He is still stuck on the old school way of thinking. Have many superficial moments with his courtesean. His nephew woke up and realized he has been in love with GIgi forever.

This almost throw-away song is pivotal to an understanding of the movie. Maurice wants to convince Louis Jourdan that Gigi should be nothing more than a courtesan. And yet this song speaks to the need for true love of a soul-mate... And in the end, Louis Jourdan sees Gigi as a soul mate, something more than a courtesan. A moving song, a moving moment, from a great movie.

He looks back on their time with tenderness, and she affectionately teases him before making it clear she feels the same way. Might they fall in love again? Probably not, but anything is possible. And they both play it so well, they're really believable as former lovers who may not be IN love anymore but certainly have a different love for each other now.

I like this for its general insights into the sexes. Women put up with all kinds of stories, inaccuracies, blunders and foolishness on the part of their husbands, spouses, lovers. Yet how eagerly a man will listen to a generic description of youth, vitality, and charm and immediately think she has recalled him perfectly. It's a lovely little interlude that demonstrates it's not usually women who are wooed by flattery in the face of facts, but men.

This was probably my favorite song when I was a kid watching this for the first time. I understood it because, I would listen to my grandparents talk about when they were young, and sometimes they would stop and correct themselves.
Listening to it made we wonder what I would be like at that age.

This one scene I predict humans a millennium from now will still be studying and adoring - this little slice of recent pop culture we grew up with. Soupy yet cherished on screen moment I still love it to this day. Living life while watching it slip away … ah what it is to be human …

Loved GiGi as a young girl. Lucky to have been exposed to it. Loved the fashion and the music and the romance. I searched for this and was laughing to myself bc my beaux of a few years we had a similar conversation recently 😂 about the color of my shirt the day we met 😂 (it was GREEN! Not whatever he misremembered it was, lol) Funny How women will remember little details like that men forget. I wonder why that is. We are just wired differently 😜💕✌️🧜‍♀️🌊
