I like the new dreadnought, the hands look somewhat Telemon'y.
Ork picks up the new weapon, slaps a bit of red on it and uses it AS IS.

I wasn't sure what was bothering me about those desolators and I didn't think it was the Moe five gun thing as I'm normally entirely down for some combiweapons even if they don't make much sense. However when you called them something made by Flash Gitz you nailed it to the wall. On an Ork they'd be spot on, Space Marines not so much. It'd be like a Sister of Battle toting a Tyranid Deathspitter. The factions thematic just clashes too much.

The concept of three-in-one guns feels really strange for the Primaris. Aren’t they supposed to be like the Eldar now, highly specialized squads that need to work harmoniously to achieve the greater result? Of course, I’ve never played table top, so someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I think it is very funny and also very extra, and isn't that what a lot of Warhammer stuff is about? I do think that adornment could also work for Ultramarines (atleast if you remember that they should have a grecco-roman style going).

Vashtor's "retinue" seems right to me. He's not a CSM, he's not a member of a legion, he's a chaos god prospect. He's not going to have CSM bodyguard's, he's going to have something like an Ad Mech techpriest would have. Some servitors/skitarii(cultists), some robots (oblitz), and some heavy support to back him up (daemon engine).
I don't see him "going to war" i see him as going on artifact retrieval missions with an expendable guard.

I guess as a big fan of massively chunky guns ala Unreal Tournament or the newest Doom games I actually kind of like the Desolators. I like the ones with the four-shot missiles on top the most, though I can definitely see the appeal of just not installing the belt feed to reduce the clunkiness a bit. Also Kirioth makes a good point about outfitting these guys with heavier armor; I think that would've definitely made them more palatable to a lot of people.

The Missile Boys -> Stupid looking.
The Arbites -> Best thing they revealed, even more interesting than the Vashtorr Box
Vashtorr by himself -> Excited for the mini, but the rest is definitely "WEll let'S sell this shit in a box so we can get rid of it." Nobody needs that extra stuff.
Soulshackle itself -> WEll...more terrain, I don't need Eldar. But I want the ARbites early.

I feel like the rocket marines needed to be the heavy intercessor rather than the standard one to balance the bulk of the guns out a bit, definitely bigger backpack; probably would have worked better if they were underslung and firing from the hip like heavy bolters or plasma cannons.
....That being said, for some Slaaneshi Havocs they're perfect.

The desolation squad is really weird. They didn't want to have the same aesthetic as hellblasters, which is just bigger plasma gun squad. They didn't want to go all in and have them be gravis like heavy intercessors which have better proportions with their guns. All honesty, picking up an intercessor box with a heavy weapon upgrade sprue from 30k would be a better fit than the desolation squad and probably cheaper too.

As I said over on Valrak's channel, the missile launchers just don't look like Imperium technology to me -- the entire aesthetic just feels off. I understand that Cawl is mixing things up and changing the ossified dynamics of Imperial tech somewhat, but it is usually variations on an established theme instead of totally out of left field departures from all that has gone before, and these things just don't look like any Imperial man portable launcher technology we have ever seen. I would have preferred a return to the magazine fed shoulder fired missile launcher designs that were seen back in the Horus Heresy era myself, playing up the idea that Cawl is unearthing or rediscovering the lost technologies of earlier Imperial epochs. Still, perhaps the design GW has gone with will grow on me over time.
On the other hand, the Brutalis Dreadnought is a fine looking combat food blender unit. Send it thundering int the midst of the enemy army, and watch the fur (and limbs, and viscera) fly - what is not to like?

Whatever team/designer/template they use for primaris is, it needs to change. Primaris - despite being the "face" of the company - are consistently coming up with the worst sculpts. The Marines themselves are pretty good, but so much of the aesthetics around them feel like GI Joe toys. You can only release universally disparaged models so much before you say that maybe you need to rethink the design language you're using.
The fact that everything except Primaris seem to be getting banger updates solidifies that it isn't a GW-wide issue, it really is a Primaris issue.

I'ma be real, I think the "rocket launcher" with the 4 rocket tubes one doesn't look half bad at all, it has that Doom BMG shape to it, it's not TOO long and weirdly-proportioned like the other 2 variants, it's not so bad....but overall, yeah, it just felt like they just went and...taped together a bunch of rocket tubes together and call it a day. Is it a 3-man squad like Eradicators or squads like intercessors/hellblasters? I think it'd look a lot more...reasonable if it was a 3-man squad like Eradicators, making it a 10-man squad would seem so...silly, but I think that's the case...

There's few neat things on these releases, though pretty much nothing for me aside from Drukhari upgrade sprue.
Arbites are pretty much the big winners here, that's solid quality kit.
Vashtorr kind of got screwed over by the box, not that ecxiting stuff.
HH people got new thing which is neat.
Redemptor melee variant is good to see since it's been so long without it.
And I've got to agree with the new primaris gun being strange and really ork like. It really feels like it should be shoulder mounted or run by gravis armor or possibly both. Heck making them underslung like heavy bolter would have worked better.

The lieutenant actually has given me a ray of hope, in a small way it shows GW are still open to the idea of multi option plastic character kits that aren't 100% clip together monopose. Also totally agree on the missile launchers, really wish they had them shoulder mounted or at least had just used a Primaris version of the first born missile launcher.

I think the Desolation Squads missile rifle things would have looked better as over-the-shoulder weapons like the Devestator's Missile Launchers, then you could get away with having that much CHONK on a non-Gravis armour marine. I also think the helmets should have had sensors and scopes on them too.

I don't dislike arbites at all, but I feel like it's a bit redundant to have the new minis be made for the "human soldier" four times in a row. Dark Eldars had had so much potential for a kill team with units like khymeras, mandrakes, wyches, sslyth mercs or any killy abomination a Haemonculus could shit out, but instead we get an elf with a bird, again.
