SMB share not working here, all I get is a folder that has a IP address instead of my PC's name. it does not open that folder. I dont even get it asking for a password since I turned on file sharing on the network. Maybe the Linux thing just isnt for me.
You make it seem so easy, I'm having issues with my PC not seeing Fat32 if it's over 32gb, and then having "the file size is too large for the destination" when trying to put a rom on it
Having trouble with the opposite issue. Want to transfer files from external hard drive to the steam deck sd card. But it won’t let me write on it at all. There’s not even an option to paste.
Can I just get the ROMS without using a PC or USB. Can I use the steamdeck to install the roms using the browser, could you point me to a video on how if so?
type "your account info" on your searchbar on your pc. go there and you can check the user login your pc is using and reset passwords etc. should be wanting this stuff to login so use that email and password
I have an emulator handheld with 64gb of games. Can I just transfer the roms from that handheld into a steam deck? Following steps on emudeck and have the emulators installed. I’m just currently downloading roms. But I’m guessing I can just copy the roms from my rgxx plus right?
@@ARG I have a Seagate 8TB storage/USB C hub, Can I use that? Im trying to follow the steps with that, and the folders dont show on the Steam Deck from Network, then SMB
Will there be a problem with the format of usb key by switching from linux to windows ? because my micro sd card inside of my steamdeck just works perfectly fine but when I plug it into my pc it can't recognize it
do you mind explaining a bit? do you use specific plug ins that allows you to manage and drop roms into the steam deck from there or is there something in decky loader already to perform this ?
Is your network profile set to public or private ? It needs to be private if it’s a home network, if you google how to change windows network to private you should find how to do it.
@@ARG I was able to do this with my wifi on my laptop but now im stuck on a screen on my steam deck saying "Please enter authentication infromation for (name of my laptop)" With a user name and password but i have no clue whatusername or password it is asking for since i dont ever remember setting up one. Help? 😁
Problem I'm having with some of my roms is that they wont transfer. There's a lock on the files and says "unable to transfer" But I've used them before successfully on other computer platforms. Only the steam deck has issue with them and only certain ones (NES most SNES,GBA,GENESIS,GBC)
Emudeck seems to have an option to transfer the installation along with every game you currently have into the sd card. I'm currently doing so, and it's about 151gb to transfer over. I'll let you all know how long that takes. Lol
Also true but they cost way more and I take it your saying that as they run on windows so you could just install windows on the steam deck in that case.
@ARG like you say, True, but you get what you pay for. The onexplayer has more power, bigger storage, and a bigger screen and especially with the onexplayer 2 coming out.
@@ny204193d yeah 100% that is always true you do get what you pay for and another one is you buy cheap you buy twice, but still you can’t ignore the value of the steam deck.
its not showing my folder in steam deck at all when I press network.
Nice guide i get steam deck in a couple of days and plan to play old retro games on it
Same situation thanks alot.
That folder sharing was a neat trick! Going to use it from now on.
Oh, wow. I did not think to just set up a network folder, that will be so much easier to do. Great video
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the walk through
I'm trying network folder. But it keeps asking for the login/password, even if I turn that off password protected sharing
Enter in the username and password you use to get into your PC (User Account)
it asks for a password and username on network folder and I have tried all the logins I can think of including my microsoft one. Any help?
I have the same issue; did you end up finding a solution?
@@beeantsy6480 do you have multiple accounts on your PC? I had the same issue, but it was my microsoft email and password used to login to my PC.

I dont really think that guy at the thumbnail will be really happy that he could transfer his roms from his PC to his Steam deck lmao

It would of been helpful if you showed how to format everything

what can i do if no removable storage devices are popping up on my steam deck. theyre formatted to exFAT. Work fine on my pc.
Can I just get the ROMS without using a PC or USB. Can I use the steamdeck to install the roms using the browser, could you point me to a video on how if so?
If your emu deck storage is set to internal, I believe.
Well, yeah, just... download the ROMs
You can just use syncthing for network transfers over your wifi.
It's asking for a username and password when I try to access my drive. Does anyone have a solution?
same. looking for solutions
type "your account info" on your searchbar on your pc. go there and you can check the user login your pc is using and reset passwords etc. should be wanting this stuff to login so use that email and password
you can change or setup a password in sign-in options here

Yeah emudeck supports most if not all file extensions for roms.
Can't I just use my cellphone as the go between? Steam deck and my laptop both read the cell phone
Do you need a usb stick to do it ?
no if you watch the video it explains you can setup a network share on windows pc and the deck can access it.
@@ARG I have a Seagate 8TB storage/USB C hub, Can I use that? Im trying to follow the steps with that, and the folders dont show on the Steam Deck from Network, then SMB
Does formatting your SSD to flat 32 wipe the memory on that SSD?
Yes it will

Steam deck should read exfat without issue and of course so will windows so use that.
can this be done with a Mac OS? i don't have a window PC
Yeah but never tried it.
I do have a mac book so maybe I try this out 🤔
It must be at the same wifi connection?
just needs to be connected to the same router as my pc in wired and steam deck wireless via wifi.
Question where to go to find all roms for download
installe decky loader and add pc connection trough usb plugin
do you mind explaining a bit? do you use specific plug ins that allows you to manage and drop roms into the steam deck from there or is there something in decky loader already to perform this ?
Second method didn’t work
Good stuff, no need to drive and pick up sd card from the store.
Hey, followed the video but when searching the SMB folder on my steam deck it shows that nothing is found. Any ideas why?

Make sure you have the pc set to discoverable.

How do you do that?

Terminator 2 still the best action movie
SkyNet=Judgement Day!
Yeah great films 🍿
When i connect to the shared folder it askes for a username and password
Me too. Have you figured what to do yet?
Can you just download the files directly from desktop mode ?
Yeah of course if you have enough free space.
I dont know how to get kingdom hearts 3 on the steam deck because its a ps4 game
Can't you just transfer everything straight to the SD card?

very informative but i wish you'd dial down the lighting in the back. very distracting.

Easiest way would be trade in your steamdeck for a onexplayer.
