I did take your advice where I could. Our budget didn’t allow me to go full bore and get a backhoe and/or a cab. But I did add on hydraulic remotes and a top and tilt to my new L406LE as well as the third function, a fiberglass canopy, and front and rear work lights. I did choose the limited model because the only feature that it lacks that I actually care about is the telescoping stabilizers that I can add on for far less than the standard 60 series. Can’t wait for it to be delivered any day now and I can finally get to work around my new property.
I think it's best to get all you can afford . When buying a new tractor. You did a great job going over all different things Hope you all have a blessed day
Thank you for putting out informative videos like this one. You, Tractor Time with Tim, and a few others really show case the usage of what a compact tractor can do.
Most important option …name brand with dealer support ..no matter how good off brand may seem if one is looking to keep any tractor for years …you will need that dealer with parts still around …been both sides fence with tractors had Landi’s , Mahindra’s, Massey Ferguson’s….but in todays world top 3 who still around are Deere , Kubota, New Holland…presently own a Kubota So to me first and top option is Brand/Dealer support all rolled into one, cause they all break and need parts sooner or later .
I would agree that first and foremost safety feature of any compact tractor should be the investment of liquid ballast. Far to many of the compact tractors are just to light. People that are not familiar with the way the equipment handles can get into a bit of a predicament. The Summit tractor is definitely going to put a thumb on some of these other manufactures possibly forcing them to add some of the features such as the third function and even the self-leveling loader. I think that all manufactures from a safety stand point should add the liquid ballast at a minimum. Thanks for the Update Courtney as always.
You are so right about air ride seats. I don't have one and pay for it after long hours using my tractor. I used to operate trucks and equipment with air ride seats and never felt like I had been beat up like I do with my tractor.
Bought my first tractor a few months ago, selected a 2014 1025R with rear hydraulic, 54” Frontier rear snowblower (hydraulic option), 54” quick attach loader and 54” belly mower. I just love it, I’ve added a rear quick attach, 6 suitcase weights, tire chains, bucket forks, and a blade box. I may look at a stump bucket next summer. I’ve selected all this looking at your video and I’m 100% satisfied with my choices.
I agree 100% with everything on this list. Especially the cab. If you live in an area where it snows more than once or twice a year, the cab is a must. I think I'm sold on the summit, but they need to get that cab version to market soon!
I agree, I'm so glad I listened to your advice when I was buying my first tractor. Ssqa front end with third function from the factory is a must have. Plus having a couple rear remotes opens a ton of other attachment options. I couldn't agree more about the air ride seat so nice to have on those 8 hour long flail mowing days out in the field. Your advice is spot on.
All good points to consider. I did not understand the hydraulic options. I ordered the front third function. Had I known I would have ordered every hydraulic option I could get. I enjoy seeing June.
I haven't even bought my first tractor yet. But, I would say get every hydraulic hook up option you can front and rear. Even if you think you won't use it... It's a bit of a future proof. For the one time you need to rent that additional equipment. Then you have the hook up for it.
Good advice to put more options on than you think you need at the time. Its cheaper in the long run to have them factory installed plus with the APR% incentives from JD and some other mfg's is well worth it than to upgrade later on. I think the Tires are one of the most important. I spent the extra to get the versa turfs and its great for all season traction and not tearing up nice lawns when traversing and moving items on the grass.
You make good videos. But I have one question. When you were dealing in used tractors you only dealt Deere and Kubota. You did one LS and in a review said you really couldn't find a reason to advise not to buy one other than its dealer network is small. Along comes Summit Tractors and you can't say enough on how great this unproven tractor is. Either they are going to have 1000 plus servicing dealers or I don't know why you are pushing them so hard. Where are they built? U.S., Korea, India, Japan? Just wondering. What makes the better than anyone out there?
So far I have only had the need for one additional hydraulic, but I wish I would have had additional ones beyond that setup as part of the base install (I know I can add more later with after market kits). I am happy to report the first purchase I made was the to pickup the Speeco Quick Hitch from you for my 3 point. So glad I did! With my tractor (B2601) purchase I did have the following included: - Soft sided cab installed. - Raised seat (I'm a taller person - they installed a 2" lift) - Filled R14 tires Additional purchases/installs I wouldn't hesitate to do again: - Mirrors (locally purchased, but available online) - Speeco weight bracket and weights (Goodworks) - Mechanical bucket level indicator (the sticker on the bucket wasn't quite enough for me - found the parts list for a larger tractor where it comes standard and installed on mine).
@@GoodWorksTractors thank you! It was your videos and trustworthy demeanor that have helped me get here. Was watching even before I made my first purchase!
Good Morning Courtney, I think you're giving your customers excellent advice. I would encourage anyone looking at NEW equipment to do their research before they buy and make sure you're comparing "Apples to Apples" .......if you're looking at pre-owned equipment I think it's case by case basis. Most of these smaller tractors have little or no hours on them. I personally own 2 tractors with over 6000 hrs and I have neighbors who have well over 10,000 hrs on theirs, having said that, it all depends on how that machine has been cared for over those hours. You'll have to do some due diligence and look that machine over really well. I've seen instances where a machine with fewer hours was in worse condition that an older model with more hours that was well cared for. Case by case fellas, good luck!
In my opinion, my root grapple and backhoe on my mahindra 1635 have been the main work horses. I would never buy a tractor without the two. Also love my land rake.
Hey .... at 14:54 you say, "summit is coming out with a factory cab version" ... any more details? Is that in the larger tractor that they are also coming out with? .... I'm really impressed with the current Summit ... thanks for making all the videos to inform us. But I'm thinking a slightly bigger one with a cab would fit my needs better. Any ideas?
You might want to remind folks that all brands will be available to look at all in the same place at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville next month. If it is within a reasonable drive, it is well worth going to.
Do you know much about TYM tractors? Looking at a T264HST with front end loader, pallet forks, auger, & rotary cutter. We have a 3 acre property and need to mow the "yard", haul trees/logs, lift sawn wood into and out of a solar kiln, install a ton of fence posts, construct pergolas, and overall care of the property. (Go easy on me. I'm brand new to tractor life!)
Definitely wish there were factory options for Rops mounted LED work lights! Kubota has the wiring under the fender but the wiring doesn’t look as pretty running all over it.
One point to make is that you can roll your upgrades into your finance plan. We did that on our Grand L to get the OEM 3rd function, 3 rear service ports and a hydraulic SSQA on the front-end loader. Also, a dealer may be able to finance a different brand attachment if you put a good down payment in on your finance arrangement. I would also balance that with what independents like GWT has available. GWT has things that my dealer didn't have in stock and some of Courtney's stock is better and a good value. We have a suspension seat on our Grand L as it comes standard. I don't know about the air ride seat. I have heard some complain about Kubotas air ride that have it.
Regrets… wish I knew more about ballast options. The standard loader weight box is crap. Also wish I got 3rd function and power beyond. Worst of all is not getting the bigger engine for my model. In hindsight the cost wasn’t significant considering it’s already seen 11 years of service. I’ve learned so much watching this and other channels. Be an informed shopper!
Got the 3rd function when I bought my 1025R. Didn't even think about the rear remotes. I even asked the salesman if there was anything else I needed and he said no. Ah well. Summit Hydraulics and use GWT at checkout.
I think you may have overlooked or just assumed one potential option would be on the tractor. You talked about the quick attach and self-leveling options on the loader. However, in many cases, the loader itself is an option which in most cases is essential. I know most would take that for granted but technically, it is an option for many of the models on the market.
The closest Summit Tractor service, according to their website, is 363 miles from my house. You have always said when buying a tractor make sure service is available.
Correct. Summit is not currently the right choice for the entire country. They are systematically rolling out. Where they sell, they all service. More geographic regions coming soon!
I have R/4 tires and they’re great for not getting flats but really suck in deep snow and mud. I’d love to see you do a vid on why adding rear remotes is so expensive.
Bought a ck25 kioti at auction had to put a ssqa on it plus rear hydraulics, third function was quite expensive then had to convert the bucket to ssqa. Nice video!!
Had a really great plan when I went looking for tractors. Unfortunately the plan was flawed. I purchased a BX 2380 and looking back I really wish I would have purchased the backhoe attachment as well.
Great video as usual. I was originally thinking about including a cab when I bought my 2025R but felt that it would end up being more of a detriment for my yard work or working in the woods on my property in th U.P. Yes it is convenient for hot or inclement weather but I hate to think of the damage I could do to it working in areas that could cause damage. The open station gives me much more versatility.
I added an Original Tractor Cab Co soft cab. to my 2025rand have used it for 2 winters now. It keeps me out of the wing and blowing snow, and is easy to rewove for the summer.
@@jimstruve3602 might have to look into that but for now I'm pleased with my open station. I grew up driving Farmalls with no cab so I'm not sure how I would do being enclosed.
@@davidgingery8927 I took have spent many hours on my H with a feed wagon and 686 with a loader. While doing chores, even a Heat Houser was in the way. Now that I am retired, I like to use my snow blower without becoming a snowman!
@@jimstruve3602 yeah, isn't retirement great? I have a single stage walk behind snowblower for my sidewalks but I use my 2025 with the bucket and edge tamers for clearing the gravel drives in the area. Growing up in mid Michigan we had a garden tractor with a 36" snowblower on the front. It cleared a lot of snow over the years and threw quite a few rocks against things. Luckily no serious breakage to other things, just shear pins and yes I wore a lot of snow too. I keep thinking of other add ons that I would like to get that might need to come before a cab.
@@davidgingery8927 I had a rear-mounted snowblower on the farm. I used it not only on the driveways, but also to clear cattle lanes. Imagine a frozen cow pie going through the blower!
Is that a "true" 3rd function on the Summit or diverter function? That tractor is going to be a big interest among many IMO. Maybe someday you can do a video on all the grease zerts.
Informative video Courtney! Definitely good advice to try and project your needs into the future 5-10 years and make your purchase decisions accordingly.
Love your videos, lots of good info. This is on offbeat question, but does there comes a point of too much ballast? When you add weight doesn't that put more pressure on the tires and shorten their life if you are on rock or concrete a lot? How often do you check the bolt to make sure that you are not doing harm somewhere else? I'm not trying to harass you about this but if you can help us out and maybe make a few pointers to help us understand. Thank you and we will keep watching.
I recently saw a guy going into a pile of gravel to fill his bucket on his Summit TX25 tractor. After he filled the bucket, he tilted the bucket backwards and lifted the loader. I was under the impression that the auto leveling feature of this loader prevented the operator from tilting the bucket at will, so how was he able to do that?
great suggestions for what to have. I'm really more and more impressed every time you showcase the Summit Tractor. Would there be a significant advantage of a Summit over my JD 1026R as far as capability? It only has 184 hours on it and just serviced by the "stealer".
@@GoodWorksTractors that would be cool maybe a video on Cat 1 tractors. that would be interesting. its hard to compare sometimes just by going to the websites.
Love your videos. So when is Summit coming to California? Their Website says that Tractor Supply Company will be their dealer. I have 4 or 5 of them within a half hour of where I live. However, TSC does not show the Summit on their website and Summit does not seem to have reached the Mississippi River. May I assume, California is not on the radar in the near future? I understand that they may be have a backhoe available. I have another question that Summit might address, if the tractor comes from the factory with Rimguard In the tires, it they are going to ship to the West Coast…maybe…someday, the tractor purchaser will be paying cross country freight for beet juice. Sorry for the tongue and cheek, but it has only snowed 4 times since 1971 in the SanFrancisco Bay Area. I understand the safety factor, and wholeheartedly agree with concept, I was in the Fire Service for almost 50 years as my major source of income, so safety was a big part of my life. Has Summit possibly thought of shipping the product in bulk to their dealers out here? Part of my other sources of income before the Fire Service, I worked mounting and repairing commercial tires, basically anything you could fill with air or water (including the A2 tires on construction vehicles, the ones that weighed than Volkswagens and cost more than Cadillacs). In the day, the Calcium Chloride additive made the job really messy, plus I would guess somebody here would consider that process a HAZMAT. Least I digress too far from the original question, will Summit be planning to cross the Mississippi River in other states besides Texas? I have inconvenienced too many electrons so I will close. Respectfully submitted
Definitely in the future plans, but not for awhile out west. Regional launches mostly east of the Mississippi first, then rollout there later on. A backhoe is coming summer of 2023!
Thank you for your quick response, maybe there is a Kubota BX23S in my future, but it will required a lot more nickel saving, maybe the Summit will be here then, after all I do have an older Bobcat 453 Skidsteer…lol
I would honestly consider that Summit Tractor. It's a bargain. If only the lift capacity on the loader was in the 1200-1300 pounds range. As it is with 900 pounds, after a bucket or a grapple, there isn't much left. You can't move even half full basket of firewood or a decent size log. Wish it had a better lift capacity.
I am just starting to do the research to buy my first tractor (25-35 hp range) I like like the what I’m seeing about Summit tractors but it appears that they are not available in Canada yet
I bought a 2021 1025r with the front loader and backhoe. I wish I would have got the 3 function from the factory and a grapple. I thought about getting it when I was talking to my dealer but I talked myself out of it because I didn't think I would need it. I was wrong.
In the market for a new tractor, upwards of 70HP. Do most new tractors come with a standard skid steer quick coupler these days or only on some brands or models?
Does Summit have a differential lock? I have seen you say they are over rated and then like them. They have helped me out many times with my X500 JD and my B1700 Kubota.
Love you videos but I do have a question? How can you love the summit tractor but rag on the JD 2025r? Although I haven't seen them side by side they look extremely compatible. I own a 2025r and love it.
The Summit weighs weighs about 50% more than the 2025r. It sits 4" wider. Much, much more stable. It lifts 100's of lbs more than the 2025r loader. Thousands cheaper when spec'd out the same. The list goes on, but those are some big hitters.
Yes sir, available summer of 2023. Can be added to models sold without the backhoe too. I don't have all details, but believe it'll have a subframe on it, separate seat, mechanical thumb, 12" bucket as standard.
According to what most nutritionists are saying these days Seems like loading your tractor tires with beet juice would give them a stiffy nitrous oxide Rush boyoyoy yoooong ! 🎯
I wish I could find an insurance company that would cover these smaller tractors for homeowners. My insurance company says my only option is commercial insurance if I drive my tractor off my property.
I think you do more research before you make a video than any other channel I watch. I rarely can think of anything to add to what you already say. I watched your small tracker video and you nailed every single thing. I will say on this video though the only reason to not have rear tire ballast is because you have lots of heavy wheel weights you don’t want to ever take off so you keep a bunch of tire slime in your rear tires. That’s all I got Courtney…
Best thing *EVER* for attachment market has been the ability to use *"offset"* or not direct in front or behind hydraulic equipment that still can be balance proper load under working. Solves the problem of the ever needing a back hoe and has infinity more use than a back hoe which basically has only one and a very limited one use/thus wholly lacking in usefulness. That's as for something as new over the past 20 Years now a retail product but regularly seen by me anyways as road work tool for state workers and utility electric corporate field work. Quick attach is absolute must have but if I can't offset the entire attaching mechanism I'm basically better off with a lawnmower that can attach, detach with all working equipment be put there and there alone. That's basically how Farmall Tractors did it back in the day anyways as main selling point from Old Iron be *"all about the undercarriage."* David Brown Tractors are another held in very high regard by collectors and *"yeomanry work"* as well from what I've seen watching UA-cam.

- Mirrors (locally purchased, but available online)
- Speeco weight bracket and weights (Goodworks)
- Mechanical bucket level indicator (the sticker on the bucket wasn't quite enough for me - found the parts list for a larger tractor where it comes standard and installed on mine).
Awesome Scott, thanks again!
Great info Vern...definitely a different situation in the used vs new
I hose clamped a couple’o mirrors on my ‘State -of-the-Art’ 1953 NAA Jubilee. Saved me some pain in the nex…
Any ideas?
I bought the basic JD 3038E in Maine, but wish I would have purchased a canopy right away. I liked the simplicity & h.p. Great video as always!
Right on!
You might want to remind folks that all brands will be available to look at all in the same place at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville next month. If it is within a reasonable drive, it is well worth going to.
Best upgrade I ever did was changing out the R4 tires for the versa turf tire. It’s night and day in the winter as far as traction goes.
Great information on buying a tractor. I am glad I went with the R14 they have worked well all year round. Have a great weekend😁👍🚜💨🍳
Just gonna say one thing, how can this channel only have 160K subscribers?
Haha, I don't know!
That Summit tractor is looking better and better. 👍
I'm enjoying it!
Heated mirrors would be amazing for us in the snow belt that use our cab tractors for snow removal.
That would be fancy!
Good morning. Watching from Florida. No snow blower needed. Cool videos
Got the 3rd function when I bought my 1025R. Didn't even think about the rear remotes. I even asked the salesman if there was anything else I needed and he said no. Ah well. Summit Hydraulics and use GWT at checkout.
Hehe, problem solved!
I don’t see any rear remote kits on summit’s website…mind sharing a link?
I think you may have overlooked or just assumed one potential option would be on the tractor. You talked about the quick attach and self-leveling options on the loader. However, in many cases, the loader itself is an option which in most cases is essential. I know most would take that for granted but technically, it is an option for many of the models on the market.
Yeah, don't forget your loader! :)
I've got snow or mud for a good chunk of the year around here too
Bought a ck25 kioti at auction had to put a ssqa on it plus rear hydraulics, third function was quite expensive then had to convert the bucket to ssqa. Nice video!!
The SSQA adapters are a common request. I think lots of folks in the used market don't realize until after they buy.
I knew it needed it but the price was tight on tractor it only had thee hundred fifty hours on it I also knew who owed tractor
I don't miss a cab, but my snow-blowing outfit is pretty detailed including balaclava, ski goggles, and ski outfit.
Haha, heated gloves and jacket are nice!
Had a really great plan when I went looking for tractors. Unfortunately the plan was flawed. I purchased a BX 2380 and looking back I really wish I would have purchased the backhoe attachment as well.
ahh yeah, that is a bummer with the BX series
What is the price of this Summit tractor?
Size, price point, features and functionality clearly favour the Summit tractor. Now, who's got that lucky lottery ticket?
Ha, maybe a big tax return error in your favor!
Is summit making a backhoe attachment for these tractors or would it be aftermarket?
Comes out this summer!
It's a diverter....sometimes I will use the terms interchangeably as 3rd function seems to "click" with viewers easier than diverter
Things I’d change about my 3033R: factory cab, 3rd function on the loader, rear hydraulics and lastly swap the R4’s for R14s
Informative video Courtney! Definitely good advice to try and project your needs into the future 5-10 years and make your purchase decisions accordingly.
Agreed, but that can be hard for me, haha!
Yeah, quite a few differences, but I'll have to do a video at some point comparing them.
I don't think the 25 is going to be big enough...waiting for their larger size(s) to come out. Starting to look at other options.
Great information 👍
What don you think of a backhoe as first option when buying
Tell us why loader cylinder arrangement is such that greatest force generated is in the dump/tip operation not the tear out function!
Question...is there a standard used by both tractor and implement dealers when quoting hp ie engine, pto or drawbar hp specifications
I bought a 2021 1025r with the front loader and backhoe. I wish I would have got the 3 function from the factory and a grapple. I thought about getting it when I was talking to my dealer but I talked myself out of it because I didn't think I would need it. I was wrong.
That's a bummer!
Love that DOG 🐕 ❤... She's funny....
She is funny for sure!
@@GoodWorksTractors cute...
In the market for a new tractor, upwards of 70HP. Do most new tractors come with a standard skid steer quick coupler these days or only on some brands or models?
Interesting Where are they available?
I have no regrets. I only purchase green.
Very informative...thanks ..obtw..where'd all the snow go?
These video's are so helpful thanks for taking the time to do them
That’s a nice looking bear! 6:38
do you have a vid at all about best ones or suggested ones for say moving logs with the claws?
wsh had the versaturff tires when got my trator. woulda maid life so much simpler for so maney projects.
Does Liquid ballast create any issues if the tractor is your primary mower for your lawn? L2501 with 2” spacers.
Does Summit have a differential lock? I have seen you say they are over rated and then like them. They have helped me out many times with my X500 JD and my B1700 Kubota.
Yeah it does have diff lock
thank you!! positive man!!
Is it possible to import the Summit TX25 to Uganda, East Africa?
Love you videos but I do have a question? How can you love the summit tractor but rag on the JD 2025r? Although I haven't seen them side by side they look extremely compatible. I own a 2025r and love it.
The Summit weighs weighs about 50% more than the 2025r. It sits 4" wider. Much, much more stable. It lifts 100's of lbs more than the 2025r loader. Thousands cheaper when spec'd out the same. The list goes on, but those are some big hitters.
Where can I buy a summit tractor in the south east
Not available yet, but they've got many locations in the works...won't be too long!
the tractor shown in thumbnail with those accessories, what's the cost setup like that?
Going to get a summit as soon as it’s available in Maine
If you are stuck with or want turf or R4 tires and need more traction consider chains. Cheaper and faster to add and remove than swapping tires.
Just curious if a backhoe attachment will be available for Summit 25? And will it have a attachment to the frame? Thanks
Yes sir, available summer of 2023. Can be added to models sold without the backhoe too. I don't have all details, but believe it'll have a subframe on it, separate seat, mechanical thumb, 12" bucket as standard.
@@GoodWorksTractors Thanks for that reply, I'm getting sold and becoming a believer on this lol
Love my cab tractor 🚜
Heck yeah, love your setup
@@GoodWorksTractors Now we need to add SNOW ❄️.....
Great information, Thank you Sir.
According to what most nutritionists are saying these days Seems like loading your tractor tires with beet juice would give them a stiffy nitrous oxide Rush boyoyoy yoooong ! 🎯
No belly mower option?
hat do you think about the Yanmar MY359 tractors?
I wish I could find an insurance company that would cover these smaller tractors for homeowners. My insurance company says my only option is commercial insurance if I drive my tractor off my property.
Thanks, Good informative video 💛
I think you do more research before you make a video than any other channel I watch. I rarely can think of anything to add to what you already say. I watched your small tracker video and you nailed every single thing. I will say on this video though the only reason to not have rear tire ballast is because you have lots of heavy wheel weights you don’t want to ever take off so you keep a bunch of tire slime in your rear tires. That’s all I got Courtney…
If you think you want a cab, get one. A/C and heat great, you can get attachments later
I wrote this before watching your video
Definitely, gotta get that up front!
Good information.
Thanks!
interesting video....nice tractor
I was at Mahindra yesterday and it looks like their bucket attached the same way as JD
On the seats, I have a suspension seat on my 1942 International H, it’s a crime if they haven’t improved even if it’s on some a budget tractors
So your saying that I Kant get a 8rx with370hp
I really like that summit tractor, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a sixth lug nut on the rear wheel.
Mine haven't fallen off yet, ha!
@@GoodWorksTractors ok smart a** 🤣🤣

June stole your thunder 😂❤
Is there a backhoe available?
Not yet, but it’s coming and can be added to all the existing units.
NEED heat and a/c in a cab.
Agree with that!
Smart business plan. Build and sell a very well-built Tractor but throw in the extra hydraulics for that future attachment sale.
Haha, very true!
Pollute the tractor with hydraulics. 3rd function, and all the scv`s the factory makes, and power beyond.
overload :)
