    My TYM 234 HST has 750 hours on it. I've had the front loader arms crack off twice. I added steel and bracing to the tractor and so far, so good. The backhoe separated from the tractor the first hour of use, and then I welded up a new bracket to attack it to the rear center pin. Now it stays on. During use, 3 of the bearing posts of the backhoe failed and I welded them back on with additional metal, which has worked well so far. The rear upper attachment of the backhoe to the transmission then broke into little pieces, I had to weld up a beefer bracket. At 700 hours, the main frame cracked and the tractor about folded in half, and cracked the plastic seat surround (the body as in were that in most tractors is steel) was destroyed. Total parts are $2500 to restore it to service. I did all the work. took me about 50 yours total to disassemble and reassemble the unit. I am done with TYM products. This machine could have killed me more than a few times, I feel lucky. I am going to unload this thing as soon as I can find a buyer.

    I realize I'm a little late to the party but thought I'd relay my FIRST HAND experience with a TYM T503. We bought a 2010 model with a 125 hours on it in 2013 from a neighbor. I only considered the TYM because it still had half of the 5 year warranty and the Caterpillar (actually Perkins) motor. Before the purchase I talked with a Caterpillar mechanic working on our Caterpillar wheel loader at work and he relayed that he and most of the mechanics he works with had a great deal of respect for this motor.....which they refer to as a Perka-Pillar. Actually made by Perkins but branded as a Caterpillar so CAT would have a small engine for it's smaller equipment- skid loaders, excavators, etc. The mechanic said there were a lot of applications using this engine and it had proven itself to be super reliable. That sealed the deal for us.
    Now in 2020 the hour meter reads almost 1300 hours. Those hours have been accumulated taking care of our 40 acre farm. Each summer we cut, tedd, rake and square bale about 20 acres. Sometimes one cutting sometimes 2 cuttings. I run a 6 foot drum mower with no issues. It's not flat ground and I never run out of power. I could go a lot faster but the tractor is light enough that I bounce around more than my body can take ...and it's hard on the tractor. I mow between 5-6 MPH with the drum mower. It has a front end loader and I regularly carry large round bales (one on the front and one on the back at the same time) through mud and muck and snow ...whatever the NW Missouri winter throws at us.
    We also run a hydraulic post driver on this tractor.
    In short, we use it for a bunch of different applications and we use it hard. To date it has done everything that you could ask a 50HP (40 PTO) tractor to do.
    As of this writing the only issues I've had was with the alternator, the air conditioner and the dash mounted push button PTO switch. The alternator was an easy rebuild. The PTO switch was easy to replace. The AC compressor went out with about 975 hours. They want almost $1,000 for the compressor! That is robbery. I can sweat a lot for $1,000. So that's what I've done....out of principle. I did just find the compressor locally for $350 which I find reasonable so I'll get it working again this summer.
    Mechanically the tractor has been very reliable and served us well. Cosmetically the tractor looks like hell. Even though it is shed kept the paint on the loader has faded to almost pink. The red plastics (fenders and cab roof) are super faded and the hood, which I believe to be fiberglass, has lost over half it's paint. I'm not too worried however, as we will keep this until the wheels fall off and by then we it won't matter what it looks like. It's a tool not a collector's item. At some point when I have time I'd like to restore an old tractor.....but it will be an older, American made machine. This one I'll worry about the cosmetics.
    Would I buy another one? Based on my experience I wouldn't hesitate! That said, at some point and time they changed engines and I do not believe they come with the Perkins anymore. Someone will have to fact check this statement. If this statement is indeed true I would have to first obtain a level of comfort with the new motors. The chassis, transmission, drive train however, has also very much proven itself to me and that is half the concern.
    If however, the time comes that I need to replace the tractor and I'm able to find a low time T503 or T723 with the Cat/Perkins motor I would not hesitate!!

    Just took delivery of a Branson tractor.
    Everything looking really good. (of course... its new)
    It is actually cheaper than the closest version Kubota, but heavier with higher max lift height on the loader.
    I chose not to add any optional hydraulics until I find out I need them. Current price of adding 3rd function and rear hydraulics is lower than to add the same functions to Kubota...
    I definitely prefer the 2 pedals side by side for hydrostatic drive vs the rocker pedal in the Kubota.
    .
    Comparing to Kubota because that is the most popular brand in this area, so it was the easiest to compare.
    .
    First time owning a tractor, not the first I have operated.

    Bought the T234 w/loader from Cody & his dad Carl. I'm one those move from the city to an acreage, & my TYM tractor has moved piles of dirt, just finished laying down 50 ton of 2 & 3 inch rock as a base for my new driveway plus spreading rock on neighbor's driveways. Everthing I've done with it has in reality been fun and effortless. Cody/Carl are excellent, sales & service as well as my little TYM.

    I did a lot of research before I bought my tractor and I decided on a new 2015 Branson 3520H. I still have it and it's a great tractor. I am now in the preliminary stages of relocating to Tennessee and will sell my 3520H here in Colorado, and buy a new 55HP version of probably the Tym when I get to Tennessee, as long as it's the same tractor as the Branson. I love my Kukje and will only buy a Kukje in the future.
    For a little background, I grew up on a 2000 acre farm and 8,640 acre ranch and we used John Deere tractors with the smallest ones being 3630s and the largest being 8-wheeled, articulating 8630s. I don't need anything anywhere near that large now for my little homestead. The Branson 3520H was perfect when I bought it in late 2015, but since I am getting a new one, I'm going larger for more lift capacity, a larger, longer backhoe, and I'm getting a cab this time.
    For you Eastern Tennessee dealers, or those relatively nearby, I'll be looking for a new 55HP Kukje with a cab, FEL and backhoe, and I'm also going to be in the market for a good zero-turn mower with something like a 60" deck. Probably going to want to buy them both at the same time.

    I'm a proud owner of a Branson 2016 3520H. I've operated equipment before but this is my first tractor. We purchased 10 acres and needed one. As he said in the video, the Branson is a HEAVY tractor. For comparison:
    The John Deere 3038E (36 horsepower) weighs 2175 lbs (the entire tractor is made by Yanmar).
    The Kubota B3350SU (33 horsepower) weighs 1874 lbs.
    My Branson 3520H (35 horsepower) weighs 4053 lbs.
    That extra beef translates into a helluva lot more traction and ballast.

    • @kreisenmenger
      @kreisenmenger 6 років тому +2

      According to Branson web site a 3520H comes in at 3582 lbs. My 4520R shows 3717 lbs. I could not find the weight of the BL25R Bucket. Even with the Branson weighing more than the competition, I'm glad I had the rear tires filled with fluid. With a bucket full of rock and backing up a hill, I have to keep it in 4WD or a back tire will sometimes start to lose traction.

      I have a 2016 3520H as well. Just used it for the first time a couple days ago to spread some hog fuel and it worked like a dream. It's my first tractor and I love it. The weight, like you said, is a huge advantage over the other brands because it provides stability and anchors the vehicle to the ground so all 35 horses are utilized instead of being wasted spinning the wheels due to loss of traction.

      I don't know who told you that john deere all of it was made in japan not true just the yanmar engine is which John deere has been using the yanmar for the past 30 years and they where the first ones now you got a lot of copy cats you take my John deere 4300 made right in Illinois or I should say assembled lol you got to understand just about all of them far as the engines and etc. are made in others countries and usually you buy anything with a yanmar in it its going to run a higher price. I don't know much about the tym or the Branson but I do know a lot about tractors In general work on them all my life. They look like good tractors. But there Is a tractor that is coming forward and they have been here for awhile but they are just now gaining traction and it is even got John deere scared that is saying something not even kobata has John deere scared. But the, Kioti does and it is a dam good tractor

    • @horseblinderson4747
      @horseblinderson4747 5 років тому +2

      The entire tractor is made by Yanmar, all they do here is injection mould the fancy green plastic panels they love so much slap their branding badge stickers on them and assemble it. One it gets them passed the percentage needed to also throw a made in America sticker on them also.
      Two most of the damage incurred in shipping was to the former "tins" they used to put on. Now they just snap the plastic ones on once they get here.
      This is true the world over there's at least a half dozen John Deere plants in Germany alone. Saves them the tariff a good portion of those tractors actually come back here to America. Almost all of the Deere specialty line is produced by Same Deutz Fahr, it's why they look like Lamborghinis they also look like the low profile and narrow lines from New Holland, they all just get different cowlings and paint jobs.
      Even Ford was made in Japan at the end there I believe by Iseki.
      Not saying any of them are bad, but when you make decisions like aluminum rear ends and plastic panels so that you can stuff a 40 foot ISO container wall to wall floor to ceiling front to back rather than having to stop at 20 units on weight when you could get at least another half dozen in there if you just made them lighter it's rather telling.

    My dad has a Branson 2910, its not the worst, its not the best, buts its been great for dad, and has done everything he has asked from it, and with no problems. So that's a Win in my book. He's had his for years. Myself, I'm looking into Kioti, cause of the lift capacity of the loader. But the Branson was a good deal, with good dealer support for pops, and did what he needs it to do.

I am strongly leaning towards the 2400 based on the close proximity of support, 30 miles vs 200 miles. The local Case dealer mentioned he might start carrying the Yanmar. Is the 2400 worth it?

    Find the tractor with the features you need from a reputable dealer. A good dealership is a must. A good tractor from a bad/lazy dealer will be a great tractor. Conversely, a good tractor from a bad dealer will have you thinking that you have a mediocre tractor.

      I'll put that on the list. They're great on level ground but can be scary on slopes and anywhere that's been bulldozed and there are holes where the tree roots came out. I can tell you that from the first time dad ever let me drive a tractor and I drove the Oliver 70 through one of those. If I hadn't hit the hole dead center (the front went down and the back wheels went around on the edges of the hole) we might have rolled over. I could tell by the expression on my dad's face that we had just escaped some pretty serious danger. From that point forward I paid a little more attention to where I was going.

    The best time is now before the next inflationary price increase. A global market no longer revolves around the seasons as a local market does. Global market prices are less stable and the price today may be lower than the "sale" price at the next tractor show. You may get a better discount percentage wise at the end of the local season, but the MSRP may have increased more than the discount while you were sitting and waiting for the sale.

    Another great vid Mike. Could you explain sometime about the different PTO rpm speeds and how to use them. I have a lever for either 540 / 790 RPM, and different engine rpm areas for each on my tachometer. The only attachment I have so far that uses the PTO is a bush hog, and I've just kind of played it by ear and how well it was cutting. I plan to get a post hole digger and would like your down to earth explanation of this whole PTO RPM speed thing.

    • @TractorMike
      @TractorMike  6 років тому +1

      Karl, great idea. I'm not sure when you'd use the 790 RPM setting, there must be somewhere else in the world that runs implements at that speed, or it's some sort of economy PTO, or "overdrive" for PTO which you see on some tractors. Does the owner's manual explain the 790? I'll put that topic on the list to do in the future, there seems to be some confusion about 540 RPM PTO.

    • @briangc1972
      @briangc1972 5 років тому +2

      The tach should show a mark for the two PTO speeds. The 790 RPM is for low torque PTO implements (finish mowers etc). It allows a person to run the engine at a lower speed (saving fuel) and still get 540 RPM at the PTO. Branson renamed their 790 to 540e. 540e for 540 RPM economy mode. 1/4 Lower engine speed saves fuel and still runs the PTO fast enough to operate the implement properly.
      (READ YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL)

      Certain stuff like filters you'd be better off just getting at Auto zone if you can find counter help that's more astute than "egggh, what make model and year of car do you got" stuff like lines and fittings would be better going through your local hydraulics shop. Panels get a glue gun welder and some metal working tools basically leaves brakes and clutch which if I were to get one I'd take in luie of a rotary cutter or some other implement on a package deal.
      As far as actual parts availability I've not any experience but I looked up their Rome dealer and they had pictures of what liked like well stocked parts shelves and a high end model split doing a clutch, probably some tosser who doesn't know not to ride the clutch, or a dude who doesn't know you really shouldn't have to nor should you want to drive a tractor like a sports car.

      To the best of my knowledge, there are no small tractors actually made in the USA. Kubota, Yanmar, JD, Massey Ferguson are made in Japan. I'm not sure where CaseIH / New Holland make theirs. Essentially all of the small tractors are made in Japan, South Korea, India, and China. I'm sure that someone who knows better will tell that abc or xyz brand makes them in South America or an Eastern European Country, but the vast majority are from east asia. So your parts will be coming from there.

      Generally, newer tractors have brackets that attach in multiple places so the loader is not trying to break the transmission housing when you use it. I think if you'll look at where the loader mounts you'll be able to tell for sure.

    What's the difference between dual action and floater valves?

    • @fhuber7507
      @fhuber7507 4 роки тому +1

      Non-technical attempt to explain:
      Float is a function that lets the hydraulic cylinder move as pressure is applied. It opens the cylinder on both sides to the discharge.
      Dual action, one side of the cylinder is either open to pressure for moving, or closed for holding position and you can change which side of the cylinder has the pressure.
      Often, both sides of the cylinder will be closed for holding position.
      .
      You almost need diagrams to show exactly what is going on.

    I have a 2018 Branson 4720h they have replaced the front arms for the front end loader one time and need to replace it again there's a lot of places in the arms that are not welded they look welded but not and trying to dig some dirt up to do a bird bath I twisted the arms and the bucket the first time I had to go buy a regular skid steer bucket because they said that the bucket was not meant for doing that.
    also when I'm out bush hogging a field(I have a 6 ft bush hog) and I go through a little Ravine and the tractor twists the radiator fan gets into the shroud it is already took some chunks of the Shroud out and they supposed to have let me know a month ago when I could come in and have the Shroud replace.
    If you're going uphill and let the bucket down it blows the hydraulic fluid out the breather tube in the back which I think is just a poor design..
    Last but not least the worst problem I'm having out of this tractor it's when I'm coming down a hill in 2nd gear it will jump out of gear at times and take off down the hill flying you better make sure you're in 4-wheel drive so you don't lose control of it..
    This is a safety issue and I have reported this over 2 weeks ago no response..
    All I'm getting from the dealership is I am using the tractor for something it was not meant to be used for.
    If it has a front end loader is meant to dig I believe.
    I don't think I'm using the tractor for anything that is not meant to do because I'm doing the same work with this tractor that I was doing with a New Holland tc29d.

    • @briangc1972
      @briangc1972 5 років тому +3

      An excavator is meant to dig. A front end loader is meant to load loose soil into a truck/ trailer. You never see road construction crews using a front end loader for excavation. They have large commercial loaders on hand, but they do not abuse them by trying to dig deep holes in rocks.
      Get the proper bucket and bucket attachments if you want to dig a bird bath.
      I bought the Branson 3725 with FEL and back hoe. I bought a rock bucket from Titan and a root grappler. I switch out as needed. ALWAYS USE The proper tools for the job. You spend $25 to $30K for a tractor then get cheap by not buying the correct bucket or attachment?!?! Spend a couple hundred and get the right bucket for the job. A tip, don't buy the widest bucket for digging. A narrow rock or root bucket will dig many times faster than a wide one that slows or stops the tractor. Work within the limits of the machine and they don't break, they work hard and fast (and last a long time), and the job gets done more quickly.

      maybe you should have asked for equipment to do what you intend rather than use the wrong tool for the job.

      I have a 4720R and have owned it for several years. I haven't had even one of the problems you've mentioned. I've used mine as a bulldozer taking out trees. I've backed up and run into the trees to knock them over. Some 6 inches in diameter or bigger. I've also used pallet forks to pry tree roots out of the ground. Some of the roots were hard enough to get out I would have the back wheels off the ground. With the back wheels off the ground I would use the loader to bounce the back of the tractor up and down to pry the roots out of the ground. You either got a lemon or you're full of it.

    Hi mike can you do some more videos on the tym tractors. I just bought a t394 for snow and i seem to be pleased with it.

      I'd like to. I try to be brand neutral, but I tend to shoot by whatever is easiest to get to. That video was the first time I'd met Cody, and I told him I'd like to utilize his product more so maybe we can make that happen.

    So is a Branson basically the same as an RK?

    • @TractorMike
      @TractorMike  6 років тому +3

      No, an RK is actually a TYM. TYM has purchased the parent company of Branson, but they're two different product lines. TYM is the one making the RK tractors.

    I own a 55 hp tym tractor. Tractor has had to be rewired twice and has been in the shop 21 times in the two years since I bought it new. Tym has been less than helpful in trying to resolve the situation

    • @311hitwall

      You have the 554 and you have had that many problems?

    • @briangc1972
      @briangc1972 5 років тому +1

      That is a distributor issue, not a manufacturer issue. unless you are calling Korea and talking to the factory, you are dealing with the importer. Several importers of products have a problem of not being good in providing proper customer service. The local dealer or service center is also to blame. A competent shop should be able to completely rebuild the tractor and repair anything right the first time.

    • @311hitwall

      Why did it have to rewired and what was it in the shop for all those times?

    JOHN DEERE you get what you pay for and you can ALWAYS get parts for them. It will not matter 3 years to 35years old they can get you the part you need. Caseih and New Holland number 2 for parts.

    • @tfhummer
      @tfhummer 6 років тому +3

      You do realize Case IH and New Holland tractors are built by TYM, as is Kioti, Montana, Mahindra, Branson, and a bunch more. Mind you not every model but most every model is under 100 hp. That being said I can put a New Holland part right on my TYM same tractor

    • @joshriddle4797
      @joshriddle4797 6 років тому +5

      tfhummer Kioti is not built by tym. They are built by Daedong USA. you need to do your homework buddy Kioti is the largest tractor company in south Korea in fact far as tym and many other tractors I would say it's the other way around
