    Nice heather, my Safari Condo on a ProMaster 3500 has a Webasto comes standard with a 7950 BTU and I got the optional 13,000 BTU, I like the dry heat it produces. Again guys, I find you folks honest and genuine, best wishes and keep those drone pictures coming in.

      Oh wow! you are set on the BTU's!! Do you have any advice about daily use? Have you used it in higher elevations? Any problems with it clogging up? Our heater is gas and does high elevation kit is not available like the espar heaters. Drone pictures are a must for us! We just got back from backpacking in the Wind River Range in Wyoming where drones were not allowed......in fact, if you were caught with a drone in your presence you would be fined. WE TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD!! The area was so prestine....you would not want a drone buzzing by! But oh my the drone shots would have been out of this world!!

      one adVANture at a time Hi, I got the Webasto Air Top Evo 40 (gasoline version) and according to specs it is self adjusting up to 2,200 meters www.webasto.com/fileadmin/webasto_files/documents/international/hd/data-sheet/heavy-duty-datasheet-air-top-evo-40-55.pdf. The 7950 BTU model is named Air Top 2000 STC and there is a procedure to adjust it for elevated areas, search on the Webasto web site and you will find it.

    • @paul_desjardins
      @paul_desjardins 4 роки тому

      one adVANture at a time. To avoid clogging up you should run your Webasto once in a while so that gas does not dry up, even in the summer.

    Really glad you guys decided to upgrade the heater. I continue to debate with myself to this day whether I should have gone with a webasto or espar instead of going the propex/propane direction. It’s definitely convenient to not need to worry about propane, and when I originally did the planning, I was not thinking that we would end up with the under-the-van propane tank that we have, which was a significant additional expense (tank plus needing to then find a new home for the spare tire). The other thing I did not consider was the built in nipple for accessing the fuel tank - I didn’t realize that existed, and assumed we’d be punching holes in the van’s gas tank. The thing that originally won me over to the propex side was the worry-free high altitude operation, which I certainly do appreciate. The other thing I really like about our propex is the fact that we were able to mount it under the van (it’s the HS2211 model) so that we didn’t need to worry about seat removal etc. It’s also extremely neat having all the ducting under the van. All in all, I probably would have gone the webasto route if I had been aware of all of the factors and costs, but I do love our propex. Again, congrats!

    I have a Webasto 2000 STC Petrol. It has coked twice. The first time I serviced it, I installed a new burner assembly (~$150, and that was probably not necessary). The 2nd time I used carb cleaner and a map torch to clean the burner assembly. I don’t think the glow pin is much of a concern (and that can be tested with a 12v power source). What is a concern is that the heater will have to be serviced periodically. That means deinstalled and disassembled and cleaned. I recommend you have a new set of gaskets on hand. This will allow you to service your heater without delay. You will know the heater needs servicing when you see white smoke upon startup. Cleaning the heater is not hard. Webasto has a UA-cam for disassembly and assembly of the 2000 ST Diesel, which is almost identical to the petrol.

    Wow cool your going to love having that! By the way we we’re all told to put premium fuel in our tanks by most installer....and well I had some issues with my wabasto install and got the name of the very best of the wabasto guy in Montreal. This guy checked everything about my install and he had to reinstall a 4th temperature control because it was not installed properly !!! And I told him I was putting only the highest octane fuel in for my wabasto and he said: Why? You don’t have to do that!!! It’s mostly the ethanol content that you have to check.
    I wish I had known this last year before I drove 28000 km across the US🤬.
    And he said that you have to really start that thing on full blast for at least 1/2 an hour and then you can lower it down but then before turning it off another full blast for 30 minutes it makes sure you don’t build creosote..And if you use it a little in altitude like just a couple of days you just run it full blast to clean it when you get back down.
    Take care xxx

      Hi Shirley. We ordered it as an add-on with the initial order so it did come in the same box. The muffler makes it easy to add on an extension exhaust hose on as well. We did this because we didn't want exhaust fumes coming in the van door and also to space it out from the intake hose. We ran it to the driver's side of the van. I hope this helps you. 😎 We are loving our heater.

    A few things:
    1 - Your disclaimer at the beginning isn't exactly true, but what is a larger concern is buying from Heatso and other off-shore companies. Heatso will do NOTHING to help you if you have a warranty claim. Then your life is harder.
    2 - Kits that are sold outside of the US don't have some components that are included in the US kit, one of them is super important (see point 3)
    3 - The floor that you bolted the heater to isn't flat, there are raised and lowered sections. That rubber gasket on the bottom of the heater won't seal against that. That could cause exhaust gas to enter the cabin. You could wake up dead.
    The 4" hole is less painful than exhaust gasses leaking in. That mounting plate allows you to use a gasket that makes up for the uneven floor surface.
    4 - Those clamps on the 1/4" fuel line will cause air to leak into the fuel line, and cause the heater to not start, giving you a code 1 or 2. ONLY use the webasto clamps. You can ditch the 1/4" hose and use a simple hose webasto sells (P/N 1319718A and 1310763A for the clamp).
    5 - Altitude adjustment. Sorry, you wrong on the altitude adjustment. Do a search for VMACS youtube channel. He is an ACTUAL webasto dealer and has correct info.
