Hey team ‼️good call coach playing this song on Freddie’s passing anniversary. His last hoorah. He even sounds great for being on last leg. 💥💥rock with ya on the next one
Thank you so much to react to this sad and beautiful song, especially today. I visited the Montreux control room and there's a golden commemorative plaque on the ground where Freddie stand during his last vocal recording. It's really heartbreaking.
Many years after Freddies death Brian and Roger commissioned some videos to go with some of Queens last songs, this is what you have stumbled across.Freddies last recordings were done in late may 1991 as you know Freedie passed in the November. The snippet of a song you hear at the end is I think I'm going back ,a Dusty Springfield song which Freddie recorded under the name Larry Lurex.
Yes. This is Freddie's last song. He told Brian, "I need to go home and rest. We'll finish it when I come back." In Brian's words,"He never came back." This song is Brian, Freddie, and a drum machine. Brian was writing lyrics frantically. Freddie was singing whatever Brian gave him. They were both desperate. Brian finished it later. Concensus is that Freddie lived longer than expected because he had the music. RIP Freddie Mercury.
For decades it has been said that the most tragic rock band in history was Badfinger. You can find their story online. I am thinking that now Queen should be in the running for the "honor." The four band members came together knowing that one of them was dying and there was no cure. And, for 5 years, they worked together and supported him until the end. As the song says 'Friends will be friends, right to the end."
@@basstianYes. But he wasn't there with Brian and Freddie. The original recording was made with Brian, Freddie, and the drum machine. Everything else, including John's work, was added later.
That's what got me too, he was so ill yet the voice could still power up. I like to see an analysis of the video. Anyway, we all twisted our hearts a bit together. Thank you Coach and Mrs Coach.
I've got the timeline for the original sessions in Switzerland, all in May 1991: - Monday the 13th: Both co-authors (May & Mercury) recorded vocal tracks, there was also a drum machine, some guitar and some keyboards (by either one of them or maybe both). This was, as far as I know, the last time Mercury ever sang in the studio. - Thursday the 16th: Deacon added his bass (not necessarily the one on the final mix, but perhaps!), May added guitar overdubs and there were also some keyboards. If Mercury played the latter (maybe he did, maybe he didn't), then that was the last time he played an instrument in the studio. - Wednesday the 22nd: Rough mix. If Mercury was present (maybe he was, maybe he wasn't), then it was the last time he was a co-producer. The song was left untouched for 875 days (literally) until John and Roger resumed work on it while Brian was touring the States as a solo artist. From that point onwards, there were loads of ideas, a few arguments and loads of compromising between the three of them as to what to do with it. Brian played the solo using a different guitar, not the one he and his father built, and since that guitar wasn't manufactured before 1993, we can be almost certain said solo was recorded in 1994-1995. The final mix was in or before September 1995.
"My body is aching and I cant sleep, my dreams are the all the company I keep". Considering that this album was only released four years later, it makes me wonder when Brian came back to finish the song.
Freddie said to Brian's wife, Anita: "When I can't sing anymore, dear, than I'll die." Singing and making music kept Freddie alive a little longer. “I'm hearing Freddie’s voice getting... weaker. But I mean he still hits all the notes. There's an absolutely spine-chilling note in the middle of "Mother Love" ("out in the city, in the cold world outside, I don't want pity, just a safe place to hide") which is just a great bit of singing." - Roger Taylor
Several songs from the album Made in Heaven were turned into music videos as part of a project to encourage young British filmmakers. Mother Love was one of them. At the end of the video - as in the original song - there is a kind of return in time (almost like a return to the mother's womb) represented by LiveAid's Ay-Oh, by the song Goin' Back (one of the first recordings by Mercury, May, Taylor and Deacon in the studio where Freddie used the pseudonym Larry Lurex because it was a Dusty Springfield cover) and a baby crying.
Brian also said: "We thought that’s what really we’re looking for. We wanna get back to that place where we were warm and snug and loved and secure. So the song was purely about that, but of course underneath, we’re talking about “Where’s Freddie going and where are we all going eventually...”💔 Brian completed Mother Love 3 years after Freddie's passing. It was a painstaking task but it made a full circle of Freddie's journey: It's the last song Freddie sung and it ends with the beginning line from the very first song Freddie ever recorded (a cover of a song by Carole King Goin' Back) "I think I'm going back to the things I learnt so well in my youth..." and a baby's cry 😢
The vocals for the song were recorded from 13 - 16 May 1991, 6 months before Freddie passed away. He still sounded good knowing he was near the end. He wanted to record as much as he could until he had nothing left. November 24th 1991 is a day I'll never forget. R.I.P. Freddie
@CoachCastTV To add a bit, I do think he went back into the studio in October to do some vocals on Mother Love, but as stated, never finished it. That's just what I've heard from quite a few people, not sure about it's 100% accuracy. From what I understand May 1991 was used fo record A Winter's Tale and the beginning of Mother Love with October being the final sessions. Again, not 100% sure
Always have a tear in my eye everytime i hear it. I agree with Mrs Coach that you can hear the sadness in Brian's voice when singing the rest of this song. I really think that you should listen to the song 'Let me live''' from the same album. RIP Freddie. As always guys thanks.
I feel my heart breaking every time I hear this song. Freddie really gave his everything in each and every one of his songs. Many fans over the world are saddened by his passing, but i wonder how bad it mustve been for John, Brian and Roger when they first heard. "I was on my way to see Freddie, i was about 300 yards away, when Peter Freestone rang me to tell me, 'dont bother coming cause hes gone." -Roger We know that John quit and Brian contemplated suicide after Freddie’s death. I'm glad that Roger and Brian seem to be doing better and I hope that John is living a peaceful and quiet life. Try to listen to Let Me Live, also from this album. Thanks for this reaction. Rest in peace, Freddie 🕊
Hello Mr & Mrs Coach. Thank you for doing this reaction to Mother Love. Rest in Peace Freddie Mercury. Hey you still have plenty of Queen to discover & react to so keep on looking for there music & videos.
The video was done for a project called Made In Heaven The Films. Basically a lot of young directors made videos for songs of this album, including Mother Love. But it wasn't used as a promo video becouse the song was never released as a single
And also, that two last lines after the "eooo" moments are from Goin' Back song, technically one of the very first songs that Freddie recorded on the studio. It was a kind of a solo project that it was released before the first Queen album. It was a cover. Brian asked to the original writter to let them to used on the song
My last comment I promise! Brian discussed on his website the writing process he and Freddie had (writing both separately and together, and conscious of the nature of the song and the lyrics), the statement that he made, "And Freddie at that time said 'Write me stuff... I know I don't have very long; keep writing me words, keep giving me things I will sing, then you can do what you like with it afterwards, you know; finish it off' and so I was writing on scraps of paper these lines of 'Mother Love', and every time I gave him another line he'd sing it, sing it again, and sing it again, so we had three takes for every line, and that was it... and we got the last verse and he said 'I'm not up to this, and I need to go away and have a rest, I'll come back and finish it off...' and he never came back". The last verse of the song was sung by Brian. Close to the end of the song, it features a sample from Freddie’s call and response recorded at Queen's famous 12 July 1986 concert at Wembley Stadium, and a sample from the intro of the studio version of "One Vision" and "Tie Your Mother Down". Afterwards, a snippet of every Queen song ever recorded can be heard, put together and then rapidly sped through a tape machine starting from their recent songs and going back to the beginning. Concluding the song is a sample from a cover of "Goin' Back", a song written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, for which Freddie had provided lead vocals in 1972 (more to come on this). As the song fades out, there is a baby heard crying.
The last lyrics "I think I'm going back..." was taken from early recordings of Freddie around 1972 using the name Lary Lurex. So, early song combined with last one.
How appropriate to chose his last recording for Posting on the anniversary of his death. The song always gets me. Especially that versehentlich that Brian had to sing because Freddie was gone. 😢
Now you have listened to Mother love i suggest you give Only the good die young. A song that Brian wrote as a tribute to Freddie, recorded a demo tape, gave it to Roger for his remarks, Roger however put it away, forgetting about it, came across it sometime later, called Brian and said that it had to be recorded and was the last song ever recorded by the remaining three members of Queen.
The power and soul from Freddie and Brian when Freddie knew he was days from passing away❤ A true Icon and inspiration to look up to and also the band Xxx I love the song Scandal from Queen. Shows you how strong Freddie’s voice was Xxx there is no one else like Freddie
It was about 2 years after Freddie passed that they started working on the last album. They started digging through the archives to see what they could do. It was very hard on the 3 guys to sit and listen to Freddie’s voice day after day all day. Brian wouldn’t let the other guys touch Mother Love and I believe A Winters Tale. I believe the last time Freddie was in the studio was the end of May in 1991.
I think that this video is a clip from a movie, I dont believe that Queen had anything to do with that being the background for this song. But thank you so much for reacting to this one, especially on this day that we remember him forever and always. It makes me so sad when I hear Brians voice come in for the last verse.
Hi folks! Yes, today is indeed the day. It was a Sunday then, too. The news came over the TV at the 10.00p news break, and the floodgates were opened. All the radio stations let loose with "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the accolades for Freddie's greatness began. (And I can tell you, it wasn't there until he died. When I was 11, 12, back in the Sheer Heart Attack/Night At The Opera days, being a Queen fan could get your a** kicked in the parking lot. Gender notwithstanding.) It didn't seem possible then and now it doesn't seem possible that he's been gone longer than his iteration of the band lasted. I have no doubt he would get a huge kick out of seeing how things have continued. Yes, there were four equal parts, but let's not kid ourselves. If it had been Brian, John , Roger and Dave, they would be a footnote in musical history. As this is the Doc's song, there is a version of just him singing it-I am loath to day I prefer it as Freddie always sounds a bit off singing the Doc's lace-and-ruff lyrics, but that doesn't mean this one isn't great. Actually, it's hard to not tell this was written for Anita. (And I'm not for one minute buying that Mrs. Coach is "just laughing" at Coach-there's something going on, but that's okay. Keep your secrets!) As for this video, I don't know WTH this is. I hadn't seen a video for this, and I'm not sure they should have bothered. No, it was not the day he died. This was months before he checked out. The album came out in January '91, he passed of course, eleven months later, so this was out almost a year before he went. For me, this video is a distraction. The stuff at the end is on the record and really is a lot more powerful when you don't have those annoying visuals. "Going Back" is a song Freddie did before Queen-there's a few of those floating around. The Larry Lurex stuff, but all that comes in time. Long live Freddie.

Near the end of the song just before you hear the baby cry is all of Queens songs, I believe its just portions of them, as its extremely fast. Great reaction as always❤
I would like to hear you do a reaction to the song the remaining 3 members did as a tribute to Freddie "No One But You (Only the good die young)". It's a beautiful tribute and it also showcases what great singers both Brian May and Roger Taylor are. You can also see John Deacon's heartbreak.
This video was created I think it was done by some students, the whole album of videos, it was their interpretation of the videos, very arty, not Queen at all which I think was the point..

@@markpalmer7215 in the book 'Mercury and Me' written by his last lover Jim Hutton, he says that the last trip of Freddie in Sweitzerland was in early September 1991. I don't remember why because i read it in 1998 but if i well remember it was because of they were working about their last album ( Made in Heaven). Maybe than the last recording were 'A winter's tale'.. i don't know
@@SCHHHa mother love was recorded 16-19th May 1991, it was Freddie’s last time in studio, he told Brian he would return to finish it but he never did. There’s no definitive time given for recording the vocals of A Winters Tale but Freddie wrote it & recorded it before Mother Love as everyone including Brian & Roger acknowledged that Fred’s last Vocal was mother love.
Loved Queen till about 1978-then they became very brilliant/shit.Saw them live 3 times-always outstanding.I personally wish they retired long before Freddie died.
I've heard the album as my mum owned it. Personally, I don't like the album and shall never listen to it ever again. The reason is that the music is fine, but some of the vocals sound like demos, and the feel of the album comes across to me different from what came before. One must remember that the vocals were recorded over five years before the album was released. I feel that if Freddie had been involved further in the album, it would have turned out different. Because of the reasons stated, I don't classify it as a true Queen album even though Discographies state otherwise. No disrespect to Queen, Freddie or the fans. It was so sad that this album was released the way it was. If other Queen fans love it that's great as I'm just stating what I feel.
This is a great track but sadly you Chose the baddest Audio quality. Dont know why queen official has this bad Audio quality. Please Listen again in hq also on you tube....freddie's final vocals can be better heard there
I love this song but HATE the official video-Freddie of course had nothing to do with it and it has nothing to do with the song. It really really distracts from the poignant lyrics of the song--the wishes of a dying man. I had read an interview with Brian May somewhere long ago that said Mary Austin was sort of in the back of his mind when writing this song as she really took care of Freddie all of those years they were such close friends.
aww. The video is terrible for this song. The soundeffects and not related images butcher it. People should have told you to go with the lyrics video and not this crappy version. 😕

this song has been recorded by Freddie till early September to be true.. Anyway i don't understand what this video is about..
Yes, we can see why someone would say that.
@@SCHHHaFreddie’s last vocal on mother love was recorded in May 1991
@@markpalmer7215 in the book 'Mercury and Me' written by his last lover Jim Hutton, he says that the last trip of Freddie in Sweitzerland was in early September 1991.
I think, this is not original video from Queen. I am not sure. But lyrics is about something else.
I found the video a complete distraction. Much prefer to listen to the pure song.
That video distracts you from the music IMO. Try another link with the lyrics only and truly immerse yourselves in Freddie's final work.
This video distracts from the meaning of the song; you should have taken a video with clips of Freddie...this one has no link to the song...
