@@methree3821 I workout in the gym for 2 hours and many times even overexert my self even after that I can't sleep and my screen time is less than 2.5 hours
Gym and all others are great ideas, but if someone cannot sleep, it is not the same when helps for someone to the gym. I am awake many times for 38 hours, so reading books etc., is a great idea that doesn't make any sense to me.
No one tells you to diabetics just start creating insulin.

Here in sweden we get very little light honestly. We can go months without seeing the sun, so we need vitamin D/melatonin pills. i use melatonin maby a few days a week, depends on the day.

So melatonin is harmless, but we shouldn’t take it? 🤷♂️coming from someone like myself, an ex-meth addict, insomniac, who hasn’t caught a good night of good sleep in 8 years, I can testify that melatonin has changed my life, alongside healthy daily habits/recovery goals of course. Just throwing that out there for anyone struggling.
I have ADHD. A dark room and a book (if that really worked) would have saved me years of missing morning University classes and losing jobs if it were that simple. I had several sleep studies done before I was diagnosed. Vyvanse out of everything has been the thing that has regulated my sleep. I do take a variation of herbal supplements to help calm me at night too.
Give people some that are suffering with sleep issues and disorders some deeper solutions. It can be really invalidating and frustrating to be told to have hot cup of tea, take a bath, and having a dark room to help you sleep when you’ve tried everything and nothing works. There is nothing worse than not being able to sleep.

wrong. i have adhd. i DO need medication to feel hungry and thirsty, otherwise i genuinely forget to eat for days until i am genuinely starving. just because you personally don't like pills doesn't mean they're unnecessary. you seem like a "specialist" who has never personally suffered from insomnia and is dismissing the severity of it.

What if you have severe anxiety . All of sudden I can’t seem to sleep at night and then my anxiety gets worse bc I’m worried about if I don’t fall asleep I’ll feel horrible then I don’t fall asleep and I do feel horrible . Seeing a therapist but I don’t want to take harsh meds .

I run 7 miles every morning, eat as clean as possible and have trouble falling and staying asleep.
I can tell you, that just getting sunlight and making the house dark, doesn’t work for everyone.
If I wasn’t in the military, I’d try CBD and THC but that’s not an option. I’m scared to take pills due to dependency issues.

As a nurse, patients with severe insomnia are from very different reasons and diagnosis. If books worked my insomnia would be gone by 6 and I am 62 I seep 2 to 4 hrs a night. I have books but I will stay up and read the whole book.
Lmao does this guy not realize I spend hours just laying in a dark room doing nothing but thinking about “damn why can’t I sleep”.. seriously inconceivable that people can just hit the pillow and knock out.. so far my best cocktail for good sleep is no caffeine + melatonin + no water a few hours before bed + some jazz music to give me something complicated enough to focus on without being too stimulating.. takes a lot of forethought for me to actually sleep. .yeah, it's true. When i talked with my doctor about my sleeping problems, then he gave me these kinds of pills but i give it back immediately and i said, "What? no doc, this thing is hormone... i dont need a hormone to get a sleep... my body can make this kind of thing" and then we both laugh...

I don't take them often, but Tylenol PM helps me. I have arthritis in my lower back due to 2 old microdiscetomies & a bum hip. Sometimes you need something to take the edge off when comfort is compromised.

I sleep super well for the first 3-4 hrs then I’ll wake up and would be hard to go back to sleep for several hours. This usually happens in the summer time because it’s warm and brighter. I tend to keep the room cool but sometimes that’s not enough. Tonight I’m trying melatonin for the first time

Well I have all but worn myself out in the sun and made my room pitch black, and could not fall asleep. Also, there would be NO need for these types of pills if people could easily fall asleep. I think people who have no problem with such things think no one has such a problem!

Guys tbh the reading a book thing actually works. All it is is transferring your mindset to be more lucid as opposed to repetitively wondering if you are asleep yet / how much time do you have left to sleep
It works on some people not everyone. Reading books make me want to read more and more and now the sun is up.
My room is darker than Batman's cave, but guess what? I still couldn't sleep. I go to bed every 9pm, but it takes me 3-4hours before I get to sleep, lol.
I’m so tired of hearing “close your eyes and you will go to bed” well I have closed my eyes for an hour did deep breathing and listened to white noise did more exercise in the day drank no coffee took no naps and even more.

when I had trouble sleeping years ago, I tried Melatonin...it made me so OVER SLEEPY, I could NOT sleep.
All the comments here just mocking what he said, but let me share my experience. I have experienced this long before coming across this video. When u can't sleep , eventually u get stressed over not getting some sleep and this makes u more sleepless. So what he wanna say is make the lights dim and just read some book ( never use screen)and don't panic about getting some sleep. Just relax carry on with reading that book, or saying some prayers in your heart (whichever relegion u belong to) or just think about some movie or story , think of a diff ending to that😅 get yourself involved in there and eventually u will get asleep. It definitely won't happen on the first try, but ur brain will learn that!
I find melatonin to be very useful every few months. Especially if my work schedule changes and I need to be up earlier for a shift. It lessens the chance of me not falling asleep soon enough and getting less than an ideal amount of sleep. Also, I find that I'm more likely to sleep sounder through the entirety of the night after taking 2 or 3 milligrams of melatonin. Sometimes just a single mg can ensure that I fall asleep quickly and stay asleep throughout. It's an extremely useful tool, and doesn't seem to have any outward side effects. I think it's important not to exceed 3 or 4 mg. I've taken 6mg before, but I think that's way too much. A lot of products are way over dosed. Happy dreaming.
