I do like the rotisserie dropping into the side. I have a little box I store my motor in with accessories. Concerning the lights I want a grill light that shows me the true color of what I am cooking. Done so many with a flashlight in my hand at night in winter. Found a good light that attaches to the handle and it makes the meat look like it would during daytime grilling.
Hey Trevor, thx for your honest review and passion on gas grills. All thumbs up! This year I'm planning to replace my standalone Weber BBQ with a fancy outdoor kitchen so I'm browsing through options. Honestly I'm kinda surprised how "cheap" (from a quality perspective) the current Weber portfolio looks like especially when you pay over 4k (in my country) for that. The grease trap in my 7 year old Weber is better designed than the one today - omg. So far I have looked on Bull Angus, Napoleon Prestige Pro 665, Broil King Imperial 590QS but my absolute favorite is the Otto Wilde G32 connected. Unfortunately they don't sell a dedicated built-in version so I have to immure "him" 😀 Cheers mate!
Glad our videos help! Be sure to check out our top 5 grills videos to help you choose the right bbq for your outdoor kitchen. Thanks for watching. CHEERS!
I've had the original Summit for 15 years now. I converted it to nat gas, replaced a few things here and there (burners/knob/flavorizer bars) and it is still the best gas grill I've ever had. 1000's of steaks, rotisserie chicken/turkey, smoked things....I will never replace it. The best part about Weber is that you can always get parts if you need them.
Hi there, thanks for the video. I'm a fan of Weber grill, I sold my last Summit model 4 years ago and bought a new Genesis S435. This Summit is better than the previous model but I rather buy the new Genesis to save money. There are better options at the 4k price range.
I remember 15 years ago or so I got a Weber Summit thinking it was the best grill on the market. Later learned of Lynx, Hestan etc. Now have my Hestan 42 and it's just such a difference. You can cook the same food on them but all those things add up. It's good to see the Summit improving but most of that is just catch up. Though it's interesting now only they and Hestan have that broiler style infrared burner which is a nice touch. It still seems hard to recommend the Summit vs Napoleon or even something like blaze or Coyote etc. Weber at the lower price points can offer some nice value, but really still disappointed what the Summit offers for it's price.
I prefer an 1800 degree infrared side burner like the Napoleon Prestige 500 model has. I love searing my ribeyes plus I can have the rotisserie going at the same time. The jet ignition on the Napoleon seems to be a better system than the Weber. Does that Weber even have a rear burner for the rotisserie ?
I had a grill with the crossover bar in back, I hated it, it makes the back run way hotter than the front. It also means that even if you have the left hand side turned off for example, the back will still have a burner running.
Disagree with the interior lighting placement, everything inside gets covered with grease and smoke by default. To me it doesn't look all that bright tbh, and I like having the option to remove mine as I don't do much nighttime grilling anyways. Without seeing this in person my biggest concern is that it looks like they cut corners on the stainless steel metal. Mine is built like a tank and a simple "knock test" confirms this, that looks like thin sheet metal at almost $1000-1500 more. I have the E-670 model w/6 burners and at least for now their site only has the 5 burner version (like the old E-470), and I bought mine back in 2010 and overall it's still in mint condition (because it's a Weber) for around $1850. I can't imagine this with pretty much the exact same tech and features being worth $2k more, but I digress.
I wonder when napoleon will update their grills since it has been like 5-6years since they’ve had an update. The grills are great but the appearance needs to be updated.
I’m glad you did this review, but I’m pretty sure this grill won’t match up well with the competition in the $4-5 k price range. My view on Weber is the sweet spot is the Genesis line, which offers decent quality grills at reasonable prices, and comes with Weber’s great service and aftermarket support. The Summit line just doesn’t offer the robust build quality you get from its competition - no cast burners, cheesy interior/exterior lighting, crappy side burners, flimsy panels, etc. Sure, Summit may be slightly cheaper than Blaze, etc. but at this price point what is an extra thousand bucks? Also, I can’t believe there is no sear burner. The broiler is cool, but you can fit like 2 steaks under it? I don’t want to finish steaks off two at a time; I can sear six over the sear zone on mine. I say all this as a Weber fan. I have a Summit E-670 with six main burners, sear, rotisserie burner and smoker burner (9 knobs!). It’s been a great, versatile grill, but it’s 10 years old and I will replace it soon, and it won’t be another Weber. There is just too much else out there once you get to this price point. I think Blaze Pro is where I am heading.
Blaze pro is a more solid choice for sure. Be sure to watch our newest video on their updated grill and also they are having amazing discounts right now! ua-cam.com/video/o-I3nQY0uM0/v-deo.html
Does it worth to upgrade from Summit v1? I just bought it with a big discount (I’m in Europe) and I’ve realize there’s this new model but it’s almost the double the price.. what do you recommend?
The burner that is in the back, is called a crossover burner. The flames cross over, helping the main burners ignite. I caught the joke about pine wood in your smoking box. LoL. That wouldnt be good.
I’m glad I didn’t wait for this Weber Summit last year as I went with Napoleon Prestige Pro 665 based on your review. I still think it beats out this summit based on first impressions.
I'm itching to buy a new grill as my Weber Genesis II is more than 5 years old now but looking at the new summit I really cannot justify the move. Seriously no sear zone? How is this an upgrade? It is nice to have a top broiler but I have a pizza oven and rather use that one for steaks. Also putting lights inside is not a good move. Have you seen the inside of a Weber grill after a couple of uses? They will instantly cover with a brown stain, no matter how nice their color is initially.
I’m with ya @celyda2. Pretty boy just wants to be on camera as much as possible showin off those white shoes. I’ll just got to Weber store and see for myself. It’ll be quicker!
Trevor - That was possibly the worst grill review I have ever seen you do. Were you day drinking? I think you should get familiar with the grill, get that drip tray installed correctly, and re-shoot this video. At least make it a point to emphasize that for the first time ever they changed from that awful enamel coated fire box to finally a cast aluminum one. I know you mentioned it in passing but it is a really big deal for Weber. Really sad no IR burner option. Way overpriced. Maybe I missed it but where was it built?
That’s the whole point of my videos, is they are candid, and we learn together on them. Quite frankly, insinuating day drinking because you didn’t like the video is insulting. Sorry it wasn’t your cup of tea…
@@embersliving Sorry, that was my attempt at humor. However, this was definitely not one of your better reviews IMHO. How can you say that you don't think the side burner can boil corn without trying it? I am not even a Weber fan boy as I own a Napoleon P500 RSIB that I fell in love with after one of your reviews!
That grease trap is wonky.. Who would ever design it like that? lol Bend it flat brother... How are you not super mad at that? Its about as dumb as it gets if it was on an angle like that.

Yeah the light is still pretty weak! Nice that sounds like a great attachment.

Yes I agree
This seems cheaply made for the price and compared to my 2008 Summit. do they at least still make them in the US?
I believe so. Its a pretty solid unit still imo!

Just the top burner
Man. I can't wait to see more videos like this. The New BRoil King grills look amazing this year
We have those coming

My Summit is 14 years old and I was thinking it may be time to replace it, but this new Weber Summit just looks cheap compared to the original Summit.
Its freaking huge too. You can always check out our napoleon videos. Thanks for watching!
Good review other than the cook on the steak, was excited for a summit redesign but kinda feels like meh. Years overdue and this is it
Yes I agree

Well not to mention the build quality isn’t what it used to be either
Thanks. After watching this review, it put a sour taste in my mouth for this Summit
It's still a great grill and has had some upgrades! thanks for watching! More Weber videos coming.
@@embersliving. What grill would you buy in this price range?

Will there be a new Weber Summit charcoal grill coming soon?
That im not sure about! They are relasing a smart gas version we are waiting for.

Our other grills this is not an issue
Why can't they put some real wheels under the grill? My patio is not perfectly smooth like your showroom floor.
Really not doing it for me, which is disappointing as I was hoping for it to at least catch up to the competition.
Yes I agree
I cook asparagus and heat chili on my side burner.
Nice
$4k?! I just got a Summit from the year 2000 for 100 bucks including brand new burners. Weber is out of pocket with this pricing.
Dude, get to the point already. Three minutes in and you haven't even started reviewing the grill. I'm out.

The only thing I use my side burner for is to light my charcoal chimney.
Ha true
Yeah, when I did that, the heat warped that little brass burner cap……
You've installed the grill pan wrong. It will be flat when installed properly.
Ah
What would be the best gas grill I can buy for about $2500
How big do you want it?
It's ridiculously overpriced for what you get especially compared to the Napoleon pro series love Webber, but that's ridiculous price
Yeah im sure it will eventually drop
I was under the impression that this grill had precise temperature control like a pellet grill. You didn't cover any of the smart features.
That’s a different model that is not out yet. However that review is coming soon
Thanks for clarifying

Napoleon needs a facelift( 5-6years on current platform) . Grills look a little outdated but the components are solid.
