What are your favorite work from home items?

Check out the MOFT stand. Attaches to the underside of a laptop and elevates it in 2 different positions. Not for everyone depending how you use a laptop but if you want less elevation its a good option (and because its attached to your laptop very convenient!)

Side by Side power packer - fits all the cables, dongles, clips, Swiss Army knife companion, USB drive, SD cards, bluetooth mouse, spare camera batteries, charger, x4 USB two pin wall unit, Emoskop and still has spare elastic straps for more. It isn't flat; infact a bulky lumpy odd shape when packed out. However I have not found a time when that has been an issue. Drops into a daily backpack next to a gorilla pod.

    1. I’m waiting to hear you say “I’ve been wearing this around my apartment for the last three weeks”
    2. Personally, running a Mac desktop or my iPad with detachable keyboard. Using a field-style notebook, my iPhone, the Jabra 65t actives (agreed on the case) and of course my tech/storage case for all my accessories.

Working from home as an IT Specialist I use my dell laptop with the dell docking station to use a desktop like workstation and then when I need to go or move somewhere else I undock the laptop and get resume where I left off. When Im at the office or need to be onsite I keep an ipad pro using duet display to use 2 monitors on my laptop.

I have a two bag concept. Means one bag (simple zip bag) for my 13" Dell laptop, where I put also some nicknack like Sandisk SSD and small cables to connect USB-devices like smartphone and cam plus my wired earphones in. In the second bag (small Amazon packing cube 😁) is all the rest - cables, chargers, travel plugs, adapters, powerbank, pen and notebook. Plus a little torch and a Victorinox MiniChamp Alox 😜. All cables are bundled and secured with simple rubbers. I love the light weight of that solution including that little chaos in the second bag - and the fact that I do not have to carry bags inside the bags and to open more zips to find my equipment.

Sounds like you have a solid setup going on here! It's so important to find a system that works well for you. Digging that hack of using rubber bands for your cables too. Thanks for sharing!

@@PackHacker yes thanks I had it initially similar to what's shown in the video with lot of extra bags for everything, but I always forgot what was where in and it happened all the time that I found the searched item in the last bag I opened ... kinda Murphy's law thing 😁
Of course I changed my concepts often and might change that current one also one day, but currently I'm happy with that since 3 years. Since I organize most of my stuff in packing cubes I found it most handy to organize also my electricals in such a cube, that fits best to my actual gear (mostly either Osprey Farpoint 40L or Victorinox Altmont Active 19L, both front loaders and great working with packing cubes).
I love such videos, just btw - once in a while one should reconsider whether there is anything to optimize, and such videos trigger that a lot ... and now is time enough for such tasks 😁😁😁
      stay safe!

Every time I see a mobile Mac setup, I look at my Windows laptop and say thanks for having a full range of ports. I couldn't imagine bringing so many extra dongles and cords just to do basic things when traveling.

I would add a little pouch with a few aspirin, advil, a bandaid, microfiber cloth and a Shout stain wipe.

Lenovo T series laptop and a Logitech MX Anywhere Mouse and you will have reduced the carry size and weight. as you will not need the port extension dongle, will have the ability to upgrade things like ram , or HDD add or remove 4G or wifi etc....

Hey Tom if you can live with a little less battery capacity, I've been traveling with an AUKEY Wireless Power Bank, it has PD to charge my tablet on the go. But the neat part for me is that it can top off my phone wirelessly so I reduce bulk on cables. It also chages via usb-c or micro usb. The only con that I have for it, is that the wireless charging does not have pass through, so you cant charge the pack and charge your phone wirelessly at the same time.

Just a suggestion, maybe you cam also suggest a dual drive (both USB C or Lightning to USB A) instead of just the thumbdrive. In that way you can use the drive on both the phone and the computer whether its PC or Mac.

Koato If I may chime in on that...even though I am more of a coffee man, I very much love my cuppa every once in a while. My setup is an „Ingenuitea“ brewer for loose tea. On the go, I take one of my Contigo mugs (got a dedicated one for tea and coffee). For those times where I want more than a cup, I use an Avex Capacitor 1.2 litre thermos bottle (in the now very hard to get „Unfinished Stainless“ design).

Good idea, another option would be to use your camera tripod and external display as your main monitor and use your actual MacBook keyboard and mouse for it's function. You can get rid of the keyboard, the mount and you have a 2nd display for a similar footprint and cost.

Do any of you use a mechanical keyboard on the go?
I am currently building myself a little 60% size one, mainly as a lockdown project. The size is pretty similar to the Apple Magic Keyboard, except it is not that flat and obviously heavier. Still, I figured that this might be something I may take on trips because I really do type a lot and I prefer using a proper mechanical keyboard with real switches (also obviously, just in case anyone wonders, although I love them I would not put Cherry MX Blue Switches in a „travel keyboard“ b/c they are very noisy).
