Good evening, I may have a custom installation that I would like for you to consider doing. A VW type 3 Squareback... The engine has been rebuilt and the heaters stripped out. The Webesto may be a possible fix to get quality heat into this beast. I’m not sure if the unit could fit underneath the rear seat. One of the spaces under the rear seats houses the battery... The other space is empty.... I called and left a VM with my phone number at your office. Please call me back when convenient. I can’t always answer because of my work, but please keep trying.
We custom pack a kit specifically for Gas Sprinter, Gas Transit & Diesel Sprinter. Check out video #2. You can see the Gas Sprinter kit on our site here: www.vmacs.net/collections/webasto-airtops-air-heater-kits/products/van-life-webasto-2kw-gasoline-air-heater-kit-for-promaster-and-sprinter-90-3-0004?_pos=1&_sid=fe881c90c&_ss=r
I'm considering installing this unit in a Four Wheel Pop Up Camper Project M. Camper will be part time on a 2017 Toyota Tacoma DCLB. Have you had other Tacoma customers? Any concerns/considerations I should take into account? Also since the camper will not be on the truck full time, I need a way to safely disconnect and cap both the feul and exhaust lines/hose. Do you have a kit for that?
Thank you for your question. We welcome custom projects! Please email me with additional details and some example pictures of your rig and what your goal is. Make sure to include your contact info.
Can the gas version be mounted 90 degrees on the horizontal axis? I have a perfect spot for mine but it's on a side wall. I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere for the pertrol version (not diesel). You're expertise would be appreciated on mounting.
Fault codes are displayed via the light in the center of the control knob. If a fault is present, the light will flash in a series. If no fault is present, the light is steady on while the heater is turned on. A table for decoding the flashes is included in the owners documentation that comes with the kit. An upgrade to the optional Smartemp 3.0 digital thermostat is available by installing an adapter harness and the digital control.
Follow the lockout/reset procedure on page 35 of the installation manual that came with your heater kit. This will clear most codes and reset any active fault-lockout.
To my knowledge only the full size Transit has the auxiliary port on the fuel tank. There are some Ford Transit forums that would be a better source of information.
I am in a desperate situation. I bought a Webasto from Europe and tried to install it today. The digital controller does not respond. The manual controller works fine. Any idea what it should be? Oh by the way, when I give power to the digital controller it does turn on, but doesn't turn on when I connect it to the 4 wire connector. I hope someone can help. Thanks.
Send me a pic of the white label on the side of the heater. Make sure the whole label is in the frame and the serial number is visible. emailus@vmacs.net
Thank you for your question. The basic hose needed is in this kit. There are additional lengths of hose in some of the optional accessory kits we offer with silencers and mufflers. Additionally, the basic intake and exhaust hose is available in different lengths.
Generally not a good idea but it depends on the vehicle. If the fuel line is pressurized, the engine fuel system may push fuel right through the heater, severely flooding it and dumping the fuel directly out the heater onto the ground. It's best practice to give the heater its own supply from the tank.
@@duggydugg3937 Not recommended. Can you run a separate tank? Most fuel injection pumps are located inside the tank to keep them from overheating. Also, fuel injection pumps pump at much higher pressure and can easily burst regular fuel line or push past valves. Needless to say, you do not want gas spraying inside your van and have the heater ignition system light it up. If you have an external vehicle fuel pump you can maybe put in a T fitting but have to reduce it to fit the Webasto fuel line. That could get tricky, sloppy, dangerous and costly compared to doing it the right way.
That’s the best video on this topic I’ve seen. Thank you
Thank you for the compliment!
Great video ,thank you for sharing ,big hugs from MN
Thanks a lot for the detailed info, much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
This really helped me know what’s in the unit, thanks a bunch for making this!
Glad it helped!
Great job with the kits examples
Thanks!
Great video, thanks for taking the time to make. Do you ship to Canada?
Thank you for the kind words Daryll! We do ship to Canada.

Have you prepared a kit yet for the newer gasoline Sprinters?

Gasoline heaters are recommended to install with the exhaust port pointing down. Diesel heaters have more flexibility with installation orientation.
Can a digital thermostat controller be used? If not, how do you read and clear fault codes?

Follow the lockout/reset procedure on page 35 of the installation manual that came with your heater kit. This will clear most codes and reset any active fault-lockout.
Do you know if the Ford Transit Connect also has the auxiliary fuel filter for the fuel tap kit you offer or is it only for the Ford Transit?
