Micro Nova / Big Slope - Big Fun / High speed performance in strong conditions No5

- This is the fifth flight video of my personal-prototype Micro Nova… two previous videos (No3 and No4) showed the model performing in low height sand dunes/ minimal wind-lift conditions and being able to fly efficiently at low speeds.
This time I have chosen to fly in a big slope with good lift to exploit the higher speed range of the Nova…When flown in strong conditions this unique micro size R/C sailplane can completely change its character and be transformed to an exciting speedster really carving out big chunks of the sky with minimal energy loss.
And all this at a low AUW weight of 115 grams…which once again proves the old axiom: drag reduction is the number one design parameter and especially important in micro size sailplanes operating at a low Re range.

Well done by pilot and camerawoman both. Not to mention a great flying site. I am quite jealous.
Hello,
Thank you very much for your positive comments, actually my camerawoman is the unseen hero as she had a difficult time keeping up with the fast moving Nova...
Hi...just read your email...I am a member of the MVSA. in the UK....You have nice warm water to land in!
Hi Rick,
Flying over coastal sites has certain advantages like dependable and constant sea wind…but water does not really like models! Actually in past years we had a beautiful Xantipa F3J ship take a dip as battery went dead…salvaged the model with little damage but all R/C gear was salt water drenched and not repairable.
I like inland sites as in a good condition day slope lift can be combined with thermal activity and really fly way out…like a short cross country to the limits of vision.
