Very Palms Springs! Love it! Noticed flags at half staff for President Carter RIP. Great way to start my day, coffee and a vlog from Steve. Thank you. Have a good day. So glad you are getting stronger take care. You mean a lot to alot of people. 🧡💛💚💙
I too remember tht visitor center being a gas station! It's a fav of mine too. Just "love" super modern architecture! Steve u always "touch" on the best stuff in your videos! 👉🏻👁️💚
Always love the creative reuse of a building in a time when people would think it would be easier just to tear it down and build something new in the name of progress. The new seating area would make a nice place to relax as your electric vehicle was charging . Thanks for the tour! 💙 Paul
I agree with you, Paul. Too many historic buildings are torn down when they could be reused like this one. That’s one of the things I love about Palm Springs. We really love our history. And now that you mention it, that makes a lot of sense that they would create this nice seating area for people waiting for their cars to charge. 😎👍
@ Gas stations would normally be considered throwaway buildings, but in my neighborhood two former stations were converted to quick service restaurants. One is now a salad bar and the other is an enchilada & soup restaurant. All without tearing the buildings down.
“YESSSSSSS!” ⬅️ this is what I say loudly in my head (and sometimes verbally out loud, lol) every time I see the Visitors Center on the right as I’m entering into Palm Springs. 💜☀️🌴👍
Hi Steve...well the design and construction of the building is definitely interesting and different.....I can't believe it was a gas station...very artsie. .thanks.... Deborah 🇨🇦
Thank you Steve, you showed so many interesting features that was fascinating!! Love the architecture and the blending of the beautiful landscaping. Very 👍.😊
Thanks for the tour Steve! Ironically I was in Palm Springs for the first time in early January and the Visitor’s Center was one of the places I visited. Your videos inspired me to visit and I’ll definitely be back. Best to you and Jim in 2025!
Great tour, Steve. I really enjoy the video one day. I’m going to get a nice Palm Springs hoodie. They had a visitor center. Keep up the great work. You’re making me want to move out there with every video I watch ❤😊
As always, this is an excellent video! It made my lunchtime afternoon very pleasant. In today's world, we need a lot of pleasantries! You are a gift and treat to us all!!
Guess I didn't see this some in so to speak a couple days ago. I barely remember that place; haven't been up to the tramway since I was a lot younger. Thanks for the video!
@@steveinpalmspringsca Big events in my life in 60s. HS grad then college all the problems. Saw great speakers: Timothy Leary, Benjamin Spock, James Taylor came to URI from the Vineyard just to hang out.
Thank you for bringing us along! As a side note, you are NOT creepy! 😂 Don't know if anyone has ever told you this but in addition to your content being enjoyable me and my wife find your voice soothing. Hope you and Jim are doing well ❤
My sister's coming to PS in February for "Modernism Week". I'll be out there to see her while she attends that event. Guessing this will be on the list of events that weekend. (?) Since my brother lives in PS, it'll be a little family reunion for us! Thanks, Steve!
Yes, the modernism bus goes there and stops in the parking lot. It sounds like you were going to have a fun visit. If you see me on the streets filming and say hi. 😎👍
Wow, that building has had many purposes. I love to see that! Were you able to get a book? I didn't notice you grabbing one. If not, I'm sure that you can find one at the bookstore, museum etc. Have a great weekend guys! Peace...
This is so cool! I love mid-century architecture. It just occurred to me that if I go visit my family in So. California, a side trip to Palm Springs should be do-able! I want to see all the beautiful buildigns and flowers and trees and everything. Is it possible to see Frank Sinatra's home there?
Sinatra’s Palm Springs Home is not indicated community so you can definitely park on the street and go up and read the historic plaque at the front of the home and then also go to the back and there’s another historic plaque at the back gate of the home. Enjoy your visit. 😎👍
i wish i could have a tshirt because they are reto looking and there is a old gasstation i lookright out my window patio doors EVERYDAYand painted neon green and yellow just like this mustve been a dino station yrs ago im in bellevue nebr on fort crook rd its a car fixup shop now
I thought I did in this video. 🤔 I also visited the Korea Indian Museum in downtown Palm Springs last year. I made an entire video about it. Unfortunately, my grandson Mason asked me to delete the video for personal reasons. I did, so I will visit the museum again without him in the future. 😄👍
That design looks like a old Amoco , I could be wrong , there were a few of these proprietary designs built here in Oz , the thinking is if you were loyal to the chain drivers could recognise from a far whilst travelling. Now it's more generic sadly .

Yes rest in peace President 😊Carter.
Thanks, Cindy, that’s nice to hear. 😄👍
Thanks for this tour.😊
Such a stunning building. The city made a wise decision to essentially make it the entry to the city.
I totally agree 😎👍
The hard edge design of that building sure matches the time period.
Steve your videos are awesome like you!! 😎👍🌴🌅
Thank you so much! I appreciate it Linda! 😄👍
Thank you, palm springs is a paradise
It sure is Elaine 😎👍
Thanks for rhis nice tour.😊
Glad you enjoyed it! 😎👍
I had no clue it was a gas station! How cute. That's where I go for the hiking membership
You are a fantastic ambassador for Palm Springs!
Happiest New Years wishes Steve,Jim, Mason & Masons Mom! I’m praying for everyone affected by the terrible fires !

What a cool place has a jetsons vibe.
The red flowers are exquisite. I have seen them in Phoenix. Nice stop off..💜❤️
Thank you, Steve!❤
I love mid-century architecture
Love the video. Interesting, shaped building. Beautiful gift shop. Very pretty day outside. Thank you for the wonderful video. You and Jim take care.
Glad you enjoyed it Maria!
I loved this! This was a good way to see some things I didn't get to see. Steve is informative.
I have been to the visitor center before and love it! Thank you so much for this amazing video!!!
First to like from Gettysburg Penna
It's so beautiful there here it's always gray and overcast love you Steve ❤❤
The sunshine definitely is the thing I love most about Palm Springs. Sorry, we are hogging all the sunshine here in California Alex. 😎

Hi Ken, fantastic! Glad you got to visit. Too bad our paths didn’t cross!
One of my favorite buildings in PS. Haven't been in a couple of years so I will have to go for a visit. Thank you for the tour!
I did the tramway last year around this time, by far the best part of our trip to southern CA.
Glad you got to visit 😎👍
What an interesting presentation Steve. I really like this video, especially your account of the history of the Visitor’s Center.
Thanks S! 😄👍

Nice. 😊
Great tour Steve! I wonder what they use the amphitheater for, maybe during Mod Week?
Thanks and yes, I was thinking the same thing!

Hi Stacy. Yes, I got the book I was looking for. I plan to share it in a future video. 😄👍

I enjoyed this video very much. I know you aren't directly affected by the horrible fires in the LA area, but are you having any smoke problems?
No smoke yet. 🤞

Thanks for sharing that Gary. The gas station here was called Esso. I wonder if the architect was influenced by the Amoco gas stations?
I HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL FROM THAT WILDFIRE
Thanks Paco. We are a couple of hours away, so fortunately it hasn’t affected us yet. 🤞
