  • Motor Racing has evolved over the years with technology now playing a big part in how drivers improve on track.
Karting is no different. The use of data loggers has been around for well over two decades now, but with drastic improvements in technology, drivers, teams and mechanics can dissect critical information to help them go faster.
Speed traces, RPM, Engine Temperature and the G-Forces karts experience in a session can now all be downloaded and viewed to fine tune the kart and driver.
This allows us to find the last few tenths or seconds faster, as data doesn't lie.
In this video, we look at how to use the MyChron 5 Data Logger and its Race Studio Software to understand the basics and to compare one session to another.

Would this be for higher end people who good at pace but need to adjust setup or is this for anyone?
    Great detailed video mate thanks!

Data can be overwhelming. But it is designed to be used by everyone. In this example I wanted to show users the different measurements we look at for our race team. This can easily be cross checked between drivers or sessions (different adjustments) rather than scrolling on your data logger or writing notes down.

@@KartClass Ah I get it so it’s for everyone and an easier way to find lap time and setup adjustments

Good stuff, but can you explain the dash too? Split times/sector times? etc. What are those numbers flashing on the dash after certain corners?

For sure. We’ll look to do something going through the settings. You can change the lights to show temperature, lap times (green sectors are faster, red are slower) depending on what you want to know about whilst driving

Can you explain what above or below a 2.09 grip level means.

The higher the number = more grip (on a certain part of the circuit) compared to being lower (less grip on that part of the circuit)
