The ceramic v rod is 40°, that's for a Victorinox knife. Since this knife likely has a smaller sharpening angle, the ceramic v rod will do not much good. But i have to say, it works like a charm on victorinox knives. By the way, you can make a longer handle from that plastic sheath, just put it over the v rod and you can use the sharpener much more effective.
Thanks for showing that Paddy. That looks like a great EDC sharpener. It is an overgrown pen but looks real easy to carry. Really liked the way it sharpened. Great video.
The rod is used first and then run lightly through the ceramic and it comes out very sharp. Mr. Sharp reviews it And it comes out razor sharp and no stroping. I was surprised you didn’t use a Swiss Army knife. They get like razors and if you strope it takes maybe 5 minutes to do a knife from start to finish.
You sharpen it primarily with the blue stone and then you finish it with the ceramic rods. I have one I have had it for a few months and can make anything sharp except for something fat, (1/4 inch thick) like a Becker bk2, it is too wide to get into the ceramic part. But for fast and on the go this is really the way to do it.
The white ceramic on the pull through is quite fine probably why it wouldn’t restore the edge as quickly as the coarser stone part I love that sharpener too one of the first ones i bought.
Nice little sharpener Steven. I’ve been eyeing it for a while. I’m wondering if the idea is to start on the diamond and use the ceramic to finish up on...just a thought. Thanks👍 Rex
That’s cool Paddy. I’ve yet to see this sharpener. I bought a sharpener called block sharpener and it works well. It’s quick and easy and all I have to do is run the blade between the two sharpening rods. Looks like a chefs sharpening rods. It’s two of those that cross each other and it gets the job done as well. Thanks Paddy for the review. TTYL ✌🏽
the blue ceramic is a 360 grit and the white V ceramic is a 1000 grit you are suppose to use the coarse ceramic to establish a bur and then use the finer V pull through ceramic to finish the edge. If you use the pull through ceramic on a very dull knife. it will sharpen your knife, but it will take you a month lol but if you prefer you can also use the coarse blue ceramic rod on its own, some people prefer the tooth-i-er edge you get from a coarser grit.
I like the look of the stone, any idea what kind of grit it is? As you know I like to argue, the 1st locking Leatherman was the original Supertool in 1994, I had a mate who was an agent for Whitby Knives who I think were the original ditributors for LM in the UK. He sold me an original PST in the late '80s which I used to death, when he told me the supertool was coming out I ordered one immediately so I had one of the first to come into the Uk in '94, the Pulse didn't come out 'til 2000. I gave my old PST to a mate who was travelling around the world but I still have my Supertool, it's a bit knackered but I still use it regularly after dropping it in the sea more than once and off the top of a six story building, the knife steel on them is rubbish compared to what we have now but it always does the job. The RR is still up there as a favourite, such a sweet knife.
I wish Rough Rider would have continued producing that swayback knife. They are extinct now. Make something decent at a fair price, and then abruptly stop..... I don't get that. Great video Paddy!
@jp stone they have brought out a new version pal with blue denim micarta handles it's gorgeous but sold out everywhere I looked but coming back in soon iv been told ✋
Great little tool, and a great video. I suspect the pull through is at a steeper angle than you use freehand. I've run into that with other field sharpeners.
Hello. I have often thought about buying this but never seen one in shops at less than 20 quid. And each time i have bought a knife instead. Lol. All the best.
@@paddyspotatopeelers2154 i know, here too. I hate watching you purposely destroy the edge on the blades. I tend to skip over that part. It's like cattle and steak. Always impressed to see a pasture full of steers and I truly appreciate a good steak on the plate but don't want to see or think about the steer passing through the slaughterhouse! Thanks for the review of the Vic sharpener. I'll need to check it out! Looking forward to the follow up!
Yeah I've also never seen a pull thru work myself. Though I wonder.. Might it have worked if you used the stone first and then the ceramic, then strop? Isn't that the order? Going from diamond blunted straight to ceramic I don't know if I should be surprised it didn't work.

I have one as part of my EDC kit too. For something the size of a pen, it's small but brilliant.

Looks like a pretty useful pocket sharpener!! Thanks for showing it to us Paddy!
the shell of the sharpening rod is also intended as a handle when you put it on the side of the ceramic sharpener.👍
Told you I'd never seen a video on it. Lol. Atb paddy 👍☘️😀
I love my victorinox dule knife sharpener works very well love it thanks paddy
I left the UK years ago, and when I did I took one of those with me. It was my only sharpener for 2 years. It was good enough for what I wanted.
Great to hear thank you. I'm so impressed with it. Atb paddy 👍☘️😀
I ordered it. All my EDC are inexpensive knives that I love. I don’t need pricey ones because for what I use them for they’re perfect. ✌🏻
Great back to the roots I love your sharpening videos . Nice leatherman :)
That’s a great little sharpener! Also a great little knife. I love mine.

I have one also. Paddy you use the sleeve as a handle. Put it on the small end you are holding, and than you have a bigger holder for you hand! 😊
