Riot: so we have introduced a new rank above challenger. it's called Transcended God-King, and it can only be accessed by having M7 on every champion, being one of the top 2 players world-wide, having a 100% win rate on at least 100 champions and you drop out of it if you die once in a game. that way challenger players will have something to work towards :)

have a winrate over 50% which is really good. And you can assume that
the under 50% champs are skillchamps who are harder to master and

this reminds me of the time when I was hardstuck rank 15 in hearthstone a year or two ago. I had recently discovered a few new decks and saw myself climbing like crazy, but kept hitting walls. One of my friends, who claimed to be a former legend player in China explained that I was thinking wrong, and suddenly, within days, I hit rank 2 on a winstreak, poised to hit legend in another day. Of course nerves and my own mind got in my way and I reverted to old habits, but it took an external input to literally make my decisions for me to show me his thought process on prediction and available options to be able to climb using the same decks I had used only weeks ago thinking that I was doing something wrong with the decks I was running. This video has reminded me of that and it was really insightful, thank you for all your work kellen.

I have been playing this game since around the middle/end of season 2, and at the middle of season 3 I decided to get better and better, so I watched a lot of guides about everything, farm, calls, lane facing, guides about my fav champs, etc. after that I tried to apply that knowledge in my games, sometimes worked, sometimes it didn't, but the important fact was that I knew it through watching my replays, I made notes, re-watched that guides and again tried to apply that forgotten knowledge . I repeated this procces until season 5 where I reached diamond 3 and was fighting against even diamond 1 players, but I'm a pesimist, so I realized how "bad" I'm at this game instead of realizing that I reached a hole new level with NEW! things to learn... so I left the game for months and I lost my dream or goal to hit high elo.
This video is great, I could remember all this wonderfull things that I had to make in order to improve. Right now I not play to improve anymore, even if I can hit diamond easily, but I think that some parts of this video can be used in other things, in my case, I could use them for my japanese language improvement.

I don't think these tips are useful precisely for language learning, (I say so having learned Japanese myself), why? because league of legends is about competition and becoming better than others, in language learning those things don't matter, you don't follow "perfection" you follow "good enough for my goals", in other words, less studying grammar/vocabulary, more using the language in a real-life setting

    • @Knight-Cyberia
      @Knight-Cyberia 3 роки тому

@@geli95us even lol isn't about "getting better tan others", there is a lot of people in "others", is about getting better than yourself, you focus on your goals, your pros and cons, what you can and you can't do; and with that in mind you review yourself, just as in language learning. If you have such an ego to have the need of be better than others... well, you have a problem.
And that "real - live setting " helps just with a little bit of goals, you will have too struggle with vocab and grammar forever. But as always, it depends of your goals.

This is simply brilliant. Thank you. As a long time hardstuck d1-d2 player I definitely had the problem of focusing on the results too much, not realizing how crucial it is to live with a mindset focused on the process. This might seem like a small thing to others but to me its just huge. I cant even count the hundreds of games that I analyzed with the keyword in mind "winrate, winrate, winrate, whats the average for this whats the average for that in my playstyle". Instead of trying to realize whats the right general practice of doing this, how should I change and adjust my overall playstyle so that its objecively better even if it causes me to lose next 20 games due to me not being used to it. In short words I would focus too much on playing what Im good at even though I knew objectively there are better META solutions, just because I knew I would have lower winrates if i switched my gameplay. And therefore, lower winrate = bad choice. You made me realize my approach was so wrong... I will try my best next season not to be a result-oriented players and perhaps finally thats what will make the key difference for me to become a better player. Thanks again, amazing content.

Whenever you end up in a bad result, ask yourself 2 questions:
    Was it my mistake?
Could I possibly have done something about it?
This is a little trick to avoid the dunning kruger effect. Even when other people make mistakes, its your job to compensate them. If you can not do that, you dont deserve to climb.
Rewatch your games and point out 1-2 things you did bad and then continue playing with this always in mind. For example i try to fix my control wards. I rarely bought them. Now I need to learn how to improve my placements and when to place them (and dont forget to place them at all lol). Its a process.
As a jungler: Your lanes keep pushing and getting killed by the enemy jungler? Is it your mistake they overextended and died even though you warned them? No. Could you have done something about it? Maybe. Countergank, intentionally "failgank" safely so the enemy will push and you can gank later again.

    Quick story:
I have been playing since the star guardian game event in 2017, went from a mid newbie(2017), to jungle main(2018), to botlaner ( Adc and Sup) main (2019- ), got my first rank at silver 4 in 2018 by playing 13 games in 2 days.
Then, i decided to get a higher rank, my goal was gold 4 at time.
As i was in the last year of college i couldn't play much, so i would stick to play 2-3 games each day after arriving from work before college( mine was at night only).
I got gold 4 by the end of the year at 52% winrate in 128 games in my second year of actually playing ranked, felt really proud of myself at time.
So, i do approve the few games per day mentality, actually helped me in lowering my loses by tilt that was my biggest reason to lose games.
Now i'm aiming to get platinum at least, wish me luck, as i wish to every single one of you.

Well, if you are that good, then props to you sir, but that doesnt change the fact that it is hard to get challenger there as well, nor does it downgrade the achievement of others. If you get challenger with so little effort, then my only advice is to just step a little further or stop playing this game that much and focus more on your life. Either try making a career from it, and be an esports player ( it's well worth it, even if it's just for the money) or as you said dont care about competitiveness and have fun, play less, and focus on improving your life (and i mean that in a 0% toxic way. Like really not joking), either way just sitting in challenger, yes, it's a great achievement, but it just takes waaaay too much time, and for what?, nothing if you dont do anything with it.
Also the Dunning-Krueger effect applies the other way around as well, meaning that more skilled individuals, tend to know how skilled they are more precisely, so I'm sure you are skilled, it's just that this comment seems extremely arrogant, and toxic. Even if you are really good at something and you know it, stay modest and humble, even if you deep down know you are right, it will convince others that you are a good person.

Going through school I had almost perfect grades without doing a second of homework. My secret was that I paid attention in class. I absorbed everything my teachers said, and if I didn't understand something I made sure I asked about it and had it sorted by the end of that same class. I also didn't focus on memorizing things, I focused on understanding the basic concepts. In maths, a lot of formulas don't need to be memorized. If you understand the basics well enough you can come up with them yourself when the situation calls for them.
I think the same is true for league of legends. Don't just memorize what strategies work, try to develop an understanding of why they work. Understand why the meta is the way it is, why some champions and items are strong and why others aren't. If you learn why each item is good, you'll be able to adapt your build to fit each game rather than relying on blitz or other tools for your item builds. If you can develop an understanding of what makes a champion strong, you'll have a better idea of how to capitalize on those strengths to dominate your lane, or how to stay even or come out ahead in a bad match up.

Later I realized that i was in GOLD, FREAKING GOLD. FOR GOD SAKE, I DIDNT KNOW WTF A WARD WAS LIKE 2 DAYS AGO. I shit u not i got placed in all silver and gold games as a level 30. Then a kind player added me and said that i should just play draft until im more experienced. But at that time I was really close to finishing all 10 games so i did it. Only at the last game I got placed in bronze and THATS THE ONLY GAME I WON. I got placed on iron 1 with 9 losses and 1 win. Ever since then I have not touched ranked at all. I just am afraid to feed even though Im miles better than I was back then.

I began playing league of legends at 14 years old up to 15 when I left it (got my acc banned lol) , I played it a lot and never worried about improving so I was the lowest rank (I believe it was bronze 5)
Fast forward to 18 years old I began playing again and got addicted again, but this time I improved a lot on my own terms despite having never touched the game for a long time, I climbed from iron all the way to silver 3 with extreme ease... and nowww im a hardstuck in that rank, this is an informative video but i also wonder if age and brain development also plays a lot into improving.

It's definitely not a big factor. Theres a 13 year old challenger riven on NA and there's challengers that are 25+.

I am a supporter of this theory, I have been playing this game for nearly 7 years, right now I'm 20, and at the time I was 14-15 I was going trhough some emotional shit, like any other teenager, when I solved that problem I improved a lot ingame, because I was playing for the wrong reasons when I was younger, also now I have more hobbies than playing League of Legends all day, I think thats why I enjoy more the game now.

tried to find a way to comment this on the discord group but i really appreciate this video, it was really helpful and something that i've learned a lot from especially the result oriented mindset. Although i haven't managed to find a way to do ranked without getting mad yet this has been hands down my favorite video you have ever done and i can't wait for your next .......nayway ol have a great day @Exil thanks for all your hard work

I think this is your best video. The mental aspect makes the thing so interesting. You learn more things about life in this video of league of legends instead of lol things.
    Very well done !!!
