Long time viewer, and have become the 'go-to' guy at work when someone needs some tool. I've had this about a year and a half, nd it is a work of art. Its been useful many times. Last week my boss needed a flathead to loosen a set screw in an ancient paper sizing micrometer. The Hotu twisted and bent like overcooked piece of spaghetti. In another bag, I had a Wiha multi bit driver that worked. I also have the IFix it kit which I like, but the bits are not well labeled in that foam tray. I really like that handle though. The hotu is pretty, but has a glass jaw on tough twists!
2 tips for you Doc. If a bit has an engraved size marking, I use a little white paint pen to fill in the engraving and wipe off. Makes it easy to see in dim light. Second is if that tool is a bit slippery, you can add a custom grippy area with some masking tape and some plasti dip.
I wish I had the discretionary income to buy all the tools I like. The truth is, I don't really need more hand tools or power tools for that matter. Spent almost $200 this week on shop gear: Fluids, lubricants, a degreaser made for the said fluids and two fairly inexpensive tools, if a Goldenrod oiler and a bench block qualify. Most of the funds went toward consumables. Today is the last day of Zoro's 20% off sale. Let me know if you, or anyone, wants the promo code.
Looked on their website. The Hoto kitchen scale is nothing short of beautiful. Thinking about getting one. If I didn't already have a small bit holder with dedicated bits, the twofer is a hell of a deal. Edit: I bought them. My son's birthday is coming up and one of these will be his. Likely the red. As this channel seems to attract a given demographic, thought I'd mention this. If you use a tool with a pedal as its speed control, as I do daily, arguably the best pedal for this will no longer be available. Lucas Dental, the manufacturer, is closing its doors. In business since 1930, family owned, the company is shutting down. The owner, Richard Lucas, is retiring. The few pedals available now are the last of them. I have one arriving today. Pretty excited. On a personal note, this sort of thing saddens me. A purely American company, built on ingenuity and quality, will no longer be around. Not a good thing.
That’s a pretty slick little deal. I don’t use precision drivers much, except for the kids toys occasionally. I’m not big into messing with electronics. Might be nice for my brothers, though.
The Klein CS guy was great. He was as curious as I was. I asked if my bit could be warranted and in a telling comment he addressed something I have encountered with Klein. He said no because that would open up a necessary paper trail for warranty exchanges. Instead Klein would circumvent their process and just send me a replacement bit. We are about two weeks out so it should arrive soon.
Amazing what can be made these days for not much money. The good side of the robot revolution. I'll enjoy their precision and manufacturing right up until they take over humanity.
I never understood why anyone makes an uninsulated screwdriver. I love the look of this screwdriver. You can tell it’s top notch at a fair price, but ALL screwdrivers should be insulated. No excuses.
Really late to the discussion, but if you want ESD safe, then it has to be conductive. For small electronics like what this would be used for, you want ESD safe. You don't need insulated unless you are working on live power
I have both the iFixit and the Hoto base on your videos. I found I like the iFixit bits in the Hoto better. Seems the hex portion of the bit fits tighter in the Hoto driver better than the iFixit driver. More sloppy with the double ended bits. Seems with the full length iFixit hex there is more surface area for the magnet Wish the HOTO had some sort of textured grip to it. Not bad for $16
Price has gone back up to the normal 30USD, but a few discounts currently get it to around 22. gonna see if this is worth every one of my 2200 pennies, really hope it is
Odd that these mini bits aren't a uniform size... I have a couple of sets and they all work together so must have just been lucky. Thanks for the review!
I did that with his first Olight video. Went to their site, saw an orange i5 on clearance for little money, and it's rechargeable, then instantly bought it. Wish they offered more of their lights in orange. Same goes for their smaller knife that Doc reviewed.
Good evening sir. Wanted to see if you could do a video on a multi bit screwdriver brand called Picquik. They have several sizes including stubby ones real stubby. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by them. There magnetic holder is really strong. Love your content keep up the great work...
i like how the whole handle feels but im not impressed with the bits at all. theyre soft and will warp on you with ever so slightest loosening of screws

Doc , your videos make me want to buy tools I have no use for 😂
I'm sure you will find a use for the tool if you have it. Love you shorts by the way. Keep it up!

That’s his job lol
Thank you for this! I got one for my grandpa and myself! This feels so great to use!
I ordered the red one too . Will be using it for knives and guns and smaller fixes .
I was lucky enough to buy them when they were at 19.99 with a 50% discount, I bought all 3 colors. Quite aesthetic but functional.

That’s great about the Klein bit replacement, hopefully we’ll get to see a follow up with the new one. It was a sharp looking kit.
Hello again Doc
Thank you for another Great Video.
I see those PB swiss rainbow hexes you tease
you got me there.
That’s a pretty slick little deal. I don’t use precision drivers much, except for the kids toys occasionally. I’m not big into messing with electronics. Might be nice for my brothers, though.
Neat little driver very space age looking, nice that Klein got a hold of you!

Great review. Just bought one. Thanks!
Pretty good lookin' driver handle!👍

They are on sale right now. Got the turquoise for $15 on Amazon
Unless I've missed it, I would love to see a shop tour!
can be had on prime day sale for about 12 bucks right now

You could add cold shrink to the handle to get your resistance if needed.

Just picked up on a lighting deal for $12

It is slippery. But good call with the iFixit bit in the Hoto.
@@lastbesttool
I’m gonna try some heat shrink grip on it and see what that does!
This is going to look cool standing with the knives in a case where it will be used quite a bit . I ll need more t 6 s and t8 s for sure , lol
Nice and compact addition to your Veto maybe.
Probably. The good stuff seems to find a home in the Veto.
Price has gone back up to the normal 30USD, but a few discounts currently get it to around 22. gonna see if this is worth every one of my 2200 pennies, really hope it is
is it still holding up?
Odd that these mini bits aren't a uniform size... I have a couple of sets and they all work together so must have just been lucky. Thanks for the review!
They are. It's Klein that's the odd one out here.
SNAP-ON TOOLS SINCE 1920 👍
Is the body of the screwdriver aluminum?
ok,,on order before the end of your vid!
I paid about this much for a Craftsman micro bit set and driver about 20 years ago.
I did that with his first Olight video. Went to their site, saw an orange i5 on clearance for little money, and it's rechargeable, then instantly bought it. Wish they offered more of their lights in orange. Same goes for their smaller knife that Doc reviewed.

I took a look at it and it seemed like a good idea. I don't have one, but will consider it. Thanks.
Can this be used for Ikea assembly?
Hey Doc, what about these pretty PB Swiss L-Keys you´ve got over there? They got my interest the whole video
I love them even though they are only a few days old. Stay tuned...
Currently only 19.99 and coupon available for an additional %25 off. :D
i like how the whole handle feels but im not impressed with the bits at all. theyre soft and will warp on you with ever so slightest loosening of screws
Tky Doc
It's hoto... There is no letter u in it lol. But thanks for the video. Very good.
Looks like it's up to $30 for now
Well inflation worked the price up to 40$... but go one on sale at $30...
❤️
James Bond🤷🏼….I was thinkin more B2 missile rack🤙🏼
$26 today.
👍👍
The way the bits come out reminds me of the scene in The Rock where Cage pulls out the VX Gas glass spheres: ua-cam.com/video/j5Nwct9rKFY/v-deo.html
Hoto isn't that gay in Spanish
Lol it’s the derogatory term for gay man
