I have to say, my CBX2 48º wedge is absolutely fantastic. I use it constantly and it is nearly automatic from 95-105 yards. It's also a great chipping club for me, because I like to play a lot of chips that are basically lofted chip-and-runs, where I want a tiny bit of check, but then a fair amount of run-out. It is a fairly wide sole if you're coming from blade wedges, but the CBX2 is just really easy to use from all kinds of lies and I get very reliable launch and trajectory with it, and thus great distance control. I play everything square with it, because the sole isn't really designed to be opened up and I just go up to the 52º if I need the ball to get up more.
If I would make any change at all it would be to look at the CBX wedges. I may explore those in the off season. Thank you for watching. I have a Maxfli Tour and another 2 man event video coming within the next 5-6 days. I hope you can watch them. Thank you again.
@@mistahshorthitter I'll echo this... the most consistent club in my bag last year was a CBX 52 degree with 11 degrees of bounce. I can stick that sucker within a couple feet of 100 yards consistently and almost never hit it badly. For me, the goal is to create the smallest possible ranges of yardage around the green where I'm susceptible to fats and thins. The CBX wedges help enormously with that project.

I have trouble holding greens also with my game improvement irons but I'm going to bend them all 2 degrees weak to increase landing angle and spin. Already with 1 degree weak I see a big improvement.
I got fitted for the PXG 0211 DC irons last April, 6-GW, and after playing for the summer, I might remove the 6i and replacing it with either a 5 hybrid or 7w. Trying to make this game as easy as possible and still have fun.

Interesting! 4 hybrids so I may need to consider adding a 3H and 6 H. My Wilson Prostaff CX set has driver, 3W, 4&5 hybrids, 6 - PW, SW. I added LW and putter so there’s some gaps
Great WITB segment! As a gear head myself I find this very interesting and really descriptive about what the clubs do and why you choose to put certain ones in play. I truly think that Cleveland wedge found you not the other way around. One question you have some brand loyalty and I use to be that way but wondering if a random company sneaks into your bag this upcoming season ?
It is definitely a possibility. I plan on looking into a 4 wood and Srixon doesn't offer one in the lineup. I'm planning on taking a look at Callaway at an upcoming golf expo in the area. Thank you for watching!
Absolutely love that bag - total gamer setup. Was going to suggest you get the iron set-matching GW or a CBX wedge, but then I saw your swing and ball flight and you are obviously a very nice player. Sponsored by Sxiron? New sub.
Not sponsored but I have always liked there stuff. I played Callaway driver until about 6 years ago. I've never liked Callaway irons. Thank you for watching and commenting! Let me know if you have a video you'd like to see.
@@mistahshorthitter Just looked at all your videos, and having just seen your What's in the Bag, and seeing your golfing level, and it's very similar to mine, I think now that you have your top end of the bag set, I would like to see a shoot-out of clubs to see if you can replace your 48. The reason I say this is I too have gone to stronger lofted clubs, but I weakened the shortest irons so that I had a 47 degree PW (it was stock 45) - so that meant for me, that my next club was my most important transition club, and how I would use it started to mean a lot for my game. As the modern game has changed the 'stock' position that is 'normal' for chipping, i.e. a more verticle shaft to use the bounce (as opposed to back in the stance hands forward chipping technique), I have transitioned to doing 'most' of my stock shipping with my 52-degree wedge (because 52 forward in the stance is similar to 56 back in the stance). Thus, that chipping/pitching club is 'really' important - and deciding what loft, how much bounce, the grind, how wide the bounce is, is all of a sudden potentially much more important than it ever was. So my video idea for you is, can you find a better 48-type wedge (more bounce, better grind, different loft), that might become a better scoring/chipping club in your bag. For me, this has absolutely been the case. In the last few years, I've gone from an 8 handicap to a +1 - and while everything has improved, my 40-yards and in pitching/chipping is dramatically better - huge practice yes, but finding that goto pitching/chipping club that I've tested to see what makes me better was key. My weapon happens to be a crazy thing I came across and that is a 56/14 Mizuno T20 that I bent to 52/10 - because it has a fantastic C-grind and it allows me to do whatever I need to do to score better.
Thanks for the idea! I am definitely going to give that some thought. I really believe you are onto something there. That always seems to be an interesting place in the bag.
In a way , your WITB shows that we play with similar equipment, in concept anyway. It is important for golfers to get clubs that suit their game, rather than buy a full set and try to adapt their game to the clubs. If a club doesn't work for you reliably, why are you lugging it around the golf course? Your review not only tells us what you are using, but why, which is helpful. Plus it shows that you can play good golf with clubs that are not the premium level ( read expensive/ new). I have a Gravity Golf Arc Master putter that suits my arcing stroke ( toe weighted) so I am interested in your Cleveland putter. What model was it? I use two sets of wedges; 56/60 Cleveland CBX2 for winter ( higher bounce) and 56/60 single length SL-7 for summer ( lower bounce 10/4) . My irons are all single length ( Milford SL-7 only available in Oz/NZ) from 8 (36) iron to 50 GW. In winter to get more carry I am using Tour Edge iron-wood 6( 29) & 7( 33) , but when we get run again I put the SL-7 clubs back in the bag. Why single length? It allows for a wide band of distance out from the green that I am using the same set up for all shots= more reliable outcomes. I have TS2 hybrid 27 and TS2 7 wood, which I have adjusted at the hosel sleeve to a sightly flatter lie angle to stop going left too much. Next I have a Cobra F9 SL 19 hybrid, which is the most versatile club in my bag. It flies lower than a conventional hybrid of the same loft, but it is my get out of trouble club for poor lies/ positions/ punch shots/ bend it either way around trees, chipping near the green and off the tee into wind. After giving up using 3 woods off the ground, I now use a Cobra SZ 3 wood ( 16 does that make it a 4 wood?) for the few fairways where I need to find the narrow fairways. I want to test the Wilson Fywood in comparison to the 4 Wood for this role, as we discussed previously, mainly because it is easy to hit off the ground. My driver is a Cleveland XL Launcher ( set at 10.5) which in my hands ( 90 mph swing speed)performs as well as a Ping 425, and $500 AU less in price.
Nice setup! Looks like you have it perfect for you. The Cleveland putter is model Frontline 2.0. I may change to the Cleveland CBX wedge in the future. I also have some Tour Edge Ironwoods in the garage that I played before I got the Srixon 5 and 6 hybrids.
@@mistahshorthitter I looked up the Frontline 2.0 putter and there were about 6 variants. three were toe hang and the others face balanced, which I know does not suit my stroke.
Have you tested an A-flex (senior) shaft yet? I recently threw in the towel on regular flex shafts. My swing speed is just too slow and fits right into the wheelhouse of A-flex. It really does help launch the ball higher. I tested a Tour Edge E722 7-iron and love it...gonna order those soon to help on the carry distance. New iron tech over the last few years is great.
I have not not but am considering going to graphite. Normally, driver clubhead speed of less than 85 and under 200 yards are the barometers for considering A-flex shafts.
