality content! ⛺🔥
Directing? It's just him. Who is he directing? His dog? Lol i think you meant great production. 😁
I love how Saku is so much more than just “company.” He is a companion.
Hahaha man. Trying to get a GoPro on a weenie tripod to stand up straight on anything in the backcountry is an exercise in frustration. Went on an ebike bikepacking trip, and had this happen to me like 20 times while trying to film the damn trip
Nice that you are back (here in Europe) with great videos! We missed you ! You are a "real" bushcrafter who also films real nature. I wish you all the best and hope for more and more videos! Hug the dogs, they are amazing! Thank you! 😀👍
Another great dinner you're some good cook Justin. I have a question..I believe Saku loves it in the woods as much as you but what does Bear have to say when he sees you leave home without him? 💞💗💞
She's not impressed but Heather looks after her!
Loves the video Justin…hope I will do this now that I live in Newfoundland ❤️
Sixteen years growing up in Newfoundland… I don’t remember ever seeing a beaver outside of Salmonier Nature Park… We also had a cabin up on Salmonier Line…
Your videos really bring it all back. I miss most of all the winter boil ups out ice fishing…
Keep up the great work!
Hey Aaron I grew up in Carbonear so you had pretty much been my neighbor 😁

'Stop eating poop! You've got to sleep with me tonight!'
Justin Barbour
That morning close up of Saku's greying muzzle made me realise that I've been watching that dog grow from a pup. Great job Justin, great job!
I always enjoy peeking in on your adventures through our great outdoors. Catch you on the next one.
Came from your instagram, beaver is looking cute 🤎🦫
I am about to take off on my first solo night! Thanks for the motivation!
Hope it went good!
Great job Justin. A nice morsel of things to come from you this summer.
The image above the trees showing your tent is beautiful.
The 5 second rule in the woods is as long as you want. Ain’t that the truth.
Nice drone footage, so beautiful out there.
This was fun. If you keep making em, we'll keep watching em. Thanks Justin. Looking forward to those next 3 episodes.
wonderful video. hey saku keep safe
Your videos are a huge reason why I moved and am beginning to build back up my outdoor skills. More importantly, why I left a big city to enjoy nature at every chance I have.
Appreciate that comment, all the best with your journey. We were meant to move through nature!
What a fantastic video.
If I had a spot like that I'd be there every free weekend I had.
Drift a fly for some brook trout.
Looking forward to your next adventure.
Cheers
Thanks for taking us along. I love to watch these little outings.
Keep up with the great videos Justin
uploaded 5 secs before I sat to eat from planting fruit trees.. have a coffee and head back out.. what a day!
he got a drone!
cool
Excellent as usual! You are very inspiring!--Fantastic filming, editing, and producing.-Thanks!
Wow! First viewer. Love your videos Justin, keep up the great work.
I watch corporal corner and also Vanessa blank's upload..bushcraft the only way to 🚶. Welcome back Justin.
Maybe I missed you saying it but where was this? Far from where you live?
Camp was a BEAUTY spot.
Thanks for responding to previous questions, love the videos!
I dream of doing this some day soon. Thank you for sharing your journeys!
Thanks Justin. Your work is brilliant. Waving the hand from Australia 🤠🇦🇺👍
Just saw the work of a couple of beavers on my Northern Ontario property. They do make some beautiful ponds! Good video.👍
Funny ,but in this fast pace world I think everyone needs a FIX to escape. When I wanted to escape from the daily gym noise ,I would tell my wife that I was going for my WOOD FIX.That first step in the wood to check those rabbit snares was like walking into a VACUUM! And that special outdoor smell was unbelievable. Now that I am retired,I don’t have to tell my wife where I’m going anymore . Must admit ,I think I’m hooked on your videos!!lol!!
Justin, a good relaxing rejuvenate trip for you and Saku. Thanks for filming it and uploading the video, the country looks stark after winter Cheers, Paul from south east Australia 🇦🇺
Look at you, Mr Fancy Cameraman :). Most excellent camera work for a solo guy. Wonderful little impromtu episode. I miss NL so much.
Just finished rewatching 68days across Newfoundland series. Glad to see you back with new content
Dandy little overnighter, get away from civilization!! That beaver pond looked like a wicked spot for a few Brookies. I know yee got seasons for trout there now, probably not a bad place to have a flick! Till the next time, cheers!
Excellent…The MSR tent has served you and Zach well.
New Brunswick Canada 🇨🇦
Ya can’t beat being in the NL outdoors even if it’s only for a quick night trip. I here counting down the sleeps before a week long trip to my camp in Millertown for some camp maintenance, fishing (trouting) and bear stand work.
Justin by assume video. Nothing like being in the woods enjoying the peace and tranquility getting away from all the troubles in the world. Great drone footage as well. Enjoy the rest of your camping trip keep up the great videos.
For the life of me I can't understand why this young man doesn't have more subs.Hd is the real deal.Doods got skills.
Very beautiful and relaxing videos🐝🕊️
Thank you for sharing your huge piece of paradise! 👍😎🇨🇦🌲🔥🐾🌎
Beautiful spot, the Beaver didn't seem too worried about you being there, thanks for sharing this glimpse into the reawakening of spring.
Awesome to see you back out with Saku for a over night camp adventure always a joy to watch , have to love wilderness camping so peaceful chance to see the wildlife, better away from civilization . I always feel better after camping on crown land here in Ontario. Been watching your videos for some time now and always look forward to the next. Saku is such a good camping buddy enjoying the adventures as much as you do what a sweet dog so cute. Your cinematography captures the beauty of the land that surrounds you as well as the drone footage very epic Thanks Justine
Fantastic opening shots! Quality video, beautiful area there for sure.
Great times! Drone adds so much! I'm looking at getting one for the same purpose, what do you use or recommend? Cheers.
Perfect really, right down to the marmalade and crackers. I still have visions of that bake apple on crackers from that other video. Yis eh!
Love it! Love your outdoor spirit! Thank you soooooooooo much for sharing! Keep 'em comin'!
That must be the best walking ground in central. Dandy video as usual.
My favourite part is watching Sak run! In his element.
Soooo beautiful where you are! I love outdoorsmen life! And you made some delicious meals! Love your channel more than I can say!
Thanks for the fireside chat! Always good to see your adventures, please take us along for more naps in the woods my friend
That beaver made me think of the flik Groundhog Day. Lol
Compared to some of your other adventures, this is a night at the Downtown Hilton, but still a good watch!
Are there many ticks in Newfoundland?
Cute little beaver. I love critters of all types.so cute. I wish them all success in life and happiness and good dinners for all.
one of those days couldnt go anyweres bored as heck what am i gonna do then i seen this a new vid from justin and the by's ...made my day so much better watched it twice today and it made me force myself to go for a walk in the woods out back to a beaver pond i know and that sure took the boredom out of my day thank you justin and saku for your contagious inspiration for the love of nature and the outdoors 🌲🇨🇦🌲
He's such a good boy.ur lucky to have him. And bear
A nice relaxing video. The drone footage is a welcome Addition to the channel.
Best kind.👍
Looked like a nice get away 👍
Wow! Just beautiful 😍. That shot of Saku next to the tent in the white moss would make a stunning wall print ☺
Great video buddy glad u r back keep them coming until next time stay safe
Finest kind! Mashed potatoes with kippers... yeah... gotta give that a go, ha!
God I love watching you and the pups 🛶❤️
Nice in-between!!! I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!
What do you do for ticks?
very few in nfld... I asked the same question
Sawyer spray for clothes works great. Got mine at runnings here in ny state. If it helps
@@stannelson2582 canip oil is 3 to 10 times better than deet for bugs bugs
Nice one! Enjoyed the drone overhead perspective and the fire images….
Hulk smashed that like button Justin. Awsome overnighter. What a beautiful campsite by the brook. I wonder what kind of fish was in that little brook ? Anyway I loved it Hoss 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
brook trout there but season wasn't open yet Bill
Im glad im not buying the groceries to feed you! I think you might have a tape worm lol.
Great way to start the weekend!
U mention spuds.I'm going to peel some potatoes and make myself some mashed potatoes. 1 do make great mashed potatoes
Nice day short one. Good to see you being able to relax and chill. You're always on the run.
Lovely way to start a weekend watching you and Saku chilling by the fire on an overnight trip. Nice use of a drone that wasn't distracting. Have enjoyed all your series!
That's the best by a fire having a cold one and camping in the woods
Hey, I notice you eat in your tent; do you not worry about bears. We don't dare eat in our tents where I live; the bears will be crashing the tent.
Nice job you get a new drone? Will enhance all your trips.
This vid is so therapeutic
Watching it again. Great adventure mate.
Hi Justin another great video love the isolation and the peace and quiet
Cool vid Justin. Spent a few nights myself on the moss bud nothing wrong with it. Thinking back think a few of them were a bit rough ahaha. Ever get in a wet sleeping bag? Naw, i didn't think so, just kidding, take care. Me and her are watching this one now! congrats on the knot!
Had some wet bags for sure thanks for tunin in b'ys
As always love it ... however what are you using to pound in the peg of your tent?
The drone footage really puts into perspective how remote these areas are. I love it.
Love it!!! Some time you just got to go get out!!! ❤️ beautiful dog!!!
You are a good ambassador for the province of FLD and Labrador.
Good times! I need to get out there too. The City is getting real old. I could smell the wood smoke and those onions and potatoes cooking.
Nice to see you out there and thanks for sharing. Looked like a great little night out.
Thanks Justin for sharing your time with us.
I wondered how Bear's wound near his eye was ? Love your return to Utube 💕
Thanks to Justin and Saku 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🥾🥾 🇨🇦🇳🇴
Saku some dog Justin. Great vid hope you were out this last weekend.....best 24th I can recall.
I was out for sure thanks a lot Ed buddy
You can't go wrong when you do it right. Great job, by's!
Such a peaceful place there good eating there too
Ok, I'll ask the stupid question first. Did you divest in a drone? I've watched several of your vids but never saw the overheads and I was thinkin' how grand that would have been on your long winter/spring hikes, checking out the river ice conditions and all. How old is Saku now? I was guessing around 2ish. He probably got some gray muzzle hairs on that dunk in the river when you hit the White Wall of Malice! I was glad you two made it out of that one in one piece. You.....and Saku handled it well. Mother Nature
is always throwing a screwball once in awhile, eh? Keep on keeping on, bro!
I just got a drone last spring and Saku actually just turned 6! Thanks for the comment!
Super video @Justin Barbour. Loved the drone footage. You have such a great travel companion in Saku ! By the way, what bird is there at 26:05 in the video ? Greetings from Holland!
Hi Johannes I am not sure of the breed of bird but I may look into it now, thanks for watching! Best wishes
Nice to see you relaxed and in good weather. Nice
Gotta love those Purity crackers.
Nice one Justin , great editing and music accompaniment ...... Question ? Do you know what that bird was sat tweeting away at the top the tree 26.05 ??
Hi John I am not sure of the breed of bird but I may look into it now, thanks for watching! Best wishes
"Nap in the woods"..... I love it!!!
Nice….. Mr. Barbour at his best..
