Yes….It was John, he was standing up, wearing a red velvet jacket and playing a huge base. You really should react to Freddie singing this song live on stage in Budapest…..no orchestra or choir…..just Freddie and the band.
The heart breaking ballad from 1986 Highlander movie. Brian explained: We (the band) went to see the 20 minutes cut from the raw movie and it included the scene where Highlander's wife , to whom he was deeply in love with, got old and is dying in his arms 😢... That scene opened a floodgate for me. I was dealing with a lot in my life back then (the immanent lose of my father, who was diagnosed with lung cancer and he died next year, in June 1987, the troubles in my marriage....). Our manager was driving me home and I suddenly began humming the song to my tape recorder... 😮 The song was almost complete when we got to my home and he was stunned. He asked me: "Where did that came from?" and I answered: "I really don't know. I just began hearing it in my head..." 😮
Brian May wrote this one!! its truly a beautiful song. John was playing the stand up bass which he went out and bought for this song/video. He had his hair slicked back in this one lol..so he had hair. thanks for the lovely reaction!
This is a Queen classic. It fits so well with the movie and both Freddie and Brian sing it beautifully. Love that you did a reaction to this one! It may not live forever (who wants that?) but let's hope that CoachCastTV has a lot more time left to give us awesome reactions.
Oh, my goodness, I had to anxiously wait to get home after work to see this video reaction Coach and Mrs. Coach. Yes, it was Brian May who wrote this song, I understand Brian was going through a rough patch in his personal life at the time he was writing this song, he wrote a damn good song too, very emotional for many reasons. It was so beautiful to hear this song again. Yes, that was John Deacon who was playing that double bass or upright bass (different name, same instrument) for the video, though it wasn't played for the recording of the song. I enjoyed watching this reaction. Thank you for reacting to it! Peace. ☮
Those Queen lads just 'Highlander"-ed all over the place! Great movie themes. I like how Brian starts here. He won't though, when they perform it live in the "86 Magic Tour" concerts. Different vibe when Live. Those are soooooo dramatic. It stops being a soft ballad in concert after the very opening. I recommend any of them. Altho, I do like the Budapest one myself. Powerful singer - great band. and Yes, Brian wrote this one.
The thing you miss out on hearing the official single release is that it fades out at the end, whilst the album version is longer & has a better end to the song. And yes definitely John was there.
Highlander… 😢 He is immortal but he thinks “why living forever” when every person you love eventually dies and you are living your immortality all alone. So heartbreaking.
Thank you! I love this song, and this version with the organ, orchestra and choirboys! John taught himself to play the double bass for this video. I still prefer the live performances though... as with the vast majority of Queen songs.
The band went to watch a scene from the movie and Brian wrote this while driving home in the back seat of his car. You need to watch the live performance in Budapest. A bit different and Freddie is amazing. John was playing the double bass. He was in the red jacket. Roger was a bit hammered while filming this video lol.
I have to CORRECT myself, I should’ve said in my other comment: COACH WINS THE AWARD FOR BEING THE ONE-AND-ONLY REACTOR TO EVER NOTICE JOHN IN THIS VIDEO🤩 (NOT exaggerating)😆
it's ok Mr. Coach if that's not the kind of music you really want. I'm still thanking you because you appreciated and saw their talent. It's strange because Brian sings first until Freddie sings on the high notes. It's so nice to see you and Mrs. Coach very attentive listening to the song and when you nod and your facial reaction changes when Freddie's tone is high. However, I know you will agree when I say that Queen doesn't just focus on one genre, they are unpredictable and each one of them has a real extra ordinary talent.
Indeed, they are unpredictable to say the least. We never know what to expect with every song. We absolutely do appreciate their talent and all the hard work that goes into their art. Thanks for the kind comment!
Roger is using kettle drums (timpani) and John is playing a double bass (UK) or stand up bass (US). Good reaction as usual. I love that Coach gives a truthful opinion rather than saying what he thinks his listeners wants to hear. Everyone has their own preferences and that’s alright. 😊
Thanks! We are so glad that Queen has a lot of very grounded fans who understand not everyone likes everything. We always want to be honest, but still respect the awesome talent.
a Cello is about half the size. It is called an Upright Bass. But it was just used for the visuals in video, as was the outlandish drum set. What you hear is just john on electric bass, and roger on his standard drum kit.

Lol Mr coach I love how you love rock and roll I do too but it's so beautiful and I got into other kinds of music too like country etc but Queen is my favorite by far but keep rocking thank you for your reaction 👑
This is one of Brian's best compositions and guitar solos. I love how they shared the vocals. Roger was drunk while filming the video. The kids were just for the video, they didn't sing on the record.
Yes, Brian wrote this for the Highlander Soundtrack. Beautiful song and video.. Thank you. Yes, it was John on the upright bass, Celo is smaller and played seated, resting between the knees, not standing. Although I have heard (but never confirmed) that John didn't actually play the bass on the recorded version of this song although he certainly could have because he had played it on other Queen songs. The story goes that while recording a song Brian was teasing John telling him that he needed him to play a standing bass on that particular song. John had never played that instrument but went out and bought one and taught himself to play it. Three days later John showed up in the studio to record his part on that upright bass. At that point, Brian told him he was just joking, he really didn't expect John to play it but he did lay the tracks and they were included on the studio version. It might have been the studio version of Love Of My Life, I can't recall, I think there are a couple of songs where the upright bass was included. John even mastered it with a bow and not just fingers. Someone here will know and confirm or deny my story I am sure, but it is a fun story be it fact or lore.
I think all that happened when they were recording a song '39 ... (Coach should have it on his playlist for ages... 😅) Brian was joking when he told John that he needed him to play double bass on the song, but couple of days later he found John with the instrument that he learned to play ... 😮 Yes, at this video for WWTLF John mimed playing the double bass... For the studio version of Love Of My Life Brian learned to play the real harp... 😮 Freddie joked that he will force Bri to play it until his fingers drop off 😅 and poor Brian said that it was a painstaking task. He spent most of the time tuning the damn harp and he managed to play the part chord by chord ... 😮 Our sweet determined talented boys... 👑👑👑👑
@@CoachCastTV oh, I just remembered another Queen song you and Mrs Coach will enjoy: "Seaside Rendezvous" (A Night At The Opera 30th anniversary, 2005) It's a funny song, with also funny black&white film, where Freddie and Roger are imitating woodwind and brass instrument sounds with their mouths. 😲 Freddie even "threatened" Roger that he would have to learn step dance 🤔🙃😅 for it, but they found easier solution... 😁 (tapping with timbals on their fingers to the mixing desk) I assume that Freddie received his own famous answer from Roger suggesting the step dance "idea": Fredddd, don't be ridiculous!!! 🤣
Coach, you need to watch Highlander! The part of the movie where this song plays is heartbreaking, but beautiful!! You'll really understand this song much better once you see exactly what it is written for. I have a version of this song where dialog from the movie is included ... it's truly a magnificent song!!!
I am not sure but i think this fantastic song from 1986 was the first cross between classic and rock. Cant remeber an earlier by someone....only later symphonic and metall by metallica in 1998 or 1999. Anorher awesome song by queen you could react to: ' Don't try so hard' from the innuendo album 1991. I think misses coach will like it and mr. Coach maybe a bit😉
Great reaction as always but you should have done the LIVE version as its mind blowing, either at Wembley 1986 of Budapest 1986, please do. Yes Brian wrote this song.
Such a beautiful song!!! One of my favourites from Queen. Your Queen reactions are always golden❤️ You guys have to check out Headlong From Queen. More a rock and roll SongXxx love as always
Don't forget that this was a commissioned piece. It was written to fit into the movie at specific points. This was Queen's version as their own single. But my gosh, can you even think of a more moving, dramatic piece of music? I suggest that you check out the live version of this from Wembley 1986. It's heartbreaking for me, since by that point Freddie probably had a very good idea that he had AIDS. Anyway, it goes way beyond ballad, to anthem and then some. I love this song.
Hi Coach and Mrs Coach. You really need to watch the film Highlander. When this song features in the film you will understand why he asks the question "Who Wants To Live Forever." Another great reaction. I'm sure you hear this a lot but, more Queen please.
Freddie and the boys could play the alphabet and i would love it. I am a rocker at heart but if a song is good of any genre I will stick it on my playlist.
A great reaction as always guys to a truly beautiful song. Coach, I know you like Roger's voice, so suggest that you react to "Fight from the Inside" which is a track from Queen's "News of the World" album that Roger sings lead on. I think you will enjoy that one.
If you have tissues handy you should watch the video for "No One But You". They originally wrote it with the intention of it being a tribute to Princess Diana but changed it to fit Freddie's life when they lost him. You can see the pain on John's face throughout the song.
Mrs.Couch it was John 😉 Couch if he wasn't he is now 😂 You should check this one also live from Wembley it's incredible as well. Always a huge thank you I love your Queen reaction videos. 🤗💖✌️
Please let Mrs. Coach listen to "Heaven for Everyone" , originally done by The Cross, Roger Taylor's band and Sang by Roger or the Queen version sang by Freddie.
One trivia from filming the video: Roger appeared fairly drunk 😅 and in a later interview he commented: "Geez, that washed denim I was wearing, it's really appalling.😮😅 I loved the song but filming the video took ages and I hated that." 😂 Poor Rog, he really looks lost 😂
@@CoachCastTVhaha, you should have chosen the live version. 😅 Budapest 1986 was great! In this video John was playing double bass, not the cello. (Cello is a smaller instrument and you play it sitting down.) Also Freddie appeared having a moustache for the last time ...
You honestly need to watch the Live at Wembley version.....BUT it has to be the Friday night, not the more seen Saturday night.... Freddie takes it to another level. One of his greatest live performances. ua-cam.com/video/GsnBLaRQOQM/v-deo.htmlsi=zBPXi4yGEzsM8QIu
It’s AMAZING to me that not a single reactor ever notices that John is right there playing the string bass/cello.😂🤣 (So, DON’T feel bad for not noticing.) The story I’ve read (if true; it probably is): Freddie said something to John (maybe jokingly) about wanting him to learn how to play the string bass/cello… so John went home and - over a weekend - learned how to play it.😵💫😳
@@CoachCastTV 😄That’s why some of us call the four of them the Big Bang Theory of the music world.😛 Brian = Sheldon Freddie = Raj Roger = Leonard John = Howard Mary Austin = Penny Although… We also call them The Golden Girls, because of their drag get-ups in “I Want To Break Free” Brian = Dorothy Freddie = Blanche Roger = Rose John = Sophia
I told you that she would strike back with ballads lol Hey, Mr. Coach, you were talking about some Roger's songs, I missed to mention a little gem from the first album, song called Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll, written and sung by Roger. It's a short song, but very unique in Queen's catalogue (btw, Mrs. Coach will hate it lol).
Just throwing it out there for ya if you're not hip to it yet my friends. There's a pretty cool cover version Marc Martel does of "Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen" in an intimate setting with Marc, a Mic & a piano. Just saying... +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friends+ 🤘😜🤘

Such a beautiful ballad that just gives chills! Dr. Sir Brian's shared vocals with Freddie is so hauntingly beautiful, I love it! Brian and Roger did an interesting audio commentary on this. ua-cam.com/video/L_fjQglwYQk/v-deo.html
Great reaction as always. I personally think you should've reacted to their version from "Live at Wembley" the Saturday concert. It may have been a bit more Coach's speed, although still a ballad. But all the other band members got to shine - Especially Roger, and the atmosphere from the audience gives a different kind of power to the song than in the studio version. Also Freddie talks a bit in the beginning, and it really puts things into perspective, if you think about the fact that it was their last tour, and he was diagnosed with AIDS the following year. I think you should watch it, be it in a reaction or not. This is the Saturday concert (they played Friday too, but I prefer this one): ua-cam.com/video/cgUFr-l3MiU/v-deo.htmlsi=pLH3_q6fvhRJQxO9
Hi folks! That's some double standard you've got going there, Coach, ballad-wise. Like it or no, "The Idol" IS a ballad, and "Forever Free', too. Technically, any song that tells a story is a ballad, so, lighten up before you miss something wonderful. Anyhoo, the Doc did write this, in ten minutes in the back of a cab, by the way. That's the thing you so when you're a genius. For me, the soundtrack was way better than the movie. John was wearing the red jacket, so he was there. And that "always right" thing? A hoot!! Love you guys!
Hey Coach! Might I suggest a song to react to to cleanse your palette after having to endure a ballad? Perhaps try "Awakening" by Unleash the Archers. The studio take version is probably right up your alley.
This song, although good is not one of my favourites. In the Highlander movie, Freddie sings the first verse. Coach, you may like the live version from Wembley 1986 a little bit better as it has a bit more guitar fill from Brian The next song from the Highlander soundtrack you should listen to is A Kind Of Magic official music video. It is a brilliant music video, and has a bit more of an upbeat tempo, which I hope Coach would appreciate.
Please react to this queen song. Its the last song freddie ever sang on this planet, recorded in may 1991. He was so weak couldnt stand or walk. He drank some wodka shots and recorded each line three times. So that was it. As it came to the 3rd verse freddie wasnt well and said to brian: i am not well now, i will come back and finish it off. He never came back and so brian sung the 3rd verse ua-cam.com/video/_CHxldQhQCA/v-deo.htmlsi=4R0a_yCIp8cs1Vq7
At the time Queen made songs for Highlander movie Freddie didn't know he was HIV positive and having AIDS (yet) but yes, although it is Brian who wrote the song inspired by a sad scene from the movie, as we are hearing this song now it is heartbreaking because of what suffering Freddie had to go through and how we lost him 5 years later ... 😢💔
Hi.. if you like to see some real artistic videos from Queen, i suggest you 'It's a Hard Life' 1984, and 'I'm going slightly mad' 1991.. those are so beautiful. The songs too. Very different one each other but both based on a 'first person' point of view of Freddie.. ironically, the first one is quite serious while the second one have inside a real BIG 'noir humor' witch make that song really funny to hear..
Goosebumps,chills and tears, beautiful Freddie,Brian, John and Roger at their absolute best.

The live version at Budapest 1986 is different with just the band but beautiful and powerful.
Sensational once more listening to both Brian May & Freddie sing, & the rest of the band, just incredible with the orchestra too, brilliant!
One of Brians finest songs he ever composed. Brian dared John to play a double bass. this is a power ballad of the highest level.

Sir Brian may wrote the song
Please please please, may I have some mother love.
Please let Mrs. Coach listen to "Heaven for Everyone" , originally done by The Cross, Roger Taylor's band and Sang by Roger or the Queen version sang by Freddie.
The song I am going out to.......
Sorry Mrs. Coach, not a Cello. It’s a Double Bass! 😊😊
❤
One trivia from filming the video:
Roger appeared fairly drunk 😅 and in a later interview he commented: "Geez, that
washed denim I was wearing, it's really appalling.😮😅
I loved the song but filming the video took ages and I hated that." 😂
Poor Rog, he really looks lost 😂
Haha, sort of like Coach when a ballad plays.
@@CoachCastTVhaha, you should have chosen the live version. 😅 Budapest 1986 was great!
In this video John was playing double bass, not the cello. (Cello is a smaller instrument and you play it sitting down.)
Also Freddie appeared having a moustache for the last time ...
John's played the double bass. Thank you, that you battled with another ballade. 🤭
😅 Took one for the team.
Watch it live in Budapest amazing.
wow
Reaction Marc Martel who wants to live forever pliss 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
It’s AMAZING to me that not a single reactor ever notices that John is right there playing the string bass/cello.😂🤣 (So, DON’T feel bad for not noticing.)
The story I’ve read (if true; it probably is): Freddie said something to John (maybe jokingly) about wanting him to learn how to play the string bass/cello… so John went home and - over a weekend - learned how to play it.😵💫😳
That's incredible to learn something that fast. These guys are insanely talented.
@@CoachCastTV 😄That’s why some of us call the four of them the Big Bang Theory of the music world.😛
Brian = Sheldon
Freddie = Raj
Roger = Leonard
John = Howard
Mary Austin = Penny
Although…
We also call them The Golden Girls, because of their drag get-ups in “I Want To Break Free”
Brian = Dorothy
Freddie = Blanche
Roger = Rose
John = Sophia
@@marciebulsaraorcutt 🤣
I told you that she would strike back with ballads lol
Hey, Mr. Coach, you were talking about some Roger's songs, I missed to mention a little gem from the first album, song called Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll, written and sung by Roger. It's a short song, but very unique in Queen's catalogue (btw, Mrs. Coach will hate it lol).
LOL...that's great info! Thank you!
Hello Mr & Mrs Coach. This is not one of my favourite Queen songs. But thanks for another great reaction video from you both
Thanks for watching!
John was playing the double bass
Thanks!
This song is often played at funerals.
@@chicochi3 In advance of my cremation ceremony, I have already put the last chorus on a loop so that I know for sure that after 39 minutes everyone will run out of the room crying. 😆 Just kidding 🤣
Reaction Queen who wants to live forever live 1986 4k pliss 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Sie sollten sich von Queen: Headlong, Skandal & Miracle anhören!
This is the Saturday concert (they played Friday too, but I prefer this one):

We will keep in mind for a possible future reaction. Thank you!
@@CoachCastTV sounds good :) And thank you for the great content.
Please react to the live version at Wembley or Hungary. I think the live version was even better!
LOL, thanks. It's the slow tempo Coach normally cannot deal with...just not my style.
Hey Coach! Might I suggest a song to react to to cleanse your palette after having to endure a ballad? Perhaps try "Awakening" by Unleash the Archers. The studio take version is probably right up your alley.
😁 Thanks very much!
Not a chelo, it’s an old fashioned upright base.
you should react to George Michael and queen doing somebody to love at the Freddy Mercury tribute concert
It's a chello, Coach! 😅
This song, although good is not one of my favourites.
In the Highlander movie, Freddie sings the first verse.
Coach, you may like the live version from Wembley 1986 a little bit better as it has a bit more guitar fill from Brian
The next song from the Highlander soundtrack you should listen to is A Kind Of Magic official music video. It is a brilliant music video, and has a bit more of an upbeat tempo, which I hope Coach would appreciate.
Thanks for that info!
He never came back and so brian sung the 3rd verse

We've noted that one for a future reaction.
Budapest much better. ❤❤❤
Freddie have AIDS, and he have no Time,this Song is his LIfe,with Pain and Love.....he was a Genius😪😪😪😪
@@iris67si Thanks Iam 65 and this was my Music....we missed him
@@circemuller1933it was (and still is) my music too and I miss Freddie dearly too.
Hi.. if you like to see some real artistic videos from Queen, i suggest you 'It's a Hard Life' 1984, and 'I'm going slightly mad' 1991.. those are so beautiful. The songs too. Very different one each other but both based on a 'first person' point of view of Freddie.. ironically, the first one is quite serious while the second one have inside a real BIG 'noir humor' witch make that song really funny to hear..
We actually did the second one already. 😀
@@CoachCastTV oh.. i have to check than.. sorry😅
