    Great video!
    One pro tip I found on the interwebs...
    I routed the intake back to inside... That way you are heating already warm air from inside the RV instead of cold (potentially frozen) outside air.
    Makes a huge difference in fuel usage.

    • @OutOfThisVan
      @OutOfThisVan  6 місяців тому

      Wow never thought of that. Thanks for the tip!

      The outside air intake is for your combustion air, and the manual on my Webasto says clearly not to take this air from the passenger compartment. It would create an interior vacuum, pulling in outside (cold) air from every crack in the van to fill what is lost out the exhaust pipe, so it wouldn't actually save fuel.
      There is a separate air intake inside the cab that takes the interior air to reheat. It's sized for the ductwork and this should be kept indoors.

    Narrowed down heating option to Webasto because of the existing fuel port on the Promasters. A couple of new things learned in this video: 1. Heat shield removal was not necessary (thank goodness) 2. To add extra height, use wood piece before adapter plate. Smart!! Thank you and happy travels!

    On the subject of the mice in the van. I put dryer sheets in different places under the van and around the engine compartment to keep the little critters at bay. I assume they don't like the smell or they get the idea humans are in the area. Had some in the engine compartment of our Mini and since the sheets are in, haven't seen any evidence of mice. Inexpensive and worth a try.

    • @OutOfThisVan
      @OutOfThisVan  2 роки тому +1

      We’ve heard that works well for many people! Luckily we haven’t run into any more mice recently but in areas where they’re more common, we sprinkle some cayenne pepper around the tires and that seems to do the trick.

    GASOLINE RIGHT? NOT DIESEL...........RIGHT?
    Ps....... The reason they made that plate out of metal and not out of plastic or wood is because that exhaust pipe gets damn near glowing red right near the unit right exactly where you have that one I realize this is a year after you made this video but in case you smell woodburning occasionally that could be why❤️🇺🇸

    • @OutOfThisVan
