My teenage daughter and I are just starting out and we're very slowly collecting and painting our factions for Age of Sigmar. I bought her some getting started stuff for her birthday back in the summer, so she's ended up with Stormcast Eternals and Nighthaunts.
Neither of those appealed to me, so after a lot of indecision, I finally chose Sylvaneth. I'm an experienced modern boardgames player but I realy enjoy painting minis more than anything else right now. I see plenty of other figures from other AOS factions and from 40K that appeal to me too - the idea of painting just a few Dark Eldar is really appealing to me right now. I have a very low income so we're going to be working on this for quite some time!
I see a lot of similarities between AOS, 40K and the universe created by author Tamsyn Muir in The Locked Tomb universe - Gideon the Ninth and so on. I think that the Sisters of Battle painted to resemble the necromantic nuns of the 9th planet would look amazing! Dark and grim but also very cool.
And maybe there's another painting project for me to do one day...
Nundams are freaking cool, and it definitely helps that the Adeptas Soroitas’ leader is in a uber war suit.
The Sisters are so cool! I've been painting and collecting minis for years and never really found THE army that I would dedicate enough time (and cash) to reach 2k points until I bought my 1st box of Parangon Warsuits.
I didn't even really know their lore except a few things about Celestine but the minis were just so gorgeous that my brain just went "THAT! On your shelf, on the battlefield NOW!"

I've never been able to get myself to like Repentia. One of my main draws to Sororitas is their aesthetic and armor, which the Repentia don't have.

@@juliet_angeldust Oh I understand that. I get why other people like them and it's for the same reason Khorne Berserkers are cool. I just wish Repentias had more of the distinctive Sororitas silhouette design-wise.

Taceo, tacere... also works as the verb.
Also, wouldn't you use imperatives for that (-e, -ete)? Though I guess that depends on how forceful you want to be. The optative subjunctive does make sense to be more polite. Don't think you need the "esse" either as you are not making the verb into a form that needs your fourth/supine form.
Though this is me presuming that Gothic is just Latin. I've seen many a Latin typo in canon GW sources and not thought too hard on it.

I'm building a sisters of battle army right now and I find it funny that you love the repentia and paragon warsuits. I'm the opposite and am making my army mainly battle sisters, sacresants, castigators, immolators, seraphim, and rhinos. I think it's great to focus on and build your army around models you love though, so rock on.
I love the way you painted the sisters and the death guard. Some very colorful models that just make my eyes happy

Their design is badass, BUT.... I wish they had a variety of poses.
Please do continue with Sisters of Battle! I feel like so few of the bigger channels even talk about them, let alone actually collect and paint.
I love sisters and sooooo many people love them which is one of the biggest reasons we push back against Fem Space Marines

Speaking of Seraphon - they have such an amazing aesthetic, one of my favourite fantasy races in terms of concept. It's just a shame the Saurus warriors and Kroxigors looks so goofy! Maybe hold off and hope they get an update some time, fingers crossed it happens considering the Warhammer Total War designers did all the footwork on some beautiful designs. Check out the One Page Rules Saurians army if you get chance, they look much more intimidating there.
The saurian starhost models are also really awesome. I dig the gators with shoulder mounted rocket launchers
If you want a more 'star lizardmen' look, check out ClayBeastCreation, they created a line of Lizardmen who looks so original, almost like they've been mixed up with necrons 🦖
My Seraphon are a mix of GW, one page rules and claybeast creations (claybeast has an amazing sauropod that Seraphon desperately needed). The star host are also great.

When you finish your Librarian Sisters the leader should be named Douis Decimus (neo-latin with a French accent) and they obsess over the "perfect system" of data storage and damage prevention.
The Contemptor Dreadnoughts from heresy would work great. One arm Lascannon, the other arm Claw and Missile launcher on the back right behind the Head. Looks awesome for grey knights. I'm using one for my dark angels as well :) oh and your death guard look insane. Would love to see how you painted them

Your deathguard paint scheme is awesome and refreshing to look at. I think you should definitely go for deathshroud as your next purchase since they are strong in game and their model is cool!
I also love the paragon warsuits, it scratches my mecha itch and I plan to add them to my sisters force someday.
As for your grey Knights...you could set them on the same library shrine world, I mean, there's bound to be some cursed books and trapped demons in there

Although I am firmly a 40k collector, every time someone mentions the Kharadon Overlords my resistance weakens a bit. And the thought of building up a steampunk sky fleet.....

I would love to see you finish up the Grey Knights eventually (honestly just because they're my boys). That Grey Knight pally you did paint looks awesome, looks almost like he's on a frigid planet somewhere with ice coating his armor covering up the usual silver.

Blightlord terminators and the deathshroud flavor are both great kits. So many greeblies to paint! I suggest you get the 30k forgeworld version of the deathshroud. They look amazing, and using a little bit of green stuff or bits from other death guard kits will make them look sufficiently 40k without going overboard.
Yeah i can see you with Kharadron overlords, I love em myself but I have not got the painting chops to tackle them, I look forward to seeing what you do with them, I've seen some breathtaking stuff with the wooden planks and armor panels of those airships
I got the box with typhus in it, it was fun to paint that up. My next step is both types of terminators befire I go into heaver units like. Crawlers and such. Typhus would look good in your scheme. As well as the bottle/needle guy
17:20 lizardmen were the models that got me into the hobby, and are still my favorite GeeDub range.
I LOVE the name change (I wrote a faction based on them and Covenant from Halo lore for 40k)
Those Death Guard are my ideal for my painting journey. I love them so much
The contemptors already have a dual las cannon arm in the base box, not sure about converting a missle arm though. They do however come with a carapace mounted missle rack, so you could do a "counts as" and then have some sort of ornate melee arm.
Grey Knights were how I always wanted to start 40k. My very first model was a metal single blister GK terminator. I plan to use the extra tilt shields it came with in my current army. I still remember looking at that Dread online. Future plan is to customize a blood angels Librarian Dread instead. But I do love the custodes Dread with spear.
The new stormcast look SO much better than the original designs. They finally look like they can actually move, which makes them look much more dangerous than the older, clunkier designs. I’d probably get Dominion if I hadn’t already committed to Nighthaunt.

Man, those Death guards...I mean this 100% in a good way, even if it doesn't sound that way: they have a weird Spring/Easter feel to them and that's just so hilariously wrong that I LOVE IT and want to see a whole army on the table with a special EoB video event of the first battle.
I know nothing of how they play in-game, but I agree with you on the Paragon Warsuits. I love their look.
I love your paint style for your plague marines--I've never seen anything like that and its just nice to see something different than the box art.

Great video Jay. When I was a wee boy I was all about 40k but I got back into wrhammer about 28 and I fell in love with fantasy armies. More Seraphon and Skinks then anything.

You did get a few things wrong about AoS lore.
1. The Stormcast were created in the age of chaos to strike back at Archaons forces, after they've taken over most of the mortal realms. Nagash only became an issue during the events of second edition and has since been defeated (again).
2. There isn't just one world in AoS, there's 8 of them. The one you mentioned is Shyish, the realm of death, which is mostly under Nagash's control.
And btw AoS came out in 2015, so the Stormcast have actually been around for 7 years now.
General rule of the channel, when Jay talks lore assume everything he says is wrong…

Add a Balefire Acolyte equivalent to your Death Guard and you've got all the models you'll ever need for an all star Mark of Nurgle Kill Team of Legionaries. A vivid and unique paint scheme, sublime work.
Love the sisters idea of the library thing. Had an idea for blood ravens where I attach different chapters relics just casually on the floor and hang different stuff off of them like maybe one has a salamander flamer or paint some lightning claws in a different chapters colours since they're the biggest magpies around.
I really love your happyness in your videos! For the Librarian sisters, as an idea, maybe you can use the Oath of the Bodleian Library Oxford (easy to google), since that is an oath people have to give before using the library or working with the books. ;)

I would love to see you go for a Kharadron army ! They are very weird and very unique, and very rarely did I've seen anyone give them justice... And you definitely will !
Meanwhile Lizardmens are one of my top 5 favorite army in Warhammer Battle, but in age of sigmar they feel weird to me, and the fact that they had just a couple new models (underworlds bands and Kroak, period) for age of sigmar make them a lot less interesting to me in that setting...

Your grey knights are maybe the coolest-posed warhammer minis I have ever seen. Great work!
I would love to see you paint some seraphon! I think a cool idea for them could be like for your chameleon skinks , you could do the skinning like you do for orks but instead of just green you use two different colors at random . So you could have like a really red and blue chameleon or a yellow and green chameleon. It would just be cool because it signifies they’re like changing colors to blend in with their environment.
I've actually considered doing the Dreadnought thing Jay mentions for Grey Knights. Just seems really cool.

The new and old Lord Draigo could be a fantastic addition to your all terminators force. I like the old model with helmet, shield, and no back banner. Great looking terminators, can't wait to see your video on the 48 hour challenge to paint them all!
That Grey Knight colour scheme is amazing, would be great to get an update on how things are progressing (or not), also I think Boarding Actions is a great way to get these smaller forces on the tabletop whilst you build up a larger force.

With those death guard tanks I just realized that when it’s driving, the treads probably lay flat and when it’s shooting it raises up like how it’s modeled

With the grey knights you don't need the stormravens for movement as gate of infinity, teleport strike and teleport shunt are things designed to help with the bad movement
with contemptor Dreadnoughts you can mount a missile launcher on top of the sarcofogus so you can have a Dreadnought with lascannon missile launcher and fist :)
Grey Knights player here and I just started this summer and found my color scheme for my GK army in the second box of terminators or Paladins as I made em to. I wanted the Blue steel but not as blue as the GW models go... I am happy with the result just now making the finishing touches on em gold text lots of gold text.
Also sidenote I am the only one in my city that plays a GK army so that is fun. But my city only have 90k ppl but still fun to be unique

The death gaurd combat patrol comes with typhus, the putrifier,30 pox Walker and 7 technical plague marines but it comes with 3 plague marine bodies on the pox Walker sprue so you can kitbash it into a 10 man squad
You should also pickup the plague burst crawler
Love the death guard it’s so cool I love the just slaw that oozes out of them only chaos that’s close for me is tzeench love craft style is super cool.
I’ve had a lot of success in Kill Team with a mixed Battle Sisters and Repentia in my local meta. The Repentia evaporate into a fine mist if they get shot, but boy howdy do they chew through the enemy if you get them into range.
I do tend to prefer double Melta guns when when I can swing them though.
Do both Seraphon and KO! Both are my favorite AoS armies. You could even try printing some of the One Page Rules model for their Seraphon proxies

Jay! Seraphon armies function a lot like Imperial Guard!
Yeah, they are often times skewed towards hordes, but you could also just run 8 models of heroes and dinosaurs!

I love the Paragon Warsuits and am fairly excited for the Sisters Christmas Box
I really like the look of the sisters and may have to get some at some point... but I have orks, salamanders, emperor's children, hedonites of slaanesh, daughters of khaine, necrons, kruel boys in and storm cast on the go. Though I'm not so fussed about the stormcast really and mostly have them and kruel boys due to dominion. That's before I think about the slaanesh daemons, necromunda gangs and warcry and kill team, though for those I'm trying to have bands/teams that align with the big armies as much as possible.
That death guard looks awesome, and they are very fun to play.
Pick a Foetid Bloat Drone and one 3 man squad of Deathshroud Terminators. They give you a lot of tactical gimmicks a DG list needs.
The Blightlord Terminators are AMAZING. 5 of them can be amazing, also the Plagebusrt Crawler is a great support.
I had the exact same issue with picking between Seraphon and Kharadron…. I picked the lizards but always wished I picked up the dwarves instead haha
Get yourself the newly revealed Christmas Battleforce for the Deathguard. It's features 14 plaguemarines, 5 blight lord terminators and Mortarion! Should get you set up pretty nicely with a epic piece to paint up with Mortarion.
As for your gray Knight contemptor you can put the missiles on top of the torso/shoulders so you can still have one arm "empty"
Guardians of forbidden knowledge. One battle suit with WAR on it, the other with PEACE. Sister Melvilus Dewinatious of the Bibliotheca Arcanacus. Scrolls and books could be added as extra decoration to sisters. The bookshelves are a cool idea.
Your Death Guard "Plague General" is the Lord of Contagion btw! And the terminators are Deathshroud Bodyguard and Blightlords. From a gameplay standpoint, the Deathshroud are better, but as models, blightlords are some of my favorite of the Death Guard!
I love repentia! One thing I do not love, however is that they come 9 to a box with a superior when a max unit has 10. It just feels like I'm being asked to purchase models that won't be played if I want full units.
Warsuits are also awesome. I don't know what all the fuss was about. Warsuits also fill a desparetly needed role in the Sisters army because they're actually durable - as opposed to everything else we have which attacks once and then dissolves like cotton candy in a hurricane.
I've painted 90 sisters of battle as a comission (In different orders, I'm still painting ) They are great and I can't get tired of them. Well... sometimes but then I suggest some changes on the scheme
Writing to you from the future, excited for the fact Primaris-size Termies just got released, less than 7 months since you posted this? I always loved the way you upscaled your terminators, and I was thinking about copying you and doing it that way a lot before the new ones got released.
Its wiild to me that you described your sisters as being from a library world. That is literally what I have as the backstory for my space marines and their people. I have little handmade mini tomes on their bases and everything

Repentias can be absolute BEASTS in the new space hulk missions. No more getting sniped from across the table. You can actually get them where they need to go.
I just dipped my toe in AOS by picking up Thundrik’s Profiteers because the Kharadron Overlords are just so cool looking. They’re fun to paint too.

The dominion box really is an amazing deal these days. You can find it online for $120 US, and it's an amazing value. If you want to try out AOS it's such a great deal.
