My favourite Queen song ,which comes from Highlander,a very cool movie. The song with the scenes from the movie is totally heartbreaking,as he never ages but his wife does. It's also ironically a tribute to Freddie Mercury's tragic end.
@@barbsaracini7866They do get mixed up sometimes, it's an easy mistake to make. Easy way to distinguish them is size. Cellos are played from a sitting position, double bass from standing because they're huge! I think using a bow throws people too as you more often see a double bass played by string plucking. Apparently plucking is used for rock and blues whereas the bow is more common in orchestral settings. Crazy amount of commitment these guys had for their music though. If you have never seen Highlander you have got to check it out... This is not the only Queen song in the movie. A quick fact Queen sold more albums than anybody and the had a song in the top ten every week somewhere in the world for 20 years BUT they never won a Grammy.
This is from the movie Highlander. It's about an immortal man and how all his loves die. Yall should do White Queen live at Hammersmith it's mind blowing. That was John on the stand up bass.
Also if I may to get more context on how this affected us personally and it was because this is the soundtrack to a sad love and warrior film called Highlander it’s an immortal man living in our world he cannot die unless in combat with the few other immortals where his or the opponents head rolls from the neck. So he never ages he loved her…! You get why it’s fire when you see the love lost I am crying 38 year old Man. You can see in the comments of those talking about their loved ones. It is this song for every man who truly meant loving a person. So you see the question is who would want to live forever cos you’ll be very lonely one day and love less! 😢
You must check out Barcelona- the operatic album Freddie wrote to sing with Spanish opera singer the great Montserrat Caballe in the late ‘80’s. Freddie sings in Spanish and Japanese along with the Queen’s English-- powerful-extraordinary . Please check it out. In fact the song on the album- Barcelona was the theme song a year after Freddie passed in the Olympics 1992 in Spain-
No song will ever be able to capture the emotions or feelings of a fictional character from a film that breaks our emotions to tears like Queen did, PURE MASTERS, RIP Freddie.
Sorry, by the way I'm also a 70 year old southern woman. That was what I meant when I said I'm glad this younger generations get to hear music that I loved when I was younger. Sending much love and hope that you all stay on the are keep on keepin on.❤❤❤❤
In my 50’s in the UK and been sat worrying that the younger folks were going to miss all our outstanding music and it would all be lost. These reaction videos give me hope 😊❤
I second that (Show Must Go On) - devastating vocals - important to hear it knowing the context of how it was written (mainly by Brian May) - during Freddie's illlness, the band knowing what was going to happen, Freddie knowing . . . it's an allegory for both the band and the life we all fight to live. Life is the show that must go on. And it can be a wicked pain in the ass. These guys asked for a list - Queen's catalogue is massive. Of the better-known songs I'd say Under Pressure (that's a co-write with David Bowie, live or studio both excel) and Innuendo (no live performance for obvious reasons), both songs as timely now as they were then. More timely and relevant, if anything. If they haven't done those already. I'd love to see someone react to Sheer Heart Attack 1979 Hammersmith Odeon. No one ever does that one. Best excursion into Queen madness ever. If you have high blood pressure already Do Not Watch 😁. It's wonderful. Melancholy Blues, March of the Black Queen . . . MotBQ could never be performed live except using small snippets - that was all pre-autotune pre-computer, tape overdubs till the tapes ran clear. The studio craftsmanship precursor to Bohemian Rhapsody.
@@ZENOBlAmusic for example? The only songs where his vocals are better (more demanding also ) are the Hitman and gimme the prize ,maybe also some songs of his opera album
John is playing the double bass, he has the red jacket. Just a fun fact: he learned to play that instrument when Brian told him that he wanted the sound of a double bass in his new song called '39, so John went home with the instrument and he learned to play it in two days, then he came to the studio and showed him his part. Because of that, I recommend that song, '39 from "A Night At The Opera" album by 1975.
Sharon,he probably knew something as he had been tested quietly in Germany and although those tests were primitive,he had a idea.Brian wrote it,but yes it's ironic. The last two records were filled with hints that the end was near.
There are 6 songs written for the Highlander movie. Freddie wrote Princes of the Universe Roger was inspired by one line and wrote A Kind of Magic, sung beautifully 1986 at Wembley for their tour of the same name, John wrote a beautiful love song: One Year of Love, and Brian wrote a piece for the villan of the movie called Gimme the Prize which Freddie said was very difficult for him to sing in this dark heavy register. Roger finished it up with Don't Lose Your Head referring to the immortals who battle each other as there can be only one, and the only way to destroy an immortal is by decapitation. A rather brutal film and a tv series followed, but the music is excellent and so are the videos that accompany each song
Shout out to the rockier, original version of "A Kind Of Magic" you can really only find during the end credits of Highlander (it's also on the Live at Wembley DVD).
Highlander is one of my Favourite Movies. The scene where this song plays is heartbreaking. As goofy as the film can be, at a young age, it gave me an understanding of how much of a curse immortality would actually be. Which has stuck with me my whole life.
The funny part of this album is when I originally got it on cassette, the first side was all the music to the movie "Iron Eagles" and side B was all the music to "Highlander; it was a double win and I had no idea initially.
Great reaction! Especially love that you appreciate Freddie’s incomparable voice!! Please consider “Time” ( the vocal and piano only version) and “In My Defense” both by Freddie for the musical Time in 1986; Barcelona, How Can I Go On, The Golden Boy - all duets with Montserrat Caballe. For more Queen…. Another One Bites The Dust official video, Save Me live Montreal, Love of My Life live Montreal or Wembley, Tie Your Mother Down live Montreal and of course LIVE AID!!!
I know and love this song since I was a teenager, but when my father, mother, older brother, sister and friends passed away one by one in the past few years, this song really touches my emotions.
The movie Highlander (1986) is one of my favourite movies, it stars French -American actor Christopher lambert as the main character, it also has Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown as the villian, a bit gory but certainly a film to watch, and with QUEENS soundtrack as they said it's a kind of magic. I I haven't heared this track for some time, but seeing Brian take the lead on vocals at first was so unusual, but when Freddie came in it gave me goosebumps, and with the orchestra it is epic, this is one of my all time favourite QUEEN songs, its a BANGER ! 🇬🇧👍
Science has officially confirmed what fans already knew about FREDDIE'S VOICE : he had an unequivocally great singing voice. Classical opera singer has a vibrato in the range of 5,4 -6,9 Hz, but Mercury's vibrato moved at whopping 7,04 Hz Read the full story ( published in Logopedicks Phoniatrics Vocology ) you'll find in this article a lot of other interesting info about his voice. btw Freddie had 4 octave range react to Fat bottomed girls at Milton Keynes Bowl 82
I think watching the official videos are great and I enjoy them but watching them live takes it to a completely different level. I've been listening to Queen since 1974 and you know what? Their music still gives me the chills, how fortunate I am to live in Freddie's lifetime. John Deacon was in this video he played the upright bass.
@@chrissielord434 I was never lucky enough to see Freddie in person and honestly it's one of my biggest regrets. I finally did get to see Queen with Adam Lambert for my granddaughters birthday a few years ago and his performance would have made Freddie proud.
@@Melissa02891 I’m sorry you didn’t get to see the magnificence of Freddie’s performance, thank goodness we have videos 😊. Hmmm, I‘m afraid I am not a fan of Adam Lambert. He is over the top and he sounds quite unnatural, no depth. I’m glad he is enjoying himself but he’s not for me. I think people enjoy hearing the songs not necessarily AL’s voice 🤔 ❤️Freddie❤️
Fantastic reaction! If you think Freddie cannot top that check out Barcelona - Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe at La Nit 1988, it was the official song for the 1992 Olympics. Who said Queen wasn't heavy, they have loads of metal songs as well. Also from the Highlander check out Gimme The Prize, it is a pure metal track. Had the privilege to see queen in slane ireland 🇮🇪 in 1986 what a voice what an entertainer what a band devastated when he died in 1991 queen lives on I love your reaction keeping Freddie and Queen music alive
Freddie was already sick when he made this song. I just can't even imagine his feelings. No accident that he sounds and looks like an angel. We miss you Freddie. RIP
John Deacon is there. He’s in the red tux playing the double bass. Now you have to react to this live. Most people go for the live in Montreal but I prefer the live in Budapest, Freddie sings it with so much passion.
I can't stop watching this video. Nick's reaction just kills me. He is so adorable! He is clearly touched by the music and the performance. He shows a real appreciation for everything that's happening from Freddie.... to the organ that hits him "straight in the soul". When he shakes his head and says "Get out of here", it makes me laugh everytime and yet he expresses what we are all feeling. The Queen video is overwhelmingly beautiful, but Nick's reaction is priceless. Well done!
Well, technically they all sing but I don't think I've heard a single track where John Deacon sings solo, even just for a small section - he's always a harmony singer with the rest.
@@Londoneye57 Yes, but the relationship was on a much more equitable level with Queen vs the Beatles more unequal partnership. George Harrison had so little input against Lennon/McCartney's songwriting duo that he had a whole double album worth of material when the Beatles broke up. That album "All Things Must Pass" became the best selling of any of their solo works to date (or at least it was when I looked it up a decade ago) - I don't think that is a coincidence.
, absolutely right, I think it outsold Imagine and Band on the run added together. But the point was, each member of the Beatles had a number one hit as well as singing and writing.
Brian May said he wrote the whole song in 15 mins. John Deacon is in the video playing double bass. If you haven't already listen to "March of the Black Queen" by far their most complicated song ever
Hey guys... so glad to see you appreciating the awesomeness of Queen. For an even better version, try the live in Wembley '86 concert... it has the actual ending to the song {unforgettable).... And just for kicks, another powerful Freddie performance would be Barcelona off the Barcelona album...(or any song off that album). And yes, John Deacon was playing the stand-up bass in the red jacket just to the right of Brian singing. Wouldn't be Queen without them all being there... Yes, Queen's fan-base is world-wide and 50 years + and growing because they weren't just singers in a band, I truly believe Freddie had "the gift of music", he WAS music, and he taught the other members to be the same. That's why their music is so timeless, they invoke every emotion imaginable out of you as you listen and ACTUALLY FEEL the music... priceless!! Very few groups can say that... thanks for a great reaction! And thank you all for keeping the Queen legacy alive... I'm so thankful to have lived and grown up in the age of Queen...
The ending is also there on the album version, followed by 1 minute of instrumental. And there is also Forever which is the piano instrumental version.
I have about 50 Queen songs in my Top 10, but this song is always in my Top 3. Usually the other two are Love of My Life and the live version of White Queen at Hammersmith. You could have fun with Fat Bottomed Girls, or Don’t Stop Me Now. Or go through the super hits, like We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions, Under Pressure, Another One Bites the Dust, or a MUST DO is the full Live Aid 20 minute set that is widely regarded as the best live rock performance in history. Welcome to the best rabbit hole on the planet!

Please add I T"S LATE-QUEEN 🔥🔥🔥
That was an abridged version...the actual ending is drawn out more with an amazing ad lib to finish that is haunting in its depth and texture
Queen did all of the music for the movie 'The Highlander'.
Just imagine the music that they could have come up with over the last 30yrs. We are so lost without him
Highlander had 2 Queen songs just for it self. Stuff of legend, it brings back so many memories.
Its unbelievable that this man passed away 31 years ago, but yet his music stand the test of time....
Freddie IS immortal! Keep his (their) music alive and Freddie WILL live forever!
Now you need to check this song out live at Wembley 1986!
Every song is the best you've heard, until the next one.
The King. 😪🌷
Freddy…. What a voice, what charisma… I miss you.
Freddie too
Do this song live at Wembley 1986.
Queen is so much better live.
So much better!!!
Absolutely....beautiful song...soo.......emotional....yes...it is to a movie...on 🔥 fire....
No one could captivate an audience like Freddie. Hell, that power he has even comes through in video.
He always tops himself!!! It’s an enigma … GOAT ♥️
This was Freddie's swan song, his farewell to all of us, We love you and miss you Freddie..
No! This song is from 86. His last song was Mother Love finished by Brian from Made In Heaven album
I'm in tears guys ,👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
Imagine how hard it was when Freddie was singing this song when he knew he was dying It takes on a whole new meaning
Freddie was not diagnosed until 1987 and this song debuted in the 1986 Concert Tour
Sharon,he probably knew something as he had been tested quietly in Germany and although those tests were primitive,he had a idea.Brian wrote it,but yes it's ironic. The last two records were filled with hints that the end was near.
@@sharonmuntz1872 why not use ther BEST Songs!?
@@sharonmuntz1872Freddie suspected he was ill in 1986. Mary Austin said he knew. He was diagnosed with full-blown AIDS in 1987.
This song was written for the movie Highlander which came out in 1986, before he was diagnosed
Love Queen. so much to discover. so much diversity in their music
There can be only one! ...Queen.
There are 6 songs written for the Highlander movie.
Freddie wrote Princes of the Universe
Roger was inspired by one line and wrote A Kind of Magic, sung beautifully 1986 at Wembley for their tour of the same name,
John wrote a beautiful love song: One Year of Love,
and Brian wrote a piece for the villan of the movie called Gimme the Prize which Freddie said was very difficult for him to sing in this dark heavy register.
Even the line "It's a kind of magic" is used in the movie
The funny part of this album is when I originally got it on cassette, the first side was all the music to the movie "Iron Eagles" and side B was all the music to "Highlander; it was a double win and I had no idea initially.
Only one example of why he is a legend.
I believe the Highlander movie is about some immortal dudes chasing/pursuing each other for centuries.
"The Show Must Go On" is my favorite for many reasons.
I know and love this song since I was a teenager, but when my father, mother, older brother, sister and friends passed away one by one in the past few years, this song really touches my emotions.
This was the theme to Highlander (a movie).
Try these are the days of our lives!
I haven't heared this track for some time, but seeing Brian take the lead on vocals at first was so unusual, but when Freddie came in it gave me goosebumps, and with the orchestra it is epic, this is one of my all time favourite QUEEN songs, its a BANGER ! 🇬🇧👍
One beautiful soundtrack!
"Forever is our today" is such a beautiful line
"What just happened?!" 😂
🙏❤🌹Freddie🌹❤🙏

Science has officially confirmed what fans already knew about FREDDIE'S

moved at whopping 7,04 Hz Read the full story ( published in

John was front right in a red jacket playing the white double bass. Versatile bass player. ❤️
Great reaction guys.... Great band with the God of rock music as the front man....🙌
I cry every time I hear this song, It takes me back to Heather's death scene every time. If you have not seen the Highlander you have to watch it.
I think watching the official videos are great and I enjoy them but watching them live takes it to a completely different level. I've been listening to Queen since 1974 and you know what? Their music still gives me the chills, how fortunate I am to live in Freddie's lifetime. John Deacon was in this video he played the upright bass.
Totally agree, I too have loved Freddie and Queen for that long and saw them live in concert in 1975 and 1977. Unforgettable.
❤️Freddie❤️
I think people enjoy hearing the songs not necessarily AL’s voice 🤔
❤️Freddie❤️
Yes Queen has the most eclectic catalog from any mainstream act.
I have about 50 songs in my top 10. Possibly more. Miss you Freddie and Queen. Xx
Lovely intro on this song.. and then BOOOM Freddie opens up .. his voice, his range ,,, his stage performance. no matter wtf he did... omg..
Dang I'm all shivery.
Freddie at his best is unbelievable, this song always brings tears to my eyes!
Queen's songs that were not hits are often better then then their hits and sometimes their live performances are better then the studio versions. A list from all of their albums, someone can help fill in if I have missed something, I am leaving out mostly big hits.

RIP
No, he wasn’t
Well done!
Queen is a band where every member sings and writes. And every member of the band has penned at least one Number One hit single. 😎
and of course the Beatles had been there and done that already.
@@Londoneye57 No they haven’t. Starr never achieved it, nor Harrison as far as I can recall.

If you like Freddie power ballads, you must do his duet with Montserrat Caballe called Barcelona. Pure magic!
Imo, you can't do Freddie WITHOUT doing this one ❤
Yes 🤟🌷
Brian May said he wrote the whole song in 15 mins. John Deacon is in the video playing double bass. If you haven't already listen to "March of the Black Queen" by far their most complicated song ever
I get emotional too, my friends. It's powerful. Undeniably so.
Genius cannot be explained, it is inexplicable and it is wonderful.
Hey guys... so glad to see you appreciating the awesomeness of Queen.
Yes live version from Wembley is amazing 🤩
AND there's LIVE in Budapest - drama!
Yes. The live performance at Wembley will really give you chills!
