You can also roll with /r {4d6kh3, 4d6kh3, 4d6kh3, 4d6kh3, 4d6kh3} and it will roll all 5; it will show a combined total in chat but you click on it and it will drop down and show the individual rolls. Also if you roll ability scores before you do species, background, class; it will then auto apply the ability score improvements. If you roll scores after you are manually overriding the improvements unfortunately. Figured both of these things out yesterday
I have found it better to do character creation with Foundry in this order: Class, Abilities, Species, Race, Spells, Equipment. I like to do abilities 2nd because then when doing background the ability scores given by the background adds to this. Otherwise when you set your abilities you have to remember the background additions.
Yeah, I'd never do character creation in this order. It seems... strange. I tend to jump around a bit, but will often start with a concept/background, class, race/species, equipment.... then remember I forgot to add spells..
Great Job as always sir and i thank you for always warning other uses about upgrading it will be months before all the mods get caught up to the new system.
Should probably show how it works for people playing the SRD in DnD4.0. But you can also add to the title that this is only for people that have bought Players Handbook 2024 from foundry but nowhere else.
Oh no, you said the magic words. "I don't use alignment, I think it's a silly concept." - So, as a card carrying nerd, and a respecter of view points, I will say it's generally a good idea to make sure your players aren't going to join your heroic adventurer you have planned as a bunch of murder hobos looking to do terrible things to the family being attacked by goblins if that's not the kind of game you want to play. So- Alignment, seems like a decent way of saying "Hey now, you can do whatever you want, but, I wanna know what you generally plan to have your characters act like." Then, we take into account the world we are generally playing in. Well most of the D&D official worlds are part of a cosmology that has a balance of worlds between Law, Chaos, good and Evil. Those in the prime are more free to choose who or what they are going to be, but those from certain planes are influenced by the world into the alignment of the world. That's a story thing. If you play in those worlds I think it's a relatively important bit of lore to understand how Devils and Demons are both Fiends, and why they hate each other so much! It's all about alignment. You wanna play in a custom world where alignment doesn't matter- cool! You also let your players pick the damage types for their evil/good based spells! Nice bonus for casting aside alignment. As an avid fan of the lore and world of Faerun, I shall use Alignment in the minor use cases it comes up in. :D
Just to clarify, I don't use Alignment for PCs. Historically it was ridiculously restrictive - classes locked to particular alignments and all. Can't be a Good druid? Paladins locked to LG? I always have the conversation with the player about expectations and why murder hobos is not a good route, etc. Yes, they perform good acts, and evil acts, but on the whole, I expect them to play to their character, with the own motivations and "code" whatever that may be. And I absolutely expect my clerics to confirm to the ideology of their chosen gods. Monster alignments are far more useful for spell and damage types, and basic RP pointers.
@@clay_golem Weird, thought I replied to this - Maybe my example was too much- so let's go with a short reply - Alignment isn't a restriction anymore, it's just another tool for players and DMs to use, or not use- like most tools! That's all I was getting at ^_^ (Wish I could keep things that short more often)
No worries buddy. As you say, it's just a tool, like any other "rule". Just one I don't bother using for players. (And I had a reply I did yesterday that "vanished" so it may not be you going crazy...)
Languages other than English are available, and generally through a specific Add On Module. You can find a list here: foundryvtt.com/packages/tag/translation?page=1 What language were you after? I should probably do a video on this to help people get their translations working as soon as possible!
I think this will help: github.com/Memorize-Remix/fvtt_mod_chn You can use the Add Module function and put this link in to the json box: github.com/13996090016/fvtt_mod_chn/releases/latest/download/module.json I hope that helps! Please let me know if you are successful :)

Yeah, the PHB way isn't actually great for a few reasons. But that not applying your Species bonus is a bit of a whoopse. I suspect it'll get fixed.

Can play dnd 2024 with 4.0 ?? Thanks for videos.
Certainly can, but obviously there's very little in the way of Mods at this point. So yes, but most people won't because the Mods add no much extra.
