Something I have realised since i started on this silversmith journey is all the people I like to watch are all independent thinkers, what I mean by that is you don't just go by the book you always think outside the box & if it works it works & I love that. Thanks Chad these are all just beautiful!!!
Nice unique settings Chad. The prong setting is cool. Like you said fingers loading the stone in place but I do really like the folded over tabs and putting the 45 degree corners on the added to the finished piece. Thanks for this!!
I have one of the bottles I bought mine from Rio Grande it also comes with different tips sizes, but it great for my green flux too… But I really think I like my spray bottle the best… I guess it’s just depending on what I’m making.. hugs 🤗, Michelle now back to your cool video
Fab! I really love the one with the 6 prongs wrapped around each end. I have a lovely faceted labradorite marquise cab that I’ve been wanting to try and that is perfect for it. Trust me to pick the hardest one to try… On the 2nd one if you left the gaps in the ends without the tabs would the stone still be secure? Just wondering if it is possible to leave the ends showing.
Can you ask about your gifted dropper? Would love to have something like it! Even an eye dropper can add too much flux sometimes. And forget about pepe tools dropper bottle, it pours out!
PepeTools, who has taken me on as an affiliate, sent me a couple of types to try. I will give them a go in some of the upcoming videos. Check out my new rolling mill in the latest video:). ua-cam.com/video/Vr3tAnvXhok/v-deo.htmlsi=GM-gA2-9wRcsl6dO
Hi Chad, great video as always. I wanted to ask a question about your torch. You mentioned that it is a Smith’s Oxy -Acetylene torch. I only see one knob on the torch to adjust the gas? Does it work on oxygen from the atmosphere? I would love to know which model it is as I am wanting to buy a new torch. Also, are you able to use it to melt silver for pouring? I have a propane torch that draws oxygen from the atmosphere, but it doesn’t get hot enough to melt 50 grams of silver in a crucible. I would so appreciate your advice. Thanks again for the great Chanel 😊
Hello Rick. It's Actually the Smith "Silversmith" model which is an Acetylene/air torch. The previous name for it was the Smith "Handi-heat" torch. It's not as hot as an Oxo-Acetylene torch, but plenty hot enough to melt 2 or 3 ounces of silver. Hope this helps:)

Thanks! The tabs are doing all the work of holding that stone in, so no:)

It looked like they ordered it from Amazon, based on the packaging! I works pretty well:)
Hello from puerto vallarta jalisco México. Nice work.
Thanks Cal_Mex! ¡Hola desde colorado! Han pasado muchos años desde que estuve en Puerto Vallarta :)
I’ve been using Handy Flux to protect the silver, but it is pretty thick and sometimes, the solder floats for awhile. What new flux are you trying?

@@chadssilversmithingyay, I’m purchasing this one tomorrow! I’m tired of all my soldering fails using butane.
@@chadssilversmithing thanks so much Chad. 🤞🏻

Thank you:)
Lovely settings. As an Australian, hearing you say “Sodder” instead of “SOLder” kinda drives me nuts
I kind of agree:). Some American English pronunciations are a little strange. Thanks for the nice comment!
