By far my favorite Queen performance to watch reaction videos to because John gets the recognition he deserves when he is singing with Freddie and the bass solo. Thank you for the reaction
@@susanechevarria4320 I think his mic was only turned down, not off. I saw a video where Freddie's mic broke while he was in the middle of singing so he used John's which was turned on, only at a lower volume.
As a teenager in the 70s it was such a thrill when Queen released an album because you would rush home from the record shop to play it never quite knowing what to expect from it. The music was so varied but so incredible well put together. Not one track ever disappointed me. Hot Space was the biggest surprise but even that grew on me really quickly.
One that I never get tired of watching! Everybody has their chance to shine here. John was very shy about singing and using his skills other than the bass. Did not want attention on him most of the time. One that I think you will truely enjoy is "One Vision" the extended version. You all have a great weekend!
John is their secret weapon. Two of the most recognisable bass riffs ever. Another One Bites the dust and Under Pressure. He’s normally the minimalist of bass players.
I was a teenager in the 70's and never heard this on the radio. I swear they hid Queen from us. Love this song. When Brian is killing his solo listen to what John is playing. It's just as great.
First time I saw Queen Live is from that time- 1974 this was off their first album, their black and white time. this was their Christmas special shown on the BBC-
Thank you for the great reaction. After 32 years that he's gone, for me, Freddie is still unmatched. He is amazing in all aspect. Total package🙂 Love Queen and Freddie forever. Again, thank you Mr and Mrs Coach. I hope you also react to Barcelona and How can I go on -just to see the other side of Freddie❤
This song is a perfect example why Brian May is an underrated guitarist: - on the album version he always plays "serviceable" to the song - no long solos, no showing off, just keep it radio friendly (that long guitar solo is *not* on the album version!). - but live he shows what he's capable of, so you have to see his live performances (like this one) to appreciate his skills.
On the Freddies tracks he tells Brian where to slot it in Freddie would compose the rest of the guitar parts Brian composed the solo but Freddie had the last word on it
For another complete shift in style, take a listen to ‘My Melancholy Blues’. By far my favourite band of all time would always surprise, not just from album to album but song to song - true versatility.
This is one of my absolute favourite Queen performances! Mostly because John finally gets his moment to shine, but I also love the riff and the rhythm of it. I don't usually like prog rock music, but I have to make an exception for this one. Brian's ability to create a good sound despite the minimal structure to the song really speaks to his talent. Love this reaction guys! '39 next pleeeeasse!! ❤
Welcome to the rabbit hole called Queen = As you have seen they go from full out hard rocking to very soft ballads, just wait til you hear Mother Love (Freddies last vocal he died before he could finish the song so Brian had to complete the vocal Btw its a tear jerker) oh and Queen could do any genre too - Edit added John Deacon was Queens secret weapon he could write a song which was a totally fab one
Yes, now Barcelona is not in my normal listening zone, but it is quite impressive. Bought it for the ex & she loves it. Done for the opening of the Olympics in Spain was it not ? Or was that coincidental ?
Thank you for doing "Liar" live, this is one of my favourite early Queen songs, it does a fantastic job of displaying their musical talent, and also their versatility, the almost non-stop change-ups present in this song are such a delight. :)
Liar is my favourite of all my favourites (and there are many of them). I love the changes of pace, the fact that each member of the band gets a chance to shine - usually it is Freddie and Brian. Brian's guitar section is just amazing and John Deacon's bass section is just perfection, it gives us a chance to see how good he really is,. I ticked thumbs up before you even started!
Thank you....yeeees!!...this version of “Liar” is excellent ...you’re right , there is a shorter version...but this one is excellent ...everyone of them gets a chance to shine...notice Freddie’s gloves...apparently this is where Michael Jackson got the glove” idea from....he was a big fan of Queen.....and no one could ever get tired of their iconic look, from hair to outfits🤩
During the 70s shows, John Deacon had the Mic stand to 'sing' into but his microphone was not switched on. It was mainly for the theatrical visual effect that the band like to exhibit in their live performances.
Thank you for yet another great reaction, this time to one of the band's lesser known songs. I love it because each of them gets their own turn in the spotlight. Freddie is incomparable as always, as are Roger and Brian. For once, so did John, who as you said, Coach, can always be relied upon to do his job to perfection, but he's so shy and self-effacing, he only stands out when he has one of his epic bass lines with which to start a song. Here, however, he gets his own designated solo mid-song. Also, he sang with Freddie, and he did that so seldom that it stands out, and we have the treat of hearing his sweet baritone.
YESSIREE!! One of my favorite live performances by Queen!! 👏👏👏. In the early years, LIAR was a concert staple, often lasting up to 10 minutes! And .. It was referred to in the setlist of the 1986 Magic Tour, as Brian played a partial guitar riff from the song immediately before “Tear It Up” (that’s a banger, too). IMO, Freddie penned this song based on some not-so-good experiences at Boarding School in India!
Hello again, my two favourite Queen reactors! Thank you so much for another great appreciation - I will admit, though, that "Liar" is not one of my top Queen songs. However, as an example of their early work it IS iconic and should be treasured for that. Just as I love "White Queen" but "The March of the Black Queen" not so much! Each to their own. It makes me chortle every time you begin a song, saying it's more up Mrs Coach's alley because of the title or because it starts off like a ballad and then it's "OK, I like this a lot". You see? You can never tell with Queen!
Queen just sold their whole catalog to Sony for a whopping $1.2 BILLION. It's a record breaking deal, no other bands catalog has brought anywhere near that. Loving seeing John sing and Brian has that cape thing on again ,🥴
Roger has said he had the best seat in the house . . . this is a fine example to prove that. But 'Liar" videos showing the briefest Freddie/Deaky duet deeply pleases my heart. Totally outstanding instrumental including all four....was gonna mention even the magnificent added 'percussion' of Freddie's tambourine, you just did, lol! Deaky's bass REALLY mind blowing.
Didn't realise this one had been releaed as a single in the states, although a great song a bit of a strange one as a single Always loved this song because as you say, it shows off not only freddies vocals but also the musicality of the other three, truly master musucians that you rarely see nowadays. So many more songs for you to work through coach, keep them coming as you are doing a great job and you two are the best reactors out there due to your musical knowledge. I always like the songs that they used to open their concerts with , one vision from their wembley 86 concert is well worth a watch, everyone has heard their anthem we will rock you which is not a particular favourite of mine but they opened the rock montreal 1981 concert with a fast version of it which sounds like a totally different song, as a rocker you will love it.
I live only a short bus ride away from the Rainbow! I can only imagine it was lack of Internet back then to explain why I never knew they played there! Gutted 😥😥😥😥
Loved the reaction as always!! This is one of my favorite performances from their earlier days, everyone gets to shine especially John which makes me so happy because he was so talented. While you’re doing 70s Queen and Live At the Rainbow I really recommend you check out “In The Lap Of The Gods” from this same concert, the first version they did because they revisited it a few years later, you’ll get a surprise on this one too with Roger, that’s all I’ll say. Overall this was truly one of their best concerts and I’m glad you’re getting to discover how truly diverse they always have been
TYVM Mr. and Mrs. C., my all-time favorite reactors... another stellar reaction to an amazing showcase of talent and versatility (I love this song)... precisely why the teenagers of the day LOVED Queen, because you never knew what to expect next, the versatility and performance were off the chart compared to other bands of the day... For another showcase of singing prowess, listen to "Let Me Live", where all three singers each perform a verse... or you could stay with Live at the Rainbow concert and react to "In the Lap of the Gods" (NOT the revisited, that is a totally different song)... Mr. C., you will especially like that one... Please keep up the great work you do digging into that rabbit hole... blessings.
This was indeed released as a single in the U.S., but with a shortened version (by the record company), which was so bad that it didn't do anything. I have not heard that anyone on this planet likes that version.
Hi folks! Nothing helpful to add here, except no, this song never really made it to radio much here, (they didn't really hit on the radio till '74 when "Killer Queen" came out.) and this was the period when Freddie was shaving his chest for some reason. Mrs. Coach may find it interesting that it was this time that I first laid eyes on Freddie (and the others, too, but...) and for me, there was nobody else till I got married. I'd never seen anything so beautiful. I was 10! Yeah, I'm old. Love you guys!
I appreciate your admiration for black sabbath I'm a 71 yr old that's been into sabbath since 71 ,Im◇love your appreciation for Tony Geezzer Bill &Ozzy and I liked your WV,U hat God bless you D Boone _
That was simply fantastic! I love this performance. Thank you for your reaction, it really made my day. If I may add another song to your list. Queen - Princes of the Universe (Official Video). The song is part of the soundtrack to the film Highlander and has an amazing guitar solo. Wish you a great day! 😊
To my understanding,, John, by his own admission, does not sing. He said...he cant sing. I did read that they would put that microphone in front of him but it was not turned on. lol...this is a great performance, as all of them are. they were the BEST! right from the start. If Mrs. Coach wants to hear Freddie sing beautifully...Who Wants To Live Forever...Wembley, Budapest any live performance of it from the Magic tour. Also, his songs from his Barcelona album. Amazing. Great reaction as always.
P.S. For the record, John never sang a note (according to him.) By his own admission, he coudn't carry a tune in a bucket. His mic was always unplugged and he may have indeed been singing, but he's the only one who could hear it.
I am Queen fan and love your site. John is an introvert and didn't feel his voice added to the harmonies so he just sang some backup. John has a First Honors degree in Electronics Engineering from Chelsea College. He was only 19 when he joined Queen and Freddie was 24 so he looked out for John as a big brother. He, like Freddie appreciated a variety of music. John ran the business end of Queen and was the only member allowed to take money from the Queen accounts. Freddie once said if God had forsaken them thankfully we have John. We don't do anything without running it by John. He built a state of the art monitor system for their stage and when in college he found some wires hanging out of a dumpster and he used them to make the Deacy Amp which Brian loves and uses it together orchestral sounds from his guitar. John gave it to Brian when he left. Special guy.
Johns son Luke sings in a band called Kid Jupiter. They are on you tube. You will easily spot which one Luke is. Luke is a very good singer. I suspect was too embarrassed to sing with the others in front of a large crowd
Hi coach & mrs coach love your channel especially Queen reactions as a long time Queen fan i was lucky to see them live in 1975 Hammersmith Apollo , Milton Keynes bowl 1982 , Wembley 1986 so your bringing back great memories . Rock on folks and welcome to the queen world 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hammersmith 1975 was of course known then as Hammersmith Odeon and this live appearance on December 24th was recorded for Old Grey Whistle test ( BBC ) as a young soldier on Christmas leave i got to witness my first of many live Queen gigs . Also many live AcDc gigs 🙏🏻
Queen at the start was influenced by Brian May. Brian was very much into the metal side of music. Queen then at the start was quite heavy because of this. Things started to change on the Shear Heart Attack album as Brian was quite sick, and the other members of the band had to stand up and write the music and the music changed.
I bought the single as a 14yr old,to me queen were as heavy as any other Rock band at the time but I think they were never recognised as a Rock band by the haters, just listen to the Queen Live Killers album and Rock yourself away.
Thanks, Coachies.. BTW, where have we seen that "glitter glove" before.. or actually, I think I mean "after".. lol.. appreciate your reaction.. I like that you appreciate the entire band - they are amazing... and that you have listened to some Queen that features Brian on vocal.. but still waiting to hear some reactions to Brian's solo works... they're worth a listen...
Yes, we heard Michael was a Queen fan. We're working hard on our list. So many artists, so many genres, so many requests. LOL But we know Queen will always have a place.
John never sang on studio recordings but he did add his voice to the backup choruses during live performances to add volume. Truth is, he wasn't a great singer (sort of average), especially in comparison to Freddie, Brian, and Brian. Once when asked if he would ever make a solo album, John said no as he admitted he didn't sing. FYI -“Liar” was Queen’s second single release and was written by Freddie (primarily written by Freddie but Brian claimed he wrote his guitar solo). It was "Liar" that inspired the inception of the pronunciation that a song’s ultimate credit would be based on its originator or lyricist. Of course, in the later years, they decided that all songs, no matter who originally brought the song to the group or who wrote the lyrics, would be credited to "QUEEN " so the group shared equally in the royalties.. Over the years, they had lots of arguments about who got the credit (since each member of Queen almost always had some input in the production of the songs). But, the person who got the writing credit got the royalties so there would often be major disagreements over who should get the credit. (Little known fact, though Freddie made a pile of money off of the royalties for the writing of the song Bohemian Rhapsody, Roger made just as much. Roger's song "I'm In Love With My Car" was on the B-side of the record and the royalties were split 50/50.) When "Liar: was released as a single, Elektra Records relegated the 6:27 epic track to just over 3 minutes, which did not exclude the tribal sequence beginning with, “Listen, are you going to listen? Mama, I’m gonna be your slave…” All or most Queen shows prior to their 1977 tour for their album News of the World would feature this song, often as a 10-minute closing number showcasing an extended solo by bassist John Deacon.
I believe the lyrics refer to Freddie having been brought up in a very religious Zoroastrian family. He is not supposed to raise his voice and drink, etc. and he is therefore a sinner. He is asking for help.
Freddie composed this song and he gives all the attention to other members. This song is aĺl about the guitars, bass and drums. Very few lyrics. BTW, your last reaction back in November 24 was exactly 32 years after Freddie's death (I don't know whether you knew that or just coincidence).
Ok team. This was one of my last 3 suggestions. Knew you’d like it especially for both the guitars 💥I’ll never let you down. Now for the other 2…. Slow it down for Mrs coach with “one year of love “ & for Mr coach “I want it all “. No live on either of these but bangers nonetheless 🔥🔥🔥I’ll throw you more after these. Of all the reactors you guys are the most pleasing to watch 💗
LIAR!...no my older sis Patty did turn me on to Queen jams in `72, BUT admit that to my dudes ,awe hellno...and I thought it was just me and Levon Helm that were the only singing drummers around until Roger came along & just blew me away....I see ya`ll are enjoying what we were lucky to witness during their rise to fame, along with their epic fog machines and that aint no lie.....
Love this song & performance. Everyone on fire. IMO prefer it over the studio cut. The Rainbow is another smaller venue much like the Odean. The stage seems too small for their energy.
My favorite from their first album! Apologies for the lengthy comment… Mrs. Coach mentions how ‘weird’ it is to see them in those early days. I think that’s because you’ve recently come into Queen and have been initially exposed to their most popular stuff, the 80s short hair mustachioed tank top stadium playing Queen. To me that era will always be ‘weird’ lol because I came into Queen in these very early days so for me, the true Queen was this long-haired, high heeled, glam rock, hard rockers! And make no mistake even though they had their own somewhat progressive take on things this was essentially a hard rock band that could’ve been mentioned in the same sentence with Black Sabbath and Zeppelin and Deep Purple. I had no use for the electronic Hot Space pop crap of the early 80s lol... at the time I mourned the loss of early Queen… Although I have to say ANY genre of music they tried they did it extremely well. These were four fantastic musicians and the early days really show off that talent… By the way, although this was a single, understand that the masses were not aware of Queen when their first album came out, and I can promise you this song was never on the radio. I myself never even heard the band until Bohemian Rhapsody, which was their fourth album… thanks for a great reaction, Rock on!
This was thier first song released in the States but they hated it and distanced themselves from it because it was chopped up so badly to fit the three minute single status, the song is much longer than that, it bombed badly. I got the single here in the UK not that long ago and it is a mess. Thier record execs had a lot to answer for in thier early days
The album version is better as you get to hear the switch ups in tempo and transitions better. I put this song second to Bohemian Rhapsody in the list of greatest Queen songs
I quite like Queen but I would have thought this would have made a terrible single for radio airplay, especially a shortened 3m20s version 😂. Now coach surely there are some pics of you in huge platform boots & silver pants Mrs Coach could put up 😂 Anyway its time for Steelers❤ v Cardinals
Couple of short ones from Wembley 1986 Friday and Saturday evening Rock And Roll Medley you'll see its slightly different, and impromptu by Fred again something they did at concerts. The Montreal concert is actually better when you have both Roger and Sir Brian narrating, they go through songs, where they came from who's doing what and why, the tapes from the couple of nights there have been cleaned up, they also talk you through the music videos, have you got an email address and I'll forward you the links
By far my favorite Queen performance to watch reaction videos to because John gets the recognition he deserves when he is singing with Freddie and the bass solo. Thank you for the reaction
John does not a singer. His lips move but his mic 🎤 is off. Freddie and Brian agreed to cut his mic. Brian did an interview stating this fact.
Mega Queen fan here always will be, I adore Freddie and miss him so much.

This might be Freddie at his sexiest. GREAT song and performance.
Thanks so much for watching!
I'm not a LIAR when I say QUEEN rocked the world! 😱
That is true! LOL
Well, they told us they would rock us.
I love John Decon's solo❤❤❤❤❤ and when he sings with Freddie ❤❤❤ John also sings in One Vision
Freddie used to be black and blue from his tambourine playing!
This song is a perfect example why Brian May is an underrated guitarist:
- on the album version he always plays "serviceable" to the song - no long solos, no showing off, just keep it radio friendly (that long guitar solo is *not* on the album version!).
- but live he shows what he's capable of, so you have to see his live performances (like this one) to appreciate his skills.
On the Freddies tracks he tells Brian where to slot it in
Freddie would compose the rest of the guitar parts
Brian composed the solo but Freddie had the last word on it
Unfortunately it wasnt radio friendly it didn't chart
Stations thought the inteo was too long and too instrumental
But it works really well in concert
This is such a solid song and this performance is exceptional. Roger really sets the tone for this song with his skillful drum intro. Thank you.
For another complete shift in style, take a listen to ‘My Melancholy Blues’. By far my favourite band of all time would always surprise, not just from album to album but song to song - true versatility.
Yes. And that's why I LOVE THEM
This is one of my absolute favourite Queen performances! Mostly because John finally gets his moment to shine, but I also love the riff and the rhythm of it. First 4 or so Queen albums were full of rockers with CRAZY GREAT harmonies and MEAN guitar that would leave you BLEEDING!!!

The studio version is full of tight TIGHT harmonies and you need to hear it!!!!
Can’t wait until you discover Freddie and Montserrat Caballe singing Barcelona. They also do a wonderful job on, How Can I Go On.
We enjoyed it!
Thank you for your great reaction. To me John Deacon is the secret weapon of Qeen. Greeting from Germany.

Love queen love the reaction spot on!!
During the 70s shows, John Deacon had the Mic stand to 'sing' into but his microphone was not switched on. It was mainly for the theatrical visual effect that the band like to exhibit in their live performances.
In terms of Queen you always have to expect the unexpectable. 😂 I love John's solo here, finally he's got a camera.
That was great to see!

Brian is without question one of the very best guitarists...musicians...that has ever played. You might also enjoy Joe Bonamassa
Great track from Queen ll
It's NOT from "Queen II", it's from "Queen"
Like your reactions.
Saw Queen live 1986 in Stockholm Sweden. Yes I am a Swedish guy 👍
Thanks very much!

John shared the mic with Spike Edney during Hammer to Fall…live 1986 Magic tour…
@@susanp.7954 but I dont think he was doing any singing. but, you never know!
This was the song that made me really love Queen. I was 6. Lol…
😆
Nice!
I have a number of cheques from Queen Music Ltd.
They all have John's signature first, then someone else. If he didn't sign, you didn't get paid
@@DirectDemocrat Yes, we've read he ran a lot of the business side.
Please do queen Who wants to live forever…live in Budapest ❤️🎼❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Johns son Luke sings in a band called Kid Jupiter. They are on you tube. You will easily spot which one Luke is. Luke is a very good singer. I suspect was too embarrassed to sing with the others in front of a large crowd
Oh, that's interesting.
John Deacon was shy of his singing voice!
He was shy in general. It was respectful the way Freddie pulled the attention away from John and toward Brian and Roger.
@@kimd.9070 He was shy in public, but in the circle of close people he could be a hurricane, according to Queen members!
Yes, he did have a lot to say in private!

i was in my teens when Queen sang 7 seas of rye 73
Hi coach & mrs coach love your channel especially Queen reactions as a long time Queen fan i was lucky to see them live in 1975 Hammersmith Apollo , Milton Keynes bowl 1982 , Wembley 1986 so your bringing back great memories . Rock on folks and welcome to the queen world 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you very much! We appreciate you watching. It's been fun for us so far.
You should listen to I want it all one great song by Queen .
Coach just right up your alley.
Same gig, but check out Keep Yourself Alive. Queens first ever single
Adam lambert wears those shoes now
Another great Queen review. Thanks for some early material. Keep it going. Breakthru, Hitman... Boomer Sooner.
We're enjoying it! Thanks for watching!
Roger's song "I'm In Love With My Car" was on the B-side of the record and the royalties were split 50/50.)
When "Liar: was released as a single, Elektra Records relegated the 6:27 epic track to just over 3 minutes, which did not exclude the tribal sequence beginning with, “Listen, are you going to listen? Mama, I’m gonna be your slave…”
All or most Queen shows prior to their 1977 tour for their album News of the World would feature this song, often as a 10-minute closing number showcasing an extended solo by bassist John Deacon.
Very interesting info here. Thanks for the great comment. 👍
John very rarely sang live more in the earlier days Freddie would try and get him to
i recommend checking out March of The Black Queen. It's like bohemian rhapsody before bohemian rhapsody
It was pure coincidence, but Queen fans pointed it out. We appreciate you watching!
We sincerely appreciate the suggestions and your very kind words. 🙏
1973 Queen I was released.
Queen One vision please
And documentary about making it!
Lap Of The Gods from the same show please 💙
Queen in the 70’s were not sold out to radio. They did not care making long songs.
Kya isnt a super long song but the beginning stopped it being on radio
Waiting for your “In the lap of the gods” reaction
Love this song & performance. Everyone on fire. IMO prefer it over the studio cut.
The Rainbow is another smaller venue much like the Odean. The stage seems too small for their energy.
Hope you got through the hurricane alright. Looks pretty nasty down there. Best wishes to CoachcastTV!
Thanks. Everything is fine here. We hate to see the devastation it caused, though.
Great comment. 👍
John was referred to as the "reluctant rock star" , he admittedly was not really a singer.
He still got plastered on stage in some live shows tho
BLACKPINK 2023 guide please
You definitely loved it
This was thier first song released in the States but they hated it and distanced themselves from it because it was chopped up so badly to fit the three minute single status, the song is much longer than that, it bombed badly. I got the single here in the UK not that long ago and it is a mess. Thier record execs had a lot to answer for in thier early days
Oh wow. That's too bad.
Try as well listening to Seven Seas of Rhye (Queen 1973 & Queen II. 1974) BUT the best would be the live version from Wembley 1986
The album version is better as you get to hear the switch ups in tempo and transitions better. I put this song second to Bohemian Rhapsody in the list of greatest Queen songs
That's a high rating and we understand why.
I quite like Queen but I would have thought this would have made a terrible single for radio airplay, especially a shortened 3m20s version 😂.
Now coach surely there are some pics of you in huge platform boots & silver pants Mrs Coach could put up 😂
Anyway its time for Steelers❤ v Cardinals
LOL, there may be some childhood photos in checkered pants in the '70s. And I also cannot imagine how to shorten this to around 3 minutes.
Wait until Roger gets his Maracas out lol
😆 🤣
They have a Christmas song called Think God it's Christmas. If you would react to.
If you want to see Glam Rock listen to Ballroom Blitz by Sweet
Couple of short ones from Wembley 1986 Friday and Saturday evening Rock And Roll Medley you'll see its slightly different, and impromptu by Fred again something they did at concerts.
The Montreal concert is actually better when you have both Roger and Sir Brian narrating, they go through songs, where they came from who's doing what and why, the tapes from the couple of nights there have been cleaned up, they also talk you through the music videos, have you got an email address and I'll forward you the links
The email is on our "About" page on the channel. Thanks!
@@CoachCastTV can't see about on the channel, not one of the options
@@sandrabutler8483 Hmm, not sure why, but the email is simply coachcasttv@gmail.com.

My opinion get used to the studio versions before the live ones..just saying
Where is J Cole?
Coming tomorrow, assuming it doesn't get blocked for copyright when it's uploaded in a little while. Just finished editing it.

We have a J. Cole coming soon.

John really can’t sing. When he sings alone they keep his mic low.
