I use to have a kindle gen 4, and I got it on my birthday, and it suffered not much drop, but quite some soup spills, and survived (soup is like 70 Celsius and the kindle automatically restart). Got in on my birthday, spoils next birthday, that was really unexpected. Could have overfed it with soup, but now the new kindle gen 5 is like tougher and I am careful to not give it a bath. This device is cheap, tough and also extremely value for money, good tablet.
For the food test you should pour some sauce and other stuff on and let all that crapy just sit for like a day then clean it off when it's all dried on. Soda is actually used in cleaning... also get dirt on it. Tons of dirt. Drop it in a forest creek and just pile a shovel full of dirt on top.

I can see getting stuck in the oven becoming reality if you use your Kindle to read a cookbook and it gets knocked into a cake or something... Although if your Kindle falls in a cake the heat is the least of your problems... :/
Guys these are realistic issues. What if you leave your kindle in the car in the sun for 3 hours? What if you leave it in your car in the winter overnight? What if you drop it in a pool?

Even if you created sketchy content you could still make a living off ad revenue if you had enough viewers/subs. Not anymore though. Hi Molly, I think you should do the heat test before you do the water test. Heat gives movement to the plastics.

Also need to be consistent with your water test. I think the bath for pads and bath / swimming pool for phones.
Kindle's are actually the most durable tablets I have ever used. They can go through a lot and still be in functioning condition.
