  • This tutorial shows how to make a pleasing curvy pendant with a beautiful Cabochon of Indonesian Petrified Wood cut by my friend John. I'll put a link down further if you'd like to visit his store. This is an Intermediate level project. For materials, I used 18 gauge sterling round wire, 10, 12, 14, and 16 gauge sterling square wire, 22 gauge sterling sheet, and 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) fine silver bezel strip in 28 and 26 gauge. As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and My-T-Flux from Rio Grande.
It is important to use safe practices when dealing with fire, sharp tools, and chemicals. Here is a video on safety: • General Silversmithing...

Love your videos! For your soldering pad that isn’t quite flat anymore - take it outside to a sidewalk or driveway and rub that side on the concrete. Voila! Fresh surface and flat!

Would love to see some of the polishing process - I've watched your video with tips about polishing of course. I've just got home from work so timing of this video couldn't be better! Thanks again Chad ❤

Very beautiful pendant..... Got a quick question...what is your take on using glass cabs... I am a lampworker and make Victorian florals I could cut the bead in half and use that

Hello Jane. Mostly I use silicone abrasive wheels to prep before polishing. I go through a lot of the white knife edge sort which are the coarsest variety. I use the blue fine ones for cleaning up the tops of bezels and such.

Love this piece! You said you use white silicone abrasives to clean before polishing. What do you use to clean the bezel after you've soldered on the decorative side piece? It's difficult to get in-between the wire and the bezel. Thanks!

Aggressive polishing on the big polishing machine with both White Diamond polishing compound followed by Zam seems to get in there pretty well:)
