Should You Move To Morganton North Carolina?

Here's an answer to a question from a person looking for a nice place to live that has a decent cultural vibe but is less expensive than Asheville, NC. I provide several NC mountain alternatives to Asheville, but ultimately talk about my own hometown area, the Catawba Valley, including Hickory, Valdese and Morganton. There's really a lot to offer in this Western Piedmont Foothills area, and it's so centrally located, you can be in Charlotte or Asheville, or the Appalachian highlands all in around an hour.
